Market Prices as Indicators of Political Events Evidence from the Experimental Market on the Czech Republic Parliamentary Election in 2002

According to efficient markets theory, the stock price on a competitive market is the best estimate of the stock’s present value. This is the basic assumption for predictions using experimental markets. The first part of the paper describes the features of such an experimental market, discusses shortly its advantages in providing predictions as compared to traditional opinion polls and identifies some assumptions that can influence its efficiency and predictive accuracy. The second part of the paper is then devoted to the results of the first experimental market organized in the Czech Republic, the political stock market on the Czech parliamentary elections into the Chamber of Deputies in June 2002.Experimental economics; political stock markets; predictions

Measurement and diagnosis of vibration induction machines

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vznikem hluku a vibrací v asynchronních strojích. Nejprve je zaměřena úvodem do problematiky hluku a vibrací. Další částí je seznámení se s elektrickými stroji a vznikem vibrací a hluku v asynchronních motorech. Seznámení se s metodami měření, přístroji pro měření a laboratořemi. Následuje měření 3 sériově vyráběných motorů. U prvního vzorku dojde ke změření vibrací ve školních laboratořích a k porovnání s měřením ve firmě SIEMENS.This thesis deals with noise and vibration in induction machines. First is focused introduction to noise and vibration. Another part is the introduction to electrical machines and vibrations and noise in induction motors. Introduction to the methods of measurement, instruments for measuring and laboratory. Followed by measurement of 3 mass-produced motors. The first sample is to measure vibrations in school labs and compared with measurements at Siemens.

Effects of continuous and pulsating water jet on CNT/concrete composite

This paper presents first results of the study of the resistance of carbon nanotube concrete composite (CNT/concrete composite) to the action of continuous and pulsating water jets. The experiments oriented at the determination of erosion effects of pulsating and continuous water jets impinging the surface of reference (concrete) and CNT/concrete composite samples were performed. Tested samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscope. Samples were exposed to pulsating and continuous water jets at various operating parameters. Erosion effects of pulsating and continuous jets were evaluated in terms of material removal rate. The possible influence of addition of CNTs to the concrete on its resistance to the action of continuous and pulsating water jets is discussed in the paper. The experiments proved that CNT/concrete composite exhibits higher resistance than reference concrete to the action of both pulsating and continuous water jet under the given testing conditions.Web of Science631058958

Tens of thousands Roma inhabitants were engaged into the process of building the socialist Czechoslovakia, but their lives never became declared part of the memory of a nation. Financial analysis of Pivovar Svijany, a.s.

The purpose of the Bachelor's Thesis "Financial analysis of Pivovar Svijany corporation." is to evaluate the financial situation of this company between years 2005 and 2009. The thesis consists of two main parts. Theoretical part explains the core of financial analysis and particular analytic methods applied in this thesis. These particular methods include absolute, differential and ratio indicators, the analysis of working capital, decomposition of ROE, value indicator EVA and bankruptcy and credibility models. This bachelor thesis deal with the changes of advertising and its evolution based on technological progress. It sums up the development since its birth until today. It's devided into the three main time spaces: Advertising till the Industrial revolution, since the Industrial revolution until the come of IT and since the age of computers until today with the future prospects. All that is processed with the use of milestones mostly in form of arising importance of inventions and birth of mediums during particular times. I tried to make my thesis chronologically as sequenced as possible but due to the fact that the technologies and mediums were not all invented one by one but often came into existence simultaneously, some of the chapters are written retrospectively with effort to preserve continuity in text as much as possible. What would advertising look like without all the inventions a man discovered? Would that be that effective? The goal of this thesis is to summarize the evolution of advertising from its beginning and to point out its possibilities and changes it underwent over the time depending on technological progress. It shall prove we're living in the age of technological determinism which influenced the development of not only advertising but whole society to some serious extent. The thesis is supplemented by many examples of specific adverts. I believe it may serve to people as a brief overview of the evolution of advertising and as an orientation in the advertising branch in terms of technology

Analysis of the popularly educational broadcast by internet television Stream: Gebrian Vs and its comparison with similar tv shows on the same topic on other tv platforms

The diploma thesis is devoted to freshly emerging TV shows about architecture and public space on the platforms of the two biggest internet TVs in the Czech Republic: Stream.cz and MALL.TV. The work specifically analyzes the following broadcasts: Gebrian VS, Gebrian: Surprising Buildings, Gebrian: PLUS/MINUS, in terms of their distinctive formats. The main purpose of the thesis is to point out the existence of these programs and to identify the formal and genre aspects that shape their unique form. The important part of the research is carried out by comparing the shows based on the platforms on which they are created and which provide different conditions for production. The following theoretical foundations were used: genre theory, presentation of specific genres related to the examined programs, media convergence and internet TVs and their recent production. The qualitative elements, including the visual communication means, which lead to the recognition of the genre construction of a specific TV show, are examined by combined visual and semiotic analysis. Quantitative elements such as tone and footage are analyzed by content analysis. The research reveals some significant differences in the examined TV shows based on a platform they are made on. These are identified as different approaches to...Diplomová práce se věnuje čerstvě vznikajícím pořadům o architektuře a veřejném prostoru na platformách dvou největších internetových televizí na českém mediálním trhu Stream.cz a MALL.TV. Práce konkrétně rozebírá pořady Gebrian VS, Gebrian: Překvapivé stavby, Gebrian: PLUS/MINUS, a to z hlediska jejich svébytných formátů. Hlavním smyslem práce je poukázat na existenci těchto pořadů a identifikovat formální a žánrové aspekty, které utváří jejich unikátní podobu. Klíčovou roli hraje jejich srovnání na základě platforem, na kterých vznikají, a které poskytují odlišné podmínky pro jejich tvorbu. I vzhledem k analýze formátů pořadů byly využity následující teoretická východiska: teorie žánru, prezentace konkrétních žánrů souvisejících se zkoumanými pořady, mediální konvergence a tvorba internetových televizí. Kvalitativní prvky, jako jsou výrazové prostředky videa vedoucí k rozpoznání žánrové výstavby pořadu, jsou zkoumány kombinovanou obrazovou a sémiotickou analýzou. Kvantitativní prvky jako jsou tón a stopáž potom kvantitativně-kvalitativní obsahovou analýzou.
