Comparison of humic acids production by Trichoderma viride and Trichoderma reesei using the submerged fermentation of oil palm empty fruit bunch

The remarkable properties of humic acids have generated a broad spectrum of applications in pharmaceutical, cosmetic and agricultural fields, and encouraged fermentation studies focusing on humic acids production. This work compares the humic acids production of Trichoderma (viride and reesei) species using empty fruit bunch as the substrate during submerged fermentation. The performance of each species was compared by examining spore production in oat medium, and the significant medium components and fermentation conditions were identified using Plackett and Burman statistical design. For both Trichoderma species, the results indicate that humic acids production can be enhanced by increasing the temperature, empty fruit bunch and peptone concentrations and by decreasing the (NH4)2SO4 concentration. Contributos para a elaboração de um plano de marketing territorial para as vilas de Almeida e de Vilar Formoso

Num contexto de concorrência entre os territórios pela captação de recursos suscetíveis de in-centivar o desenvolvimento (investimentos, residentes, turistas, eventos, entre outros), a perspe-tiva de marketing territorial assume-se como uma ferramenta de gestão territorial extremamente útil e atual no processo de constituição de uma imagem eficaz do território, de modo a que se torne mais apelativa para os públicos pretendidos. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é apresentar as linhas gerais da elaboração do plano de Mar-keting Territorial para o concelho de Almeida. São identificadas as ações que devem ser levadas a cabo, e definido o marketing mix do plano de Marketing o qual envolveu a realização de 11 ações e sub-ações, organizadas em termos da política dos 3p. A existência de um Plano de Marketing Territorial reforça a importância da construção e con-vergência numa visão de futuro, prospetiva, com definição de metas e objetivos estratégicos para o desenvolvimento e competitividade da região, mobilizando os principais atores da região na seleção e participação em projetos chave para o desenvolvimento do concelho.In a context of competition between regions for attracting susceptible resources to encourage the development (investment, residents, tourists, events, etc.), territorial marketing perspective is assumed as an extremely useful land management tool and present in process formation of an effective image area, so that it becomes more attractive to the intended audiences. Figurative language processing in schizophrenia

When patients diagnosed with schizophrenia process figurative language, they often make literality and/or concreteness mistakes. These mistakes can be related to certain cognitive functions that are underperforming or impaired in schizophrenia. This research found that cognitive functions that often present deficits in patients with schizophrenia (PwS) are working memory, cognitive control, cognitive flexibility and ToM. The aim of this study is to provide evidence of the cognitive impairments that might be underlying poorer figurative language processing in schizophrenia, as well as to shed a light on the cognitive functions that might be at play when figurative language is processed. Disclosing the cognitive functions that can be underperforming in schizophrenia can be relevant for therapeutics and for the development of more effective forms of treatment for the disorder. The present thesis analyses figurative language processing (metaphor, logical metonymy and irony) and theory of mind using eye-tracking and behavioural tasks, both on-line and off-line, to disclose how strongly literality and concreteness of language are present in schizophrenia and how closely related these phenomena are to specific deficits in cognitive functioning

Lifetime Prevalence, Age and Gender Distribution and Age-of-Onset of Psychiatric Disorders in the Sao Paulo Metropolitan Area, Brazil: Results from the Sao Paulo Megacity Mental Health Survey

Objectives: To estimate prevalence, age-of-onset, gender distribution and identify correlates of lifetime psychiatric disorders in the Sao Paulo Metropolitan Area (SPMA). Methods: The Sao Paulo Megacity Mental Health Survey assessed psychiatric disorders on a probabilistic sample of 5,037 adult residents in the SPMA, using the World Mental Health Survey Version of the Composite International Diagnostic Interview. Response rate was 81.3%. Results: Lifetime prevalence for any disorder was 44.8%; estimated risk at age 75 was 57.7%; comorbidity was frequent. Major depression, specific phobias and alcohol abuse were the most prevalent across disorders; anxiety disorders were the most frequent class. Early age-of-onset for phobic and impulse-control disorders and later age-of-onset for mood disorders were observed. Women were more likely to have anxiety and mood disorders, whereas men, substance use disorders. Apart from conduct disorders, more frequent in men, there were no gender differences in impulse-control disorders. There was a consistent trend of higher prevalence in the youngest cohorts. Low education level was associated to substance use disorders. Conclusions: Psychiatric disorders are highly prevalent among the general adult population in the SPMA, with frequent comorbidity, early age-of-onset for most disorders, and younger cohorts presenting higher rates of morbidity. Abstrac

Conhecimento científico e conhecimento escolar: as dificuldades docentes na transposição didática

A compreensão dos aspectos epitemológicos da produção científica e tecnológica, atreladas a capacidade de compreender as relações existentes entre a Ciência, a Tecnologia e a Sociedade, se apresentam como demandas de uma educação científica que busque a formação de alunos aptos ao exercício pleno de sua cidadania. Nesse sentido, o importante processo de transposição didática do conhecimento científico em conhecimento escolar, inerente à sua prática docente, foi nosso objeto de estudo. Também procuramos elucidar quais as principais adaptações que são feitas em caráter didático e compreender como esse professor enxerga as relações científicas e tecnológicas na sociedade e qual o enfoque dado ao ensino de ciências e biologia nesse sentido. Através de entrevistas com sete professores e, utilizando a metodologia de análise do conteúdo, foi possível verificar que alguns fatores como o interesse do aluno pelo aprendizado e a valorização docente afetam diretamente em sua motivação, além de uma urgente revisão nos objetivos da educação CTS e nos conteúdos apresentados pelo currículo escolar. Esses e outros aspectos devem ser incluídos na formação incial desse professor que deverá ser capaz de promover a transposição de conteúdos, considerados complexos, à realidade e capacidade de compreensão do aluno

O desafio da inspeção escolar e a obrigação de resultados em Minas Gerais

O artigo analisa a regulação educativa em Minas Gerais, sob o enfoque da obrigação de resultados, e os seus efeitos sobre a inspeção escolar, função de controle e de verificação dos atos escolares. Os resultados indicam que o governo, por meio de um contrato de gestão, denominado “Acordo de Resultados”, associa as avaliações de desempenho aos resultados do sistema de avaliação, vinculando‑os aos reajustes salariais, prêmios e à progressão nas carreiras docentes. A inspeção escolar busca o reconhecimento profissional, legitimação social e maior participação na política educacional
