Electric motors are much in use as a driver, especially the motor current (DC). One pengotrolan motors direct current (DC) is controlling the direction of rotation. in this case the direction of rotation of the electric motor control (DC) can be applied as the driving gate in everyday life, so as to open and close the gate can be done remotely with a web interface. With the use of computer technology is remote controlling a DC motor with a web interface as the driving gate. controlling the direction of motor rotation direction will be shaking the gate is open or closed. To be able dimamfaat output signal from the computer port required a series of small signal driver that can be used to drive the object to be controlled remotely so that it can mengerakan perputran motors. When relay 1 works then brush motor will get a positive voltage source positive and negative brush motor is connected to the negative pole of the voltage source. Thus, the motor will work the gate open. In the same way to move the contact relay 2, then the opposite conditions occur that the motor will rotate the opposite direction of rotation, so that the gate is closed

Preparation of biscuit incorporating lemon peel powder can be a new approach in formulating fortified fast food. This investigation was made to evaluate quality of prepared biscuits with lemon peel powder. The effect of temperature on drying time and physiochemical properties of lemon peel powder and their effects on biscuits were also examined. Two drying temperatures (650C and 750C) were employed for both blanched and unblanched lemon peel. The formulated biscuit samples incorporating 1 % lemon peel powder were compared with control biscuits which were prepared with 100% wheat flour. It took longer time (18 hr) for drying of blanched sample at 65 0C whereas shorter time (8 hr) was required for that of blanched sample at 750C. There was a significant decrease in the physiochemical properties of lemon peel powder with the increase of temperature except protein and fibre content. In addition, moisture content of the unblanched sample was found to be lower than the blanched sample at the same temperature. Significantly higher ascorbic acid was obtained by the unblanched samples. Protein and fibre content for both unblanched and blanched sample at the same temperature were found to be higher. All the samples were significantly different at 5% level of significance for overall acceptability. Biscuits prepared with unblanched dried lemon peel powder (at 650C) sample secured the highest score in case of all the sensory parameters. Therefore, quality fortified biscuit can be prepared commercially by incorporating 1 % lemon peel powder in wheat flour for the fast food consumer

Mitigation of photon background in nanoplasmonic all-on-chip Raman sensors

    Get PDF
In the quest for a more compact and cheaper Raman sensor, photonic integration and plasmonic enhancement are central. Nanoplasmonic slot waveguides exhibit the benefits of SERS substrates while being compatible with photonic integration and mass-scale (CBIOS) fabrication. A difficulty in pursuing further integration of the Raman sensor with lasers, spectral filters, spectrometers and interconnecting waveguides lies in the presence of a photon background generated by the excitation laser field in any dielectric waveguide constituting those elements. Here, we show this problem can be mitigated by using a multi-mode interferometer and a nanoplasmonic slot waveguide operated in back-reflection to greatly suppress the excitation field behind the sensor while inducing very little photon background. Effects of light, temperature, salinity, and maternal habitat on seed germination of aeluropus lagopoides (Poaceae): An economically important halophyte of arid Arabian deserts

    Get PDF
In this study, salt tolerance during germination of Aeluropus lagopoides (L.) Trin. was tested using fresh seeds collected from three different maternal habitats under three thermoperiods and two light regimes. Additionally, we tested the ability of non-germinated seeds that had been exposed to different concentrations of NaCl to recover their germination in distilled water. The results showed a significant effect of seed source, temperature, and salinity, and some of their two-and three-way interactions on final germination and recovery percentage. The seeds from non-saline provenances had the highest percentages for germination (ca. 79%) under the 35/25 °C temperature regime, whereas the lowest percentages for germination (ca. 21%) was recorded for seeds from saline conditions under the 25/15 °C treatment. Additionally, percent germination was significantly lower for the seeds incubated in the saline solutions (100, 200, 400, and 600 mmol/L NaCl) and germinated under colder conditions (15/25 °C), compared with the seeds incubated in non-saline solutions (control group, 0 mmol/L NaCl) and germinated under warmer conditions (35/25 °C). The highest recovery percentage was recorded for seeds of the hyper-saline habitat incubated at 35/25 °C. Thus, seeds maintained their viability despite experiencing a range of saline conditions and were able to germinate upon the arrival of suitable conditions, which can be an adaptation to its saline arid desert habitat.Fil: Bhatt, Arvind. Dynamics of diffusion controlled chain closure: flexible chain in presence of hydrodynamic interaction

Based on the Wilemski-Fixman approach (J. Chem. Phys. 60, 866 (1974)) we showed that for a flexible chain in theta solvent hydrodynamic interaction treated with an pre-averaging approximation makes ring closing faster if the chain is not very short. Only for a very short chain the ring closing is slower with hydrodynamic interaction on. We have also shown that the ring closing time for a chain with hydrodynamic interaction in theta solvent scales with the chain length (N) as N^(1.527), in good agreement with previous renormalization group calculation based prediction by Freidman et al. (Phys. Rev. A. 40, 5950 (1989))

2019 The Authors. Addiction published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd on behalf of Society for the Study of Addiction Aims: To examine perceptions of extended-release (XR) buprenorphine injections among people who regularly use opioids in Australia. Design: Cross-sectional survey prior to implementation. XR-buprenorphine was registered in Australia in November 2018. Setting: Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart. Participants. A total of 402 people who regularly use opioids interviewed December 2017 to March 2018. Measurements: Primary outcome concerned the proportion of participants who believed XR-buprenorphine would be a good treatment option for them, preferred weekly versus monthly injections and perceived advantages/disadvantages of XR-buprenorphine. Independent variables concerned the demographic characteristics and features of current opioid agonist treatment (OAT; medication-type, dose, prescriber/dosing setting, unsupervised doses, out-of-pocket expenses and travel distance). Findings: Sixty-eight per cent [95% confidence interval (CI) = 63-73%] believed XR-buprenorphine was a good treatment option for them. They were more likely to report being younger [26-35 versus \u3e 55 years; odds ratio (OR) = 3.16, 95% CI = 1.12-8.89; P = 0.029], being female (OR = 1.67, 95% CI = 1.04-2.69; P = 0.034), \u3c 10 years school education (OR = 1.87, 95% CI = 1.12-3.12; P = 0.016) and past-month heroin (OR = 1.81, 95% CI = 1.15-2.85; P = 0.006) and methamphetamine use (OR = 1.90, 95% CI = 1.20-3.01; P = 0.006). Fifty-four per cent reported no preference for weekly versus monthly injections, 7% preferred weekly and 39% preferred monthly. Among OAT recipients (n = 255), believing XR-buprenorphine was a good treatment option was associated with shorter treatment episodes (1-2 versus ≥ 2 years; OR = 3.93, 95% CI = 1.26-12.22; P = 0.018), fewer unsupervised doses (≤ 8 doses past-month versus no take-aways; OR = 0.50; 95% CI = 0.27-0.93; P = 0.028) and longer travel distance (≥ 5 versus \u3c 5 km; OR = 2.10, 95% CI = 1.20-3.65; P = 0.009). Sixty-nine per cent reported \u27no problems or concerns\u27 with potential differences in availability, flexibility and location of XR-buprenorphine. Conclusions: Among regular opioid users in Australia, perceptions of extended-release buprenorphine as a good treatment option are associated with being female, recent illicit drug use and factors relating to the (in)convenience of current opioid agonist treatment

Children’s conceptions of peace in two Ugandan primary schools: Insights for peace curriculum

    Get PDF
Oppenheimer urged communities all over the world to study how children come to understand peace, conflict, and war. Set in various countries, their review of studies, as well as more recent examinations reveal trends in how children view these phenomena, often differing by gender, age, and extent to which they were exposed to highly dangerous and traumatizing situations, like being forced to be child soldiers or sex slaves. No such research has been published in the contemporary post-war Uganda context. Using focus group methodology, we asked: How might Ugandan primary school children’s stories about peace (traditional and otherwise) help them navigate conflict? What sorts of conflicts do these children observe in their home, school, and community, and how do they describe peace as being resolved by themselves or others? The purpose of our study was to contribute to the knowledge base on peace education in Uganda and to ultimately develop written materials that students can use as part of their learning in their respective schools. Local studies like this one are relevant to the global situation because racial and economic conditions are global phenomena. The local manifestations can speak to those racial and economic conditions as perspectives not often used to put the global situation in relief. This paper explores the findings related to the children’s overarching conceptions of peace and their ideas of peacebuilding, including activities that both hinder and encourage peace. The voices of the children speak strongly of the connection between peace and access to basic necessities in the community

The relationship between emotional intelligence, anxiety, and performance in physical education and sport students

    Get PDF
Emotional intelligence (EI) has been recently the main target in research on sports psychology. The objectives of this study were to investigate the relation between self-report measures of emotional intelligence, pre-competitive anxiety, and performance among students during the physical education exam of the high school final year. This cross-sectional study was conducted on a sample of 350 students attending the physical education exam in the year 2021–2022. Analysis of the correlations between the scores of Emotional intelligence and anxiety showed that self-confidence was positively correlated with all dimensions of Emotional intelligence (Beta = 0.524; p = 0.000). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that the most related items to performance were self-confidence in a positive direction (r = 0.56; p = 0.000) and negatively with somatic anxiety (r = −0, 39; p = 0.000). Considering the Emotional intelligence subscales, hetero-emotional management was significantly positively associated with performance (p = 0.000) however emotional perception was negatively correlated with performance (p = 0.003). These results demonstrate the importance of social and emotional learning programs for improving self-confidence and better management of emotions during physical education and sports

Gut-derived short-chain fatty acids modulate skin barrier integrity by promoting keratinocyte metabolism and differentiation

    Get PDF
Barrier integrity is central to the maintenance of healthy immunological homeostasis. Impaired skin barrier function is linked with enhanced allergen sensitization and the development of diseases such as atopic dermatitis (AD), which can precede the development of other allergic disorders, for example, food allergies and asthma. Epidemiological evidence indicates that children suffering from allergies have lower levels of dietary fibre-derived short-chain fatty acids (SCFA). Using an experimental model of AD-like skin inflammation, we report that a fermentable fibre-rich diet alleviates systemic allergen sensitization and disease severity. The gut-skin axis underpins this phenomenon through SCFA production, particularly butyrate, which strengthens skin barrier function by altering mitochondrial metabolism of epidermal keratinocytes and the production of key structural components. Our results demonstrate that dietary fibre and SCFA improve epidermal barrier integrity, ultimately limiting early allergen sensitization and disease development.
