Improving the Students’ Speaking Skill Through Snakes and Ladders (Sl) on Second Semester Students of English Study Program at Stain Bengkalis

The aim of the research was to describe the learning atmosphere during the implementation of “Snakes and Ladders” in teaching Speaking. Besides, the research was also designed to know how the improvement of the students’ Speaking skill during the implementation of “Snakes and Ladders”. This research was a classroom action research. The participants of this research were 27 second semester students of English Study Program at STAIN Bengkalis. This research was conducted in two cycles by following the procedure of action research, i.e. planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation, questionnaire, and test. The lecturer was the researcher assisted by collaborator as observer. The questionnaire was given to the students before and after the implementation of “Snakes and Ladders”. The tests were in the form of pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The qualitative data were analyzed using Interactive Model of Data Analysis as propounded by Matthew M. Miles and A.M. Huberman. The results of the research showed that the learning atmosphere also improved. The class became more active and confident. Furthermore, “Snakes and Ladders” was able to improve the students’ Speaking Skill. It was proven by the increase of the students’ mean score from 41.16 in pre-test to 46.21 in cycle 1, and 48.98 in cycle 2, although the results of the research were just a little bit improvement. It could be concluded that the use of “Snakes and Ladders” has proven to be an effective way in teaching-learning of Speaking Skill on Second Semester of English Study Program at STAIN Bengkalis

Exploring the Values of Education through Post-Death Traditions in Indonesia

This research explores the values ​​of character education in post-death traditions in Indonesia. Post-death traditions play an important role in Indonesian culture and often reflect deep social values, ethics, and beliefs. This research involves an in-depth analysis of post-death traditions, including funeral ceremonies, memorial rituals, and related practices. The research method used in this research is library research and analysis of documents related to post-death traditions. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide a deeper understanding of the role of education in post-mortem traditions and how these values ​​can be integrated into the context of formal education in Indonesia. The findings of this research can provide new insights into how education and culture are interrelated, as well as how local traditions can contribute to the sustainable development of education in Indonesia. ANALISIS PENGARUH DISIPLIN KERJA DAN STRES KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA KARYAWAN (Studi pada Perawat RS PKU Muhammadiyah Cepu)

This research aim to determine the influence of work discipline and work stress on the nurse performance. However employee performance is the most important asset of all there was a problem of decreasing nurse performance at PKU Muhammadiyah Cepu Hospital. This research was conducted on PKU Muhammadiyah Cepu Hospital. Samples were selected by applying Saturated Sampling method (Census Sampling). Data was obtained bydirectly giving questionnaires to 79 nurses. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression to. Data testing techniques that used in this study are validity test, reliability test, classical assumption test, t test, f test,and coefficient of determination test. The results showed that H1 is accepted that work discipline (0,567) is positive and significant effect on nurse performance. H2 is accepted that work stress (-0,389) is negative and significant impact on nurse performance. This variables have an impact of 40,4% on nurse’s performance. While the remaining 59,6% is influenced by other variables outside of this study

Profile of Flexibility of High School Students in Mathematical Problem-Solving Based on Personality Type

e-mail: [email protected] Abstract Flexibility and problem-solving are two things that cannot be separated. One of the causes of differences in strategy in problem-solving is personality. This study is descriptive study using a qualitative approach. This study aims to describe the flexibility of high school students in mathematics problem-solving based on Keirsey personality types. The subjects in this study are four students with different types of personality. For data collection, this study used personality classification tests, mathematical ability tests, mathematical flexibility tests, and interview guidelines. The results show that the guardian student solves the problem using one strategy, namely the concept of addition and fraction multiplication and the answers obtained are incorrect. The artisan students solve the problem using two different strategies, namely drawing a picture and use a variable then the results of all answers are correct. Rational student solves the problem using two different strategies, namely use a variable and draw a picture, but cannot finish the second strategy. Idealist student solves the problem using two different strategies, namely use a variable and use direct reasoning then the answers are correct, but the second strategy is an advanced strategy. Analisis Nilai Laju Endap Darah pada Pasien Sindrom Koroner Akut dan Stable Angina di RSD dr. Soebandi Jember (The Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate Analysis in Acute Coronary Syndrome and Stable Angina Patients at dr. Soebandi General Hospital)

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) is non-specific blood tests that can be used as a marker of chronic inflammation. Some proteins that affect the erythrocyte sedimentation rate are fibrinogen, lipoprotein, and immunoglobulins. These proteins elevate in patients with atherosclerosis and acute coronary syndrome. This study aimed to determine the relationship between erythrocyte sedimentation rate and the incidence of acute coronary syndrome and stable angina at dr. Soebandi General Hospital Jember. This analytic observasional study using cross-sectional design.This study used 40 samples, divided into four groups; stable angina, UA, NSTEMI, and STEMI. The average value of ESR were 12,1mm/h, 20,7mm/h, 28,9mm/h, and 25,3mm/h for stable angina, UA, NSTEMI, and STEMI, respectively. Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistical test showed significant difference between groups(p=0.001). It indicated that there was relationship between erythrocyte sedimentation rate and the incidence of acute coronary syndrome and stable angina in dr. KEANEKARAGAMAN SERANGGA PREDATOR PADA TANAMAN KELAPA SAWIT (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) DI PT PERKEBUNAN NUSANTARA VI KEBUN OPHIR DAN PERKEBUNAN RAKYAT KABUPATEN PASAMAN BARAT

Serangga predator berperan dalam mengendalikan populasi hama. Oleh sebab itu, keberadaannya perlu dipertahankan pada perkebunan kelapa sawit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari keanekaragaman serangga predator pada tanaman kelapa sawit, yang dilaksanakan di PT Perkebunan Nusantara VI Kebun Ophir dan Perkebunan Rakyat Kabupaten Pasaman Barat. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan dari bulan Mei sampai dengan Agustus 2018. Pengambilan sampel setiap lokasi ditetapkan sebanyak 10 pohon kelapa sawit secara diagonal, sedangkan serangga predator dikoleksi dari setiap sampel pohon dengan metode penyemprotan menggunakan bahan aktif Deltametrin 25 g/l. Parameter yang diamati pada penelitian meliputi: indeks keanekaragaman, indeks kemerataan, dan indeks dominansi, yang dianalisis secara berurut menggunakan indeks Shannon-Wienner, Pielou, dan indeks nilai penting. Total serangga predator yang dikoleksi sebanyak 653 individu yang terdiri dari 4 ordo, 6 famili, dan 10 genus. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan keanekaragaman dan kemerataan genus serangga predator di PT Perkebunan Nusanatara VI Kebun Ophir lebih tinggi (H' = 1,8104; E= 0,87061) dibandingkan Perkebunan Rakyat (H' = 1,5589; E = 0,7095). Genus serangga predator yang dominan ditemukan di PT Perkebunan Nusantara VI Kebun Ophir yaitu Anoplolepis, sedangkan di Perkebunan Rakyat dominan ditemukan genus Anoplolepis dan Crematogaster.
