Resonant Higgs boson pair production in the decay channel
Adding a scalar singlet provides one of the simplest extensions of the
Standard Model. In this work we briefly review the latest constraints on the
mass and mixing of the new Higgs boson and study its production and decay at
the LHC. We mainly focus on double Higgs production in the decay channel.
This decay is found to be efficient in a region of masses of the heavy Higgs
boson of 260 - 500 GeV, so it is complementary to the 4 channel, more
efficient for Higgs bosons having masses greater than 500 GeV. We analyse this
di-leptonic decay channel in detail using kinematic variables such as and the -assisted on-shell reconstruction of invisible
momenta. Using proper cuts, a significance of 3 for 3000
fb can be achieved at the 14 TeV LHC for = 260 - 400 GeV if the
mixing is close to its present limit and . Smaller mixing values would require combining various decay channels in
order to reach a similar significance. The complementarity among , and channels is
studied for arbitrary values.Comment: 36 pages, 13 figure
Context-awareness for mobile sensing: a survey and future directions
The evolution of smartphones together with increasing computational power have empowered developers to create innovative context-aware applications for recognizing user related social and cognitive activities in any situation and at any location. The existence and awareness of the context provides the capability of being conscious of physical environments or situations around mobile device users. This allows network services to respond proactively and intelligently based on such awareness. The key idea behind context-aware applications is to encourage users to collect, analyze and share local sensory knowledge in the purpose for a large scale community use by creating a smart network. The desired network is capable of making autonomous logical decisions to actuate environmental objects, and also assist individuals. However, many open challenges remain, which are mostly arisen due to the middleware services provided in mobile devices have limited resources in terms of power, memory and bandwidth. Thus, it becomes critically important to study how the drawbacks can be elaborated and resolved, and at the same time better understand the opportunities for the research community to contribute to the context-awareness. To this end, this paper surveys the literature over the period of 1991-2014 from the emerging concepts to applications of context-awareness in mobile platforms by providing up-to-date research and future research directions. Moreover, it points out the challenges faced in this regard and enlighten them by proposing possible solutions
Joint Coarse-And-Fine Reasoning for Deep Optical Flow
We propose a novel representation for dense pixel-wise estimation tasks using
CNNs that boosts accuracy and reduces training time, by explicitly exploiting
joint coarse-and-fine reasoning. The coarse reasoning is performed over a
discrete classification space to obtain a general rough solution, while the
fine details of the solution are obtained over a continuous regression space.
In our approach both components are jointly estimated, which proved to be
beneficial for improving estimation accuracy. Additionally, we propose a new
network architecture, which combines coarse and fine components by treating the
fine estimation as a refinement built on top of the coarse solution, and
therefore adding details to the general prediction. We apply our approach to
the challenging problem of optical flow estimation and empirically validate it
against state-of-the-art CNN-based solutions trained from scratch and tested on
large optical flow datasets.Comment: Accepted in IEEE ICIP 2017. IEEE Copyrights: Personal use of this

Corpus for cyberbullying prevention
Cyberbullying is the use of digital media to harass a person or group of people, through personal attacks, disclosure of confidential or false information, among other means. That is to say, it is considered cyberbullying, or cyber-aggression to everything that is done through electronic communication devices with the intended purpose of harming or attacking a person or a group. In this paper we present a starting project to prevent cyberbullying between kids and teenagers. The idea is to create a prevention system. A system which is installed in the mobile of a kid and, if a harassment is detected, some advice is given to the child. In case of serious or repeated behavior the parents are alerted. The focus of this paper is to describe the characteristics of the database to be used to train the systemPeer ReviewedPostprint (published version
Transforming ideas and developing entrepreneurship skills in computing sciences and informatics engineering courses
This paper presents an approach on entrepreneurship education which helps to turn ideas into Minimum Viable Products (MVP) and to capacitate students to become entrepreneurs. In this approach, we integrate development and management project to different business models. Students acquire, in addition to technical competencies, skills on market knowledge and business modeling. This approach has been applied for several years in an informatics engineering course and suggests a set of activities on 18 weeks. Teachers’ perceptions and students’ opinions were collected through direct observations and using a questionnaire in order to evaluate the process behind this pedagogical project which goes beyond the walls of the university. Most of the students are satisfied with the process since they develop projects that have a good fit with the market needs and opportunities and some of them are close to creating a startup.(undefined
Aplicación de la dinamometría isocinética para establecer perfiles de riesgo de lesión isquiosural en futbolistas profesionales. [The use of isokinetic dynamometry to establish risk profiles of hamstring injury in professional football players].

Abstract
Hamstring injuries are common in professional football and have been related to the imbalance between knee flexor and extensor strength. The aim of our study was to establish whether the flexor eccentric/extensor concentric strength ratio (Flexexc30/Extcon240 ratio) and the knee angle where the peak torque of the hamstring musculature was found, are useful variables to establish risk profiles for hamstring injury in professional football players. Twenty players of a Second Division team of the Liga de Fútbol Profesional bilaterally performed an isokinetic test of eccentric knee flexion at 30º/s and concentric knee extension at 240º/s during the pre-season. The Flexexc30/Extcon240 ratio and the knee angle of peak torque were calculated, and the players’ injuries were registered throughout the season. The results showed that two of the five injured players had Flexexc30/Extcon240 ratios lower than 0.89, value that has been previously used to determine the imbalance between knee flexor and extensor strength and the risk of injury (Croisier, Ganteaume, Binet, Genty, and Ferret, 2008). In addition, another two injured players obtained ratios between 0.93 and 1.00. On the other hand, no differences in the knee angle of peak torque between injured and non-injured players were found. These results indicate that the Flexexc30/Extcon240 ratio may be a useful index to determine the risk of hamstring injury in professional football players.
http://dx.doi.org/10.5232/ricyde2013.0340

Evaluating the incidence of hydrological processes during site formation through orientation analysis. A case study of the middle Palaeolithic Lakeland site of Neumark-Nord 2 (Germany)
Lacustrine localitieswere attractive environments for Palaeolithic hominins, since they provide a large and broad spectrumof resources. Moreover, they are excellent archives that allowfor high-resolution environmental, chronological and archaeological analyses. However, these deposits are often subject to complex formation and postdepositional factors, including water-related processes. Evaluating the influence of hydrological processes in site formation is thus essential to more accurately reconstruct the duration, intensity and types of hominin behaviour within these environments. In this paperwe present the orientation analysis of archaeological material from the Last Interglacial site Neumark-Nord 2, Germany. Orientation analysis was done using GIS to calculate the orientation of artefact from digital plans of the excavation surface, which were subsequently tested using circular statistics. The results of the orientation analysis are compared with a hydrological model to check the relation between preferred orientations and reconstructed areas of water flow and accumulation. Results suggest that low-energy hydrological processes could have affected certain areas of the find-bearing deposits at Neumark-Nord 2 but, overall, there is no evidence for either high-energy hydrological processes or a significant movement of parts of the archaeological assemblage. The project “Interglacial landscapes and Neanderthal adaptations in the Neumark-Nord region (Saxony-Anhalt)” is funded by the Deutsche Forchungsgemeinschaft (DFG) (GA 683/9-1)
