Les pantalles omplen la nostra vida i, en les societats occidentals, és ja impossible entendre el món sense conèixer aquest codi. Tanmateix, el sistema educatiu no integra l’educació audiovisual, i des de les institucions no es promou l'alfabetització en aquest àmbit. L’analyse de cinq poèmes du livre Bruixa de dol montre la complexité d’une poésie qui se base sur l’imaginaire collectif. Si dans les li vres de poèmes qui le suivent Marçal crée ses propres symboles, dans celui - ci la poétesse s’approprie des éléments collectifs pour les réelaborer sous son regard particulier. Cet article prétend montrer la complexité lyrique de cinq poèmes, ce qui permet a rriver à une certaine compréhension de l’univers marçalien des années 1980.Resum : The analysis of five poems from the book entitled Bruixa de dol shows the complexity of a poetry that is based on the collective imagination. Although in her later books of poems Marçal went on to create her own symbols, in this one the poet makes use of collective elements and restructures them according to her own particular vision. Effects of Bifidobacterium animalis Subsp. lactis (BPL1) Supplementation in Children and Adolescents with Prader-Willi Syndrome : A Randomized Crossover Trial

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by a wide range of clinical manifestations, including obesity, hyperphagia, and behavioral problems. Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis strain BPL1 has been shown to improve central adiposity in adults with simple obesity. To evaluate BPL1's effects in children with PWS, we performed a randomized crossover trial among 39 patients (mean age 10.4 years). Participants were randomized to placebo-BPL1 (n = 19) or BPL1-placebo (n = 20) sequences and underwent a 12-week period with placebo/BPL1 treatments, a 12-week washout period, and a 12-week period with the crossover treatment. Thirty-five subjects completed the study. The main outcome was changes in adiposity, measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Secondary outcomes included lipid and glucose metabolism, hyperphagia, and mental health symptoms. Generalized linear modeling was applied to assess differences between treatments. While BPL1 did not modify total fat mass compared to placebo, BPL1 decreased abdominal adiposity in a subgroup of patients older than 4.5 years (n = 28). BPL1 improved fasting insulin concentration and insulin sensitivity. Furthermore, we observed modest improvements in some mental health symptoms. A follow-up trial with a longer treatment period is warranted to determine whether BPL1 supplementation can provide a long-term therapeutic approach for children with PWS (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT03548480)

Resistance to taxanes in triple negative breast cancer associates with the dynamics of a CD49f+ tumor initiating population

Taxanes are a mainstay of treatment for breast cancer, but resistance often develops followed by metastatic disease and mortality. Aiming to reveal the mechanisms underlying taxane resistance, we used breast cancer patient-derived orthoxenografts (PDX). Mimicking clinical behavior, triple-negative breast tumors (TNBCs) from PDX models were more sensitive to docetaxel than luminal tumors, but they progressively acquired resistance upon continuous drug administration. Mechanistically, we found that a CD49f+ chemoresistant population with tumor-initiating ability is present in sensitive tumors and expands during the acquisition of drug resistance. In the absence of the drug, the resistant CD49f+ population shrinks and taxane sensitivity is restored. We describe a transcriptional signature of resistance, predictive of recurrent disease after chemotherapy in TNBC. Together, these findings identify a CD49f+ population enriched in tumor-initiating ability and chemoresistance properties and evidence a drug holiday effect on the acquired resistance to docetaxel in triple-negative breast cancer
