Superficies de titanio en implantes dentales de carga inmediata
Se ha obtenido una capa de fosfato de calcio del mismo contenido mineral que el hueso en la superficie del implante dental de titanio, que tiene como consecuencia una muy rápida y eficaz osteointegración. Esta capa se ha obtenido mediante un método biomimético por vía termoquímica. La capa se une al substrato por enlace químico. Este hecho evita todos los inconvenientes de los métodos de recubrimiento convencionales (plasma spray, ablación láser...) cuya unión es por interacción mecánica, lo cual provocaba que hubiese espacio vacío entre el substrato y la capa facilitando la colonización bacteriana (periimplantitis) y un desprendimiento y degradación acelerados de la misma. Con la formación de la capa por el método termoquímico, sobre la superficie rugosa del implante, el tiempo de convalecencia se reduce significativamente ya que colocamos una estructura en la superficie del implante que las células reconocen, facilitando el crecimiento óseo alrededor del implante dental. A esta capacidad de formar capas cerámicas de fosfato de calcio en la superficie del biomaterial se la conoce como bioactividad y, anteriormente, era una habilidad que sólo tenían algunas cerámicas y vidrios. El desarrollo y obtención de estos implantes de titanio con una rugosidad optimizada y bioactivos combina una magnífica fijación mecánica con la rapidez del crecimiento del hueso, con lo que se consigue un implante con mejor osteointegración tanto a corto como a largo plazo
A basic probability assignment methodology for unsupervised wireless intrusion detection
YesThe broadcast nature of wireless local area networks has made them prone to several types
of wireless injection attacks, such as Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) at the physical layer, deauthentication, and
rogue access point attacks. The implementation of novel intrusion detection systems (IDSs) is fundamental to
provide stronger protection against these wireless injection attacks. Since most attacks manifest themselves
through different metrics, current IDSs should leverage a cross-layer approach to help toward improving the
detection accuracy. The data fusion technique based on the Dempster–Shafer (D-S) theory has been proven
to be an efficient technique to implement the cross-layer metric approach. However, the dynamic generation
of the basic probability assignment (BPA) values used by D-S is still an open research problem. In this
paper, we propose a novel unsupervised methodology to dynamically generate the BPA values, based on
both the Gaussian and exponential probability density functions, the categorical probability mass function,
and the local reachability density. Then, D-S is used to fuse the BPA values to classify whether the Wi-Fi
frame is normal (i.e., non-malicious) or malicious. The proposed methodology provides 100% true positive
rate (TPR) and 4.23% false positive rate (FPR) for the MitM attack and 100% TPR and 2.44% FPR for the

Hidden Markov models and alert correlations for the prediction of advanced persistent threats
YesCyber security has become a matter of a global interest, and several attacks target industrial companies and governmental organizations. The advanced persistent threats (APTs) have emerged as a new and complex version of multi-stage attacks (MSAs), targeting selected companies and organizations. Current APT detection systems focus on raising the detection alerts rather than predicting APTs. Forecasting the APT stages not only reveals the APT life cycle in its early stages but also helps to understand the attacker's strategies and aims. This paper proposes a novel intrusion detection system for APT detection and prediction. This system undergoes two main phases; the first one achieves the attack scenario reconstruction. This phase has a correlation framework to link the elementary alerts that belong to the same APT campaign. The correlation is based on matching the attributes of the elementary alerts that are generated over a configurable time window. The second phase of the proposed system is the attack decoding. This phase utilizes the hidden Markov model (HMM) to determine the most likely sequence of APT stages for a given sequence of correlated alerts. Moreover, a prediction algorithm is developed to predict the next step of the APT campaign after computing the probability of each APT stage to be the next step of the attacker. The proposed approach estimates the sequence of APT stages with a prediction accuracy of at least 91.80%. Transparent nanometric organic luminescent films as UV-active components in photonic structures
A new kind of visible-blind organic thin-film material, consisting of a polymeric matrix with a high concentration of embedded 3-hydroxyflavone (3HF) dye molecules, that absorbs UV light and emits green light is presented. The thin films can be grown on sensitive substrates, including flexible polymers and paper. Assessment of oceanographic services for the monitoring of highly anthropised coastal lagoons: The Mar Menor case study
Ocean monitoring systems are designed for continuous monitoring to track their evolution and anticipate environmental issues. However, they are often based on IoT systems that offer little spatial coverage and are hard to maintain. Satellite remote sensing offers good geographical coverage but they also face several challenges to become a monitoring system. This paper introduces an easy-to-use software tool to crawl water-quality data from up to 6 satellite instruments from the ESA and NASA. Particularly, Chl-a data is deeply analyzed in terms of reliability and data coverage for a highly anthropised coastal lagoon (Mar Menor, Spain), where serious socio-environmental issues are happening. Our results show a good linear correlation between in situ data and SRS data, reaching values close to 0.9, and stating the relevance of organic matter inputs from ephemeral streams in Chl-a concentrations. Demonstration of event position reconstruction based on diffusion in the NEXT-white detector
[EN] Noble element time projection chambers are a leading technology for rare event detection in physics, such as for dark matter and neutrinoless double beta decay searches. Time projection chambers typically assign event position in the drift direction using the relative timing of prompt scintillation and delayed charge collection signals, allowing for reconstruction of an absolute position in the drift direction. In this paper, alternate methods for assigning event drift distance via quantification of electron diffusion in a pure high pressure xenon gas time projection chamber are explored. Data from the NEXT-White detector demonstrate the ability to achieve good position assignment accuracy for both high- and low-energy events. Using point-like energy deposits from Kr-83m calibration electron captures (E similar to 45 keV), the position of origin of low-energy events is determined to 2 cm precision with bias = 1.5 MeV), from radiogenic electrons, yielding a precision of 3 cm on the event barycenter. Evaluation of turbulent dissipation rate retrievals from Doppler Cloud Radar
Turbulent dissipation rate retrievals from cloud radar Doppler velocity measurements are evaluated using independent, in situ observations in Arctic stratocumulus clouds. In situ validation data sets of dissipation rate are derived using sonic anemometer measurements from a tethered balloon and high frequency pressure variation observations from a research aircraft, both flown in proximity to stationary, ground-based radars. Modest biases are found among the data sets in particularly low- or high-turbulence regimes, but in general the radar-retrieved values correspond well with the in situ measurements. Root mean square differences are typically a factor of 4-6 relative to any given magnitude of dissipation rate. These differences are no larger than those found when comparing dissipation rates computed from tetheredballoon and meteorological tower-mounted sonic anemometer measurements made at spatial distances of a few hundred meters. Temporal lag analyses suggest that approximately half of the observed differences are due to spatial sampling considerations, such that the anticipated radar-based retrieval uncertainty is on the order of a factor of 2-3. Moreover, radar retrievals are clearly able to capture the vertical dissipation rate structure observed by the in situ sensors, while offering substantially more information on the time variability of turbulence profiles. Together these evaluations indicate that radar-based retrievals can, at a minimum, be used to determine the vertical structure of turbulence in Arctic stratocumulus clouds
The ALHAMBRA survey: evolution of galaxy clustering since z ~ 1
We study the clustering of galaxies as function of luminosity and redshift in the range 0.35 < z < 1.25 using data from the Advanced Large Homogeneous Area Medium-Band Redshift Astronomical (ALHAMBRA) survey. The ALHAMBRA data used in this work cover 2.38 deg2 in seven independent fields, after applying a detailed angular selection mask, with accurate photometric redshifts, σz ≲ 0.014(1 + z), down to IAB < 24. Given the depth of the survey, we select samples in B-band luminosity down to Lth ≃ 0.16L* at z = 0.9. We measure the real-space clustering using the projected correlation function, accounting for photometric redshifts uncertainties. We infer the galaxy bias, and study its evolution with luminosity. We study the effect of sample variance, and confirm earlier results that the Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS) and European Large Area ISO Survey North 1 (ELAIS-N1) fields are dominated by the presence of large structures. For the intermediate and bright samples, Lmed ≳ 0.6L*, we obtain a strong dependence of bias on luminosity, in agreement with previous results at similar redshift. We are able to extend this study to fainter luminosities, where we obtain an almost flat relation, similar to that observed at low redshift. Regarding the evolution of bias with redshift, our results suggest that the different galaxy populations studied reside in haloes covering a range in mass between log10[Mh/( h−1 M⊙)] ≳ 11.5 for samples with Lmed ≃ 0.3L* and log10[Mh/( h−1 M⊙)] ≳ 13.0 for samples with Lmed ≃ 2L*, with typical occupation numbers in the range of ∼1–3 galaxies per halo
