International words in teaching Polish as a foreign language in business at basic levels
The article present the possible use of the international words in teaching Polish as a foreign
language to businessmen at a basic levels. It is the answer to a growing number of professionals
working in Poland, who during their stay here would like to leam the language. Those
people as language learners have very particular needs, for example, including business vocabulary
from the very beginning of their language education. That is why the language
course should be especially tailored to fit their needs. In this context, interantionalisms may
be very helpful to the teacher, as they often have similar forms in many languages. They also
allow to use authentic materials from early stages of the learning process, if only the materials
are properly chosen. Those have to be chosen very carefully to avoid the use of so called
false friends, words of phrases that have similar form and origin, but have different meaning
and connotations in different languages. The article also presents the use of international
words in two coursebooks used commonly in business courses at a basic level
Znaczenie martwej natury w poezji i eseistyce Czesława Miłosza
The article provides a glance perspective on Miłosz’s poetry and essay writing through an issue of a relation with fine arts. The Author takes up a problem of both the method (realism; thesis of world’s reality—against nothingness) and the subject (generic scenes); she turns towards Miłosz’s interest in Chardin, Dutch still lives, Cézanne and passion for haiku, introducing a meditative motif. First of all, what is worthy of emphasizing here is the hypotyposis consideration (e.g. type of painting imagining) remaining in conflict with ecphrasis (work description itself)
Czesław Miłosz wobec malarstwa Edgara Degasa
CZESŁAW MIŁOSZ ON EDGAR DEGAS’S PAINTINGEdgar Degas’s art is the subject of many poetic and prose statements of Czesław Miłosz. In Degas’s painting Miłosz perceived the richness of themes relating to human customs but also—rony and pity for the human reality. The poet was especially fascinated with women from lateworks of the French artist; he wrote about them in his poem “Pastele Degasa”. In Miłosz’s reflection the women of Degas are representatives of Nature and priestess of Eros, as well as fragile human beings, who can’t be rescued by the poet from their transience nor from “the abyss”
Development Trends in Electronics Printed: Intelligent Textiles Produced with the Use of Printing Techniques on Textile Substrates
The authors concentrated their attention on the new area of research, concerning properties of electrically conductive textiles, produced by printing techniques. Such materials can be used for monitoring, for example, the rhythm of breathing. The aim of this study was to develop a sensor of strains for the needs of wearable electronics. A resistance‐type sensor was made on a knitted fabric with shape memory, dedicated to monitor motor activity of human. The Weftloc knitted fabric shows elastic memory—thanks to the presence of elastomeric fibers. The dependence of sensoric properties of the Weftloc knitted fabric on the values of load, its increment rate, and its direction of action was tested. Mechanical parameters including total and elastic strain, elasticity degree, and strength were also assessed. The results indicate an anisotropic character of mechanical and sensoric behaviors of the sensor showing a particularly optimal behavior during diagonal loading. Electro‐conductive properties have been imparted to the Weftloc fabric by chemical deposition of polypyrrole dopped with Cl ions. In addition, authors used as a carrier functional water dispersion of carbon nanotubes AquaCyl that was adapted in the Department of Material and Commodity Sciences and Textile Metrology for forming electrically conductive pathways by film printing method. It was assumed that the electrically conductive paths are sensitive to chemical stimuli. Studies of the effectiveness of the sensors for chemical stimuli were conducted for selected pairs of liquids. The best sensory properties were obtained for the methanol vapor—the relative resistance (Rrel.) at the level above 40%. In the case of nonpolar liquid vapor, the sensoric sensitivity of the printed fabric was much lower, with Rrel. level below 29%. Properties of the electrically conductive materials, such as thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, and resistance to chemicals, allow for widely using them nanotechnology
Slični korijeni ornitonima i njihova pragmatična uporaba u odabranim slavenskim jezicima
U članku se uspoređuju slični slavenski korijeni ornitonima u
hrvatskom, poljskom, ruskom, staroslavenskom, slovačkom i
zajedničko podrijetlo i etimologiju pokazuje i frazeološka uporaba
ornitonima kao sastavnice pragmema i pragmafrazema. Članak će
biti iskorišten u budućoj knjizi slavenskih korijenskih univerzalija
koja je zamišljena kao niz tematskih cjelina s tabelom zajedničkih
osnovnih etimona i njihovim opisom u pragmatičnoj primjeni
The secret chambers in the Chephren Pyramid
Pyramids are the greatest architectural achievement of ancient civilization,
so people all over the world are curious as to the purpose of such huge
constructions. No other structure has been studied as thoroughly, nor have so
many books and articles been written about it. We created a computer model of
the pyramid. To validate the model, we compare our calculations with the
experimental data of Luis W. Alvarez. The fact that the Egyptians set up 2.5
million stone blocks without any purpose seems to be unimaginable. Therefore,
we attempt to examine the internal structure of the pyramid using muon
tomography. With our measurements we performed and verified a calibration of
the attenuation of muons for primary beam momenta of 2.5 GeV/c and 3 GeV/c at
the T9 experimental area of CERN.Comment: The authors of the paper are winners of the CERN Beamline for Schools

Adrenal “nonadenoma” — clinical characteristics and risk of malignancy
Introduction: There is an increasing number of adrenal tumours discovered incidentally during imaging examinations performed for many different indications. Based on imaging results, it is possible to differentiate benign from malignant adrenal masses, although there is still a number of equivocal imaging findings. Our study presents 77 cases of adrenal tumours in which imaging was inconclusive and the final diagnosis was stated only after surgery and histopathological examination.
Material and methods: Retrospective data analysis: 77 cases of indeterminate adrenal tumours with a presumptive diagnosis of “nonadenoma” in patients operated within a 16-year period (2004–2019). None of the patients had a history of malignancy, and all tumours were hormonally inactive. On contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT), the native density of all tumours was higher than 10 Hounsfield Units (HU), and the absolute percentage washout (APW) and relative percentage washout (RPW) were lower than 60% and 40%, respectively.
Results: The most common findings were adrenal adenoma (25.9%), macronodular adrenal hyperplasia (16.9%), ganglioneuroma (15.6%), and haemorrhage with posthaemorrhagic changes (13%). In total, there were 12 various histopathological diagnoses in this group. There were only 2 (2.6%) malignant (adrenal cancer and leiomyosarcoma) and 3 (3.9%) potentially malignant (pheochromocytoma) lesions in this group.
Conclusions: It is often impossible to make a correct diagnosis in a clinical setting until it is histologically verified. “Nonadenoma” adrenal tumours constitute a heterogeneous group including very rare pathologies. The risk of malignancy in indeterminate adrenal tumours is relatively low.
