Introduction Biomet Vanguard(R) Complete Knee System is a total knee replacement system, introduced into the market in 2003: thissystem boasts a designed kneecap track or groove which allows for greater mobility and decreased loss of healthy bone during the replacement process. Clinical and radiographic results in Varese Orthopaedics Unit initial experience are reported. Materials and methods Clinical and radiographic parameters are evaluated in 29 patients who underwent TKA (Vanguard(R) Complete Knee System- Biomet Inc.) for primary gonarthrosis during the last 2 years at Orthopaedics and Traumatology Unit of Ospedale di Circolo—Fondazione Macchi in Varese. ROM, type of anaesthesia, patellar pain, clinical and functional Knee Score (pre-operative), size of implant, ROM, blooding, patellar pain, VAS, clinical and func- tional Knee Score (post-operative) are analyzed. Radiographic follow-up is made at 6 and 12 months. Results Clinical and Functional Knee Score respectively improve from 47 to 88 pts and from 51 to 88 pts in pre- and post-operative period (p\0.001). Post-operatively no patellar pain, 2 pts VAS and 1215 cc blooding are reported. ROM doesn’t significantly improve from pre- to post-operative. No relevant complications are reported. Due to the short follow-up, radiographic evaluation does not allow to demonstrate polyethylene liner wear. Conclusions Vanguard(R) Knee Replacement significantly shows a clinical and functional improvement in patients affected by primary gonarthrosis. Moreover, post-operative pain decrease allows early mobilization and rehabilitation

7 pages, 2 postscript figures. Submitted to Phys. Rev. Lett - P. Grenier aussi au LPCWe present a measurement of the branching fraction of the decay B0 --> a1(1260)^{+-} pi^{-+} with a1(1260)^{+-} --> pi^{-+} pi^{+-} pi^{+-}. The data sample consists of 218 million B B-bar pairs collected at the Y(4S) resonance and recorded by the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC. The analysis is based on unbinned multivariate maximum likelihood fit. The measured branching fraction is: (16.6 +/- 1.9 +/- 1.5) 10^{-6}. The decay mode, observed for the first time, is seen with a significance of 9.2 sigma (systematic uncertainties included)

We present a measurement of the branching fraction of the decay B0→a1±(1260)π∓ with a1±(1260)→π∓π±π±. The data sample corresponds to 218×106 BB̅ pairs produced in e+e- annihilation through the ΄(4S) resonance. We measure the branching fraction B(B0→a1±(1260)π∓)B(a1±(1260)→π∓π±π±)=(16.6±1.9±1.5)×10-6, where the first error quoted is statistical and the second is systematic

We present measurements of the branching fractions for the three-body decays B0→D(*) 13K0\u3c0\ub1 and their resonant submodes B0→D(*) 13K*\ub1 using a sample of approximately 88 7106 BB\u305 pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric energy storage ring. We measure: B(B0→D 13K0\u3c0\ub1)=(4.9\ub10.7stat\ub10.5syst) 710-4, B(B0→D* 13K0\u3c0\ub1)=(3.0\ub10.7stat\ub10.3syst) 710-4, B(B0→D 13K*\ub1)=(4.6\ub10.6stat\ub10.5syst) 710-4, B(B0→D* 13K*\ub1)=(3.2\ub10.6stat\ub10.3syst) 710-4. From these measurements we determine the fractions of resonant events to be f(B0→D 13K*\ub1)=0.63\ub10.08stat\ub10.04syst and f(B0→D* 13K*\ub1)=0.72\ub10.14stat\ub10.05syst

The shape of the hadronic form factor f(+)(q(2)) in the decay D-0 -> K(-)e(+)nu(e) has been measured in a model independent analysis and compared with theoretical calculations. We use 75 fb(-1) of data recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II electron-positron collider. The corresponding decay branching fraction, relative to the decay D-0 -> K-pi(+), has also been measured to be R-D=B(D-0 -> K(-)e(+)nu(e)(gamma))/B(D-0 -> K-pi(+)(gamma))=0.927 +/- 0.007 +/- 0.012. From these results, and using the present world average value for B(D-0 -> K-pi(+)), the normalization of the form factor at q(2)=0 is determined to be f(+)(0)=0.727 +/- 0.007 +/- 0.005 +/- 0.007 where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from external inputs, respectively
