Complementarity between human capital and trade in regional technological progress
The effect of openness and trade orientation on economic growth remains a highly contentious issue. Trade facilitates knowledge diffusion and the adoption of more advanced and efficient technologies which faster total factor productivity (TFP) growth and, hence, per capita income. New technologies that diffuse by trade require a sufficiently qualified labour force to adapt them into the domestic productive environment. Thus, openness and human capital accumulation will lead to TFP growth, and the larger the complementarity between both variables the higher TFP growth. The paper discusses the implications of these assumptions and tests their empirical validity using a pool of data for the industrial sector in the Spanish regions in a period in which both the stock of human capital and openness experienced a not able improvement. Key words: trade, human capital, technological progress and regions. JEL category: C23, D24, O33.
Complementarity between human capital and trade in regional technological progress
The effect of openness and trade orientation on economic growth remains a highly contentious issue in the literature. Trade facilitates the spread of knowledge and the adoption of more advanced and efficient technologies, which hastens total factor productivity (TFP) growth and, hence, per capita income. New technologies that spread through trade require a sufficiently skilled labour force to adapt them to the domestic productive environment. Thus, openness and human capital accumulation will lead to TFP growth and the greater the complementarity between both variables, the higher the TFP growth. This paper discusses the implications of these assumptions and tests their empirical validity, using a pool of data for manufacturing industry in Spanish regions in a period in which both the stock of human capital and openness experienced a notable increase.technological progress, industry, human capital, trade
This paper analyzes the implications of promoting protective resources through family and school in Yucatec Maya migrant students. They operate in conditions of poverty, social exclusion, school violence, unwanted pregnancies and alcohol and tobacco addiction that sometimes lead them to dropout, thus increasing the adverse situation in which they find themselves. Hence the importance of promoting in these students, while they are still in high school, the development of resilient abilities and personal resources whose purpose is to improve their positive adjustment to school and consequently, their own personal and family circumstances.
Review: The Role Of Hyperleptinemia In Chronic Degenerative Diseases
Leptin is a protein that belongs to the family of cytokines, it’s mainly produced by adipose tissue and its main function is to inform the nervous system about the amount of such tissue present in the organism, it also participates in the regulation of the neuroendocrine function and in the control of food intake; however, this molecule can also act in other tissues because their receptors are present in them. It has been identified that abnormal values of this protein can lead to have or aggravate some pathologies, such as cardiovascular, inflammatory, cancer, etc; since leptin is considered as a hormone that has proliferative, mitogenic, antiapoptotic and proinflammatory activity. Hyperleptinemia is a condition presented when leptin levels are above the normal level in the bloodstream (1-15 ng/ml) usually caused by physiological disorders such as obesity. Hyperleptinemia has been associated with several chronic degenerative diseases, where it has a strong relationship with the molecular basis of these diseases, either by direct action on the tissue or by its chemotactic ability to attract other molecules involved in the development of the disease. Because of these, abnormal levels of leptin in the body can be considered as a marker of disease, as described in this review
