Activation of RyR2 by class I kinase inhibitors
Kinase inhibitors are a common treatment for cancer. Class I kinase inhibitors that target the ATP-binding pocket are particularly prevalent. Many of these compounds are cardiotoxic and can cause arrhythmias. Spontaneous release of Ca2+ via cardiac ryanodine receptors (RyR2), through a process termed store overload-induced Ca2+ release (SOICR), is a common mechanism underlying arrhythmia. We explored whether class I kinase inhibitors could modify the activity of RyR2 and trigger SOICR to determine if this contributes to the cardiotoxic nature of these compounds.Centro de Investigaciones Cardiovasculare
The LOFAR Two-Metre Sky Survey (LoTSS): VI. Optical identifications for the second data release
The second data release of the LOFAR Two-Metre Sky Survey (LoTSS) covers 27%
of the northern sky, with a total area of deg. The high
angular resolution of LOFAR with Dutch baselines (6 arcsec) allows us to carry
out optical identifications of a large fraction of the detected radio sources
without further radio followup; however, the process is made more challenging
by the many extended radio sources found in LOFAR images as a result of its
excellent sensitivity to extended structure. In this paper we present source
associations and identifications for sources in the second data release based
on optical and near-infrared data, using a combination of a likelihood-ratio
cross-match method developed for our first data release, our citizen science
project Radio Galaxy Zoo: LOFAR, and new approaches to algorithmic optical
identification, together with extensive visual inspection by astronomers. We
also present spectroscopic or photometric redshifts for a large fraction of the
optical identifications. In total 4,116,934 radio sources lie in the area with
good optical data, of which 85% have an optical or infrared identification and
58% have a good redshift estimate. We demonstrate the quality of the dataset by
comparing it with earlier optically identified radio surveys. This is by far
the largest ever optically identified radio catalogue, and will permit robust
statistical studies of star-forming and radio-loud active galaxies.Comment: 29 pages. Accepted by A&A; data products available at

La vacanza in Sardegna. Esperienze turistiche a confronto
The Official Data and the Underestimated Tourist Flow: The Sardinia Case
The touristic phenomenon represents a more and more relevant factor for the social and economic development in Sardinia. For this reason, researchers and policy makers need correct data about touristic flows. In this paper, we propose a method to estimate correctly tourist flows and to provide exact measures of the tourist arrivals.
In Italy, the National Institute of Statistics measures tourist flows by organizing direct, total and periodic surveys based on registrations of customers in touristic structures like hotels, camping, etc. However the official data are significant underestimated. As a matter of fact, the official source considers only the official tourist flow, since the real flow includes also a non-observed component. This hidden segment mainly comprises tourists in second homes or summer houses that official agencies generally do not take into account.
The aim of this study is to measure this hidden component of the Sardinian tourism and to identify the most relevant features of these tourists.
The data of the analysis was collected in 2009 and 2010 by using a survey technique based on the Time Location Sampling methodology. This survey has been carried out in the ports and the airports of the Sardinia Island, interviewing tourist before leave. A specific question registered the kind of accommodation in which tourists spent their holidays.
By using specific sampling techniques, we will estimate the proportion of tourists that are not included in the official data. These proportions will be provided according to different typologies of tourists (e.g. Italian and foreign tourists) in order to identify which kind of tourists are more underestimated.
Basing on some preliminary results, we can say that the hidden component of tourism in Sardinia represents almost half of the official estimations. Moreover, this phenomenon seems to be mainly related to the second houses and the houses for vacations
Zeri e LODE. Extracting the Zeri photo archive to Linked Open Data: formalizing the conceptual model
This paper presents the first steps of a project to convert the notable Italian “Zeri photo archive” to a linked and open dataset. The full project entails the analysis of the records’ description model (Scheda F) in order to define a suitable ontology by exploring existing data models, the creation of the RDF triple store, the creation of links to the cloud, and the definition of the user interface for browsing the linked open dataset. This paper presents and discusses the conceptual modeling of the data stored in the Zeri archival database
