    Revitalizing the Traditional Home Values of Shiraz in Today's Residential Complex

    Traditional and historic house architecture in Iran, because of its special principles and values, is one of the patterns and honors of the architecture of this region and what is certain is to ignore and destroy those values ​​in new living spaces. The name is housing. For this reason, since housing is the largest and most important man-made artifact, the application of traditional home architectural values ​​can have a significant impact on the design process of residential complexes. In this regard, due to the disruptions in the residential spaces of our society today (Shiraz), it is necessary to pay attention to the concept of architectural values ​​of traditional houses of Shiraz such as (introversion, privacy, flexibility, climate, nature). Following this view in this study, different aspects such as: recognizing the values ​​of traditional houses architecture, identifying the features of contemporary residential architecture and improving the quality level of residential complexes based on traditional architecture values ​​of Shiraz are the goals of this study. The present research is by nature a qualitative research and data collection method as a library study. Library studies include topics such as traditional home values ​​in Shiraz and the matching of traditional housing with modern housing. The use of the S.O.W.T table has also been used to better analyze the site in question. The results show that some of the changes that have taken place in contemporary homes, such as the elimination of open space and interiors in today's houses, lack of attention to hierarchy and privacy in home spaces and residential complexes, lack of proper space for interaction. Neighbors and disregarding the behavioral needs of residents and their lifestyles have led to instability in contemporary homes. Finally, according to surveys, solutions are offered to create residential complexes that provide suitable living conditions and human comfort and traditional home architectural values

    Unusual Subcutaneous Presentation of Cavernous Hemangioma in the Lower Eyelid: A complete translation from Farsi

Original URL: https://binajournal.org/article-1-936-fa.pdf Purpose: To report a patient with cavernous hemangioma (CH) presenting as a “subcutaneous” lower eyelid mass. Case report: A 37-year-old man presented with a painless and palpable mass over the right lower eyelid for two years prior to referral. Computed tomography scan revealed a well-defined, lobulated mass located in the mid and lateral portion of the lower eyelid that extended posteriorly to the anterior orbital space. A transcutaneous excisional biopsy was performed. Histopathologic findings of the tumor confirmed CH. Most CHs are intraconal lesions, making our case an unusual presentation for this condition. Conclusion: CH may present superficially in the eyelid and anterior orbital area and thus, although this location is not common, it should be kept in mind as a differential diagnosis for any well-defined eyelid tumor

    Neuro-ophthalmic Manifestations of Coronavirus Disease 2019 and Its Vaccination: A Narrative Review

    Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a current pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 that has vastly affected the whole world. Although respiratory disease is the most common manifestation of COVID-19, the virus can affect multiple organs. Neurotropic aspects of the virus are increasingly unfolding, in so far as some respiratory failures are attributed to brainstem involvement. The neuro-ophthalmic manifestations of COVID-19 and the neuro-ophthalmic side effects of vaccination were reviewed. The major findings are that the SARS-CoV-2 infection commonly causes headaches and ocular pain. It can affect the afferent and efferent visual pathways by ischemic or inflammatory mechanisms. Optic nerve may be the origin of transient or permanent visual loss from papillophlebitis, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, or optic neuritis. Cerebrovascular strokes are not uncommon and may lead to cortical visual impairment or optic nerve infarction. SARSCoV- 2 may affect the pupillomotor pathways, resulting in tonic pupil (Adie’s syndrome) or Horner’s syndrome. Cranial neuropathies including third, fourth, sixth, and seventh nerve palsies have all been reported. Rhino-orbital mucormycosis superinfections in COVID-19 patients receiving steroids or other immunosuppressive therapies may result in unilateral or bilateral visual loss and ophthalmoplegia.     The effects of explicit teaching of context clues at undergraduate level in EFL and ESL context

    The effects of a 6-session intervention targeting contextual analysis on reading comprehension were investigated in undergraduate university classes, assigned randomly to treatment and control conditions. According to the quantitative analysis of the study, in comparison to control group, using context clues strategy caused an effect on reading comprehension of the EFL and ESL students in experimental group who were taught in how to use different context clues while reading, without considering the role of proficiency level and gender as a variable because there was no interaction between them and strategy use in this study. Thus, implementing context clue strategy as a learning tool deserves more attention by college English instructors in both EFL and ESL context. On the basis of the major findings in this research, college English teachers should keep the students better informed of the significance and specific functions of context clues in contextual guessing and should encourage the students to guess word meanings from context instead of inhibiting it when there are adequate context clues offered

    Assessment of peppermint, clove, cumin essential oils and silver nano particles on biochemical and shelf life of Citrus limon (L.)

    Natural and chemical compounds are used to increase the biochemical and shelf life of citrus fruits. The effect of nano silver particles and three essential oils: peppermint, carnation, cumin, were investigated on morphological, biochemical and shelf life of the lemon fruit. The first factor consisted of 13 different substances and the second factor was three the level of storage periods (zero, one, and two months after harvest). The results showed that the treatments significantly affected the fruit weight, diameter, length, decay percentage, total soluble solids, vitamin C, electrolyte leakage and titratable acidity. Peppermint essential oil showed a 70% reduction of decay percentage compared to with the control. Five percent of nano silver and 500 µL/L of clove essential oil maintained better fruit quality than control. Although the effects of silver nano-particle were significant, considering the environmental concerns we recommend using plant essential oils to prolong the postharvest shelf life of lemon fruits

    A Two Stage Hierarchical Control Approach for the Optimal Energy Management in Commercial Building Microgrids Based on Local Wind Power and PEVs

    The inclusion of plug-in electrical vehicles (PEVs) in microgrids not only could bring benefits by reducing the on-peak demand, but could also improve the economic efficiency and increase the environmental sustainability. Therefore, in this paper a two stage energy management strategy for the contribution of PEVs in demand response (DR) programs of commercial building microgrids is addressed. The main contribution of this work is the incorporation of the uncertainty of electricity prices in a model predictive control (MPC) based plan for energy management optimization. First, the optimization problem considers the operation of PEVs and wind power in order to optimize the energy management in the commercial building. Second, the total charged power reference which is computed for PEVs in this stage is sent to the PEVs control section so that it could be allocated to each PEV. Therefore, the power balance can be achieved between the power supply and the load in the proposed microgrid building while the operational cost is minimized. The predicted values for load demand, wind power, and electricity price are forecasted by a seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) model. In addition, the conditional value at risk (CVaR) is used for the uncertainty in the electricity prices. In the end, the results confirm that the PEVs can effectively contribute in the DR programs for the proposed microgrid model

    Background: Influenza virus is the major cause of lower respiratory tract illnesses on the worldwide. Vaccination can be an effective tool to prevent its outbreak. Highly conserved viral nucleoprotein is an effective vaccine candidate to provide heterosubtypic immunity, offering resistance against various influenza virus strains.Materials and Methods: In present research NP gene was inserted in pET-22b expression vector. New construct (pET-22b/NP) was transformed into E. coli BL21 (DE3) strain and the expression of nucleoprotein was induced by IPTG. It was analyzed by SDS-PAGE and confirmed by Western blotting.Results: Western blotting confirmed the expression and production of recombinant Influenza nucleoprotein.Conclusion: These results suggest that the codon-optimized influenza A virus NP gene can be efficiently expressed in E. coli
