Folding model analysis of proton scattering from O nuclei
The elastic and inelastic proton scattering on O nuclei are
studied in a folding model formalism of nucleon-nucleus optical potential and
inelastic form factor. The DDM3Y effective interaction is used and the ground
state densities are obtained in continuum Skyrme-HFB approach. A
semi-microscopic approach of collective form factors is done to extract the
deformation parameters from inelastic scattering analysis while the microscopic
approach uses the continuum QRPA form factors. Implications of the values of
the deformation parameters, neutron and proton transition moments for the
nuclei are discussed. The p-analyzing powers on O nuclei are also
predicted in the same framework.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
Nucleon-nucleus scattering as a test of shell structure of some light mass exotic nuclei
Shell model wave functions have been used to form microscopic g-folding
optical potentials with which elastic scattering data from 8He, 10,11C, and
18,20,22O scattering on hydrogen has been analyzed. Those potentials, the
effective two-nucleon interaction used in their formation, and the shell model
details, then have been used in distorted wave approximation calculations of
differential cross sections from inelastic scattering to the first excited
states of five of those radioactive ions.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure
Detecting bubbles in exotic nuclei
The occurrence of a bubble, due to an inversion of s state with the
state usually located above, is investigated. Proton bubbles in neutron-rich
Argon isotopes are optimal candidates. Pairing effects which can play against
the bubble formation are evaluated. They cannot prevent bubble formation in
very neutron-rich argon isotopes such as Ar. This pleads for a
measurement of the charge density of neutron-rich argon isotopes in the
forthcoming years, with the advent of electron scattering experiments in next
generation exotic beam facilities such as FAIR or RIBF.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, to be published in Nucl. Phys.
Use of contraceptives by Roma women from Plovdiv region
Introduction: The share of unwanted pregnancies and voluntary abortions among women from Central and Eastern Europe is still quite high, and Bulgaria is no exception to this statistic. This might be accounted for by the low frequency of use of contraceptives or their improper use. Our country is home to a variety of ethnic groups, with Roma being one of the most numerous, ranking third in population behind Bulgarians and Turks. This determines the influence of this ethnic group on the demographic indicators of the country. Aim: To study the knowledge of contraceptive use and the frequency of use of contraceptive methods and means among Roma women from the Plovdiv region and the factors influencing it. Materials and methods: This cross-sectional survey was conducted among 70 Roma women via structured, anonymous interviews in 2019. Statistical data analysis was performed using non-parametric methods, descriptive and correlation analyses. Results: The main method of preventing unwanted pregnancies for the Roma is the interrupted intercourse. The husband and his mother influence the decision to use contraception. Higher education and financial security have a positive effect on the frequency of contraceptive use. Conclusions: Reproductive behaviour among Roma is largely determined by their ethnic traditions. Characteristic features were observed, such as early marriages, early sexual intercourse, short pro- and intergenetic interval. Roma women have little knowledge of the various methods and means of preventing unwanted pregnancies. The frequency of contraceptive use is very low
The benefits of sports for the physical and mental health of adolescents
A healthy lifestyle is the main expression of positive health behavior. Movement is a natural need of every child and is a basic preventive tool for strengthening childrenâs health. Sport is a complex process that improves the qualities of movements, strengthens the muscles of the body and forms physical endurance through its positive influence on all organs and systems. Sports activities have a beneficial effect on the psyche and personality of adolescents and are defined as the main factor for maintaining, preserving and improving health and a healthy lifestyle. In most European countries, the teaching methodology is aimed at finding the meaning and encouraging the desire of each student to engage in regular physical activity. The article aims to familiarize the audience with the impact of sports on various organs and systems, with the benefits for the physical and mental health of adolescents from sports activities, as well as to provide information on recommendations for the correct choice of sports depending on the constitution and disposition of adolescents
Charge and current-sensitive preamplifiers for pulse shape discrimination techniques with silicon detectors
New charge and current-sensitive preamplifiers coupled to silicon detectors
and devoted to studies in nuclear structure and dynamics have been developed
and tested. For the first time shapes of current pulses from light charged
particles and carbon ions are presented. Capabilities for pulse shape

Prevention of cardiovascular diseases
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are socially significant diseases due to high morbidity and loss of people of working age. In Bulgaria, they are the leading cause of mortality among the population and are a consequence of the effect of cardiovascular risk factors. The draft of the National Health Strategy (NHS) 2021â2030 reports on their wide distribution, as well as on the insufficient knowledge, skills and motivation for their prevention and control. The purpose of this review is to address the prevention of cardiovascular disease, which is a significant problem worldwide. Prevention goals for patients with established cardiovascular disease and those at high risk include smoking cessation, healthy eating, physical activity, and lowering body mass index. There are various methods that are part of health promotion to reduce CVD risks. These methods include motivational interviewing, non-pharmacological means, the use of certain medications for CVD prevention, as well as physical activity. Strategies for effective primary prevention refer to engaging the patient to change their lifestyle and identifying risk factors, while secondary prevention is aimed at activities to detect the disease early and to slow down its progression. It is necessary to create a strategy for timely preventive actions with a view to preventing the negative influence of risk factors and improving peopleâs heart health
Low-lying states and structure of the exotic He via direct reactions on the proton
International audienceThe structure of the light exotic nucleus 8He was investigated using direct reactions of the 8He SPIRAL beam on a proton-rich target. The (p,p') scattering to the Click to view the MathML source state, the (p,d)7He and (p,t)6He transfer reactions, were measured at the energy Elab=15.7 A.MeV. The light charged particles (p,d,t) were detected in the MUST Si-strip telescope array. The excitation spectrum of 8He was extracted from the (p,p') reaction. Above the known Click to view the MathML source excited state at 3.6 MeV, a second resonance was found around 5.4 MeV. The cross sections were analyzed within the coupled-reaction channels framework, using microscopic potentials. It is inferred that the 8He ground state has a more complex neutron-skin structure than suggested by previous α+4n models assuming a pure (1p3/2)4 configuration
Experimental evidence for subshell closure in He and indication of a resonant state in He below 1 MeV
NESTERThe spectroscopy of the unstable He and unbound He nuclei is investigated via the p(He, d) transfer reaction with a 15.7A MeV He beam from the SPIRAL facility. The emitted deuterons were detected by the telescope array MUST. The results are analyzed within the coupled-channels Born approximation framework, and a spectroscopic factor S=4.4±1.3 for neutron pickup to the He_g.s.^{8}^{7}E^*\GammaE^*$=2.9±0.1 MeV. Both are in agreement with previous separate measurements. The reproduction of the first excited state below 1 MeV would be a challenge for the most sophisticated nuclear theories
The N=14 shell closure in O viewed through a neutron sensitive probe
NESTER PTHInternational audienceTo investigate the behavior of the N=14 neutron gap far from stability with a neutron-sensitive probe, proton elastic and 2+1 inelastic scattering angular distributions for the neutron-rich nucleus 22O were measured with a secondary beam intensity of only 1200 particles per second using the MUST silicon strip detector array at the GANIL facility. A phenomenological analysis yields a deformation parameter bp;p' = 0.26 +- 0.04 for the 2+1 state, much lower than in 20O, showing a surprisingly weak neutron contribution to this state. A fully microscopic analysis was performed using optical potentials obtained from matter and transition densities generated by continuum Skyrme-HFB and QRPA calculations, respectively. When the present results and those from a 22O + 197Au scattering experiment are combined, the ratio of neutron to proton contributions to the 2+1 state is found close to the N/Z ratio, demonstrating a strong N=14 shell closure in the vicinity of the neutron drip-line
