    Sedimentology of Anak Datai of Machinchang Formation, Langkawi, Kedah

    Anak Datai beach is composed of rocks dated Cambrian age making it the oldest rock found in Peninsular Malaysia. It is located in the Northwest of Langkawi Island. Anak Datai beach area covers several beds such as Anak Datai Bed, Temurun Bed and Tengkorak Bed of the Chinchin Member under Machinchang Formation.The objective of the project is to perform sedimentology study by describing the sedimentary facies along with the facies succession and its association to understand the sedimentary processes and environment. For this project, sedimentary logs are created and used as the main data. There are six sedimentary logs constructed along the transect route which are mainly composed of sandstone with minor intercalations of silty and muddy layers. Based on the research done, generally it is coarsening upward succession of sandstone with thin intercalation of muddy and silty layers. The sandstone is classified as metaquartzite sandstone as it has undergone low metamorphism. From facies analysis, the study area is mainly made up of four facies such as trough cross-bedding sandstone, planar cross-bedding sandstone, parallel lamination sandstone and massive sandstone. All of the facies type identified suggesting upper shoreface as the paleo-environment of deposition for the study area with wave dominated environment. Petrographic analysis is also carried out in order to understand further about the rock in the area in terms of mineralogy properties. 12 samples were prepared and the samples were categorized according to the grain sizes of the quartz minerals. The main mineral observed in the samples is predominantly quartz with matrix composed of smaller crystals of quartz, clay and carbonaceous matter

    A structured model metametadata technique to enhance semantic searching in metadata repository

    This paper discusses on a novel technique for semantic searching and retrieval of information about learning materials. A novel structured metametadata model has been created to provide the foundation for a semantic search engine to extract, match and map queries to retrieve relevant results. Metametadata encapsulate metadata instances by using the properties and attributes provided by ontologies rather than describing learning objects. The use of ontological views assists the pedagogical content of metadata extracted from learning objects by using the control vocabularies as identified from the metametadata taxonomy. The use of metametadata (based on the metametadata taxonomy) supported by the ontologies have contributed towards a novel semantic searching mechanism. This research has presented a metametadata model for identifying semantics and describing learning objects in finer-grain detail that allows for intelligent and smart retrieval by automated search and retrieval software

    Accessibility factors for totally blind users of Palestinian universities websites

    The World Wide Web (Web) is considered to be one of the sources of information and services.Universities use their webpages to communicate with stakeholders.Most of the related researchers have discovered significant faults with respect to accessibility of university websites, especially for blind users.In order to determine the totally blind requirements for designing websites, this study conducted a comprehensive literature review and based it on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.0. The study revealed important factors in designing an accessible university webpage prototype. An online questionnaire was constructed to evaluate the accessibility of the prototype from blind users’ perspective.From the evaluation of 16 visually impaired participants, it was found that the prototype was highly accessible among the totally blind where the mean score was 4.19. A regression analysis test was also utilized to determine the relationship between the items of the questionnaire and the main principles of accessibility.The results showed that there were statistically significant differences between these items.In conclusion, the accessibility factors are indirectly validated, and could be used to develop an accessible university website for blind users

    The Influence of Community Empowerment Strategies in Environmental Engineering Diarrhea Prevention in the Area of Medan Johor Health Center

    This research aims to establish the impact that community participation techniques in environmental engineering have on the protection of diarrheal illnesses in the region that is serviced by the Medan Johor Health Center in 2021.An analytical survey with a cross-sectional design was the method of research that was carried out. The total number of individuals included in this research was 2235. This population was sampled using either non-probability sampling or selective sampling, neither of which is based on probability. One hundred different individuals were going to be used as subjects for the research. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses, in addition to the Chi square test, were utilized in order to analyze the data.According to the findings of the study, the p-value for the advocacy variable was found to be 0.000, while the values for the collaboration and communication variables were 0.001 and 0.002, respectively. This indicates that there is a connection between advocacy, teamwork, communication, and mentorship and the protection of gastroenteritis. The findings of the multivariate analysis revealed that the mentorship variable, which had an OR value of 35,174, was the most important factor in determining the outcomes of this research.Although there is a correlation between advocating, teamwork, communication, and mentorship and the protection of gastroenteritis, the findings of a multivariate analysis indicate that mentoring is the most important component

    In this study, we construct a new Phase-fitted and Amplication-fitted Diagonally Implicit Runge-Kutta method (PFAFDIRK) for the numerical integration of first order Initial Value Problems (IVPs) which possesses oscillatory solutions. The phase-fitted and amplification-fitted method is based on existing Diagonally Implicit Runge-Kutta method (DIRK) of order four. The numerical results show that the proposed method is more efficient than the existing DIRK methods

Both conditions can arise in unpredictable situations so that the ability of the government and stakeholders in preventing, detect early to detect, handle cases as early as possible to response will affect the extent of the magnitude of emergency event sand post-event handling. Readiness surveillance device in the face of the influx of infectious diseases. Early detection efforts are carried out by detecting events through examination and screening, information and Verification of passengers, transport and disease risk factors. This type of research is Descriptive with the aim to know the evaluation of the implementation of PHEIC to the performance of Class I Medan Port Health Office in 2020, based on respondent answers. The population is all quarantine officers in the working area of Class I MPA Medan as many as 58 respondents, sampling using total sampling. The result of research shows that based on respondent answers obtained PHEIC implementation with employee discipline obtained there is still no timely out hours of work and never reprimanded directly by superiors, while supervision is still less than the leadership is more considered objectively and thoroughly, work activities organized together in teams not individually. It is recommended to all employees to enforce discipline, especially at work hours and the need for effective staffing in improving employee performance as well as working based on a predetermined team work

    Pencegahan penyakit akibat lingkungan yang kurang sehat  merupakan upaya esensial di saat masih tingginya kejadian penyakit menular juga diiringi dengan semakin meningkatnya masalah penyakit infeksi baik menular maupun  tidak menular. Semakin tingginya beban masalah kesehatan masyarakat saat ini mengindikasikan bahwa promosi kesehatan dan pencegahan yang telah ada kurang dapat berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat. Banyak studi yang menemukan bahwa upaya promosi kesehatan dan pencegahan penyakit yang bersifat top- down dari pemerintah, kurang efektif bila dibandingkan dengan program yang berbasis masyarakat. Oleh sebab itu, untuk mendukung Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat (GERMAS) yang baru dicanangkan oleh pemerintah, perlu dilakukan mobilisasi masyarakat dalam membiasakan hidup sehat sesuai dengan tujuan program GERMAS. Meskipun GERMAS baru dicanangkan oleh Pemerintah namun  perlu dilakukan inisiasi mulai dari kelompok masyarakat paling kecil seperti dasa wisma. Kegiatan Pengabdian ini akan fokus pada 2 sub-kegiatan GERMAS, yaitu peningkatan kesehatan lingkungan dan pengelolaan sampah.. Kegiatan ini akan dilakukan melalui mobilisasi masyarakat untuk ikut terlibat mulai dari perencanaan hingga evaluasi kegiatan.
