The documentation of the solution, corresponding to the registration of the configuration of each of the devices, the detailed description of the step-by-step of each of the stages carried out during the development, the registration of the connectivity verification processes through the use of ping, traceroute, show ip route commands, among others
Influence of recycled aggregate quality from precast rejection on mechanical properties of self-compacting concrete
The use of coarse aggregates from crushing pre-existing concrete in the manufacturing of new concrete needs experimental results to validate its influence in the properties of the new concrete elements.
In the present study we assessed the impact of using different proportions of replacement up to 100% of natural aggregates with recycled aggregates in the concrete properties; moreover, the effect of pre-treatments of pre-saturation, washing and the aggregates’ source (from precast concrete rejected pieces and construction and demolition waste) was analysed. The best results were obtained with dry and washed recycled aggregates, the compressive strength increment was between the 8 and 17% compared to conventional concrete. Results also pointed out that recycled aggregate that exclusively comes from precast concrete pieces lead to a better concrete mechanical characteristic than the aggregates which origin is construction and demolition waste. In addition, a clear relationship between the percentage of recycled aggregate substitution and the workability and mechanical performance of self-compacting concrete is observed. The results presented in this paper allow to state that precast concrete factories can recycle their rejected elements into recycled coarse aggregates for manufacturing new products, this will allow to protect the environment by reducing the need of raw material consumption and the C&DW landfill
There is great concern among customers when equipment is damaged due to mishandling or when there are no results in predictive maintenance due to incorrect use of the equipment. Given this, MAHE proposed the design and implementation of a module for the study of vibrational analysis, laser alignment and dynamic balancing aimed at improving the training service regarding the operation of predictive maintenance equipment in a short time and at a low cost compared to conventional imported equipment.
The modules of similar purposes existing in the national market, all of foreign manufacture, were studied, determining the key points and characteristics that justified their high price. Changes in the material and in the design of the structure were then proposed without losing functionality, the drawings were prepared in SolidsWork; the developed module was tested and obtained the same performance as the imported equipment.
The project was developed and implemented in 10 days and the cost was so low that it is currently the lowest priced module in the local market, for which MAHE has already distributed three units among its clients, increasing the monthly billing, after the module was made.
The module not only facilitated training in laser alignment and dynamic balancing equipment within companies, but also facilitated training in the correct use of this equipment and provided a safe environment for the study of vibrational analysis
Polyphenols in the Waste Water Produced during the Hydrodistillation of ‘Narcea Roses’ Cultivated in the Cibea River Valley (Northern Spain)
The ‘Narcea rose’ is a recently described yet ancient rose cultivar of interest to the perfume industry. Given its excellent adaptation to the conditions of the place where it was rediscovered, the possibilities of its horticultural/industrial production have been under examination for some time. The hydrodistillation process produces a red-to-brownish mixture of water and rose petals that could contain compounds that could be used in other industrial procedures. Their recovery and further utilization would reduce disposal costs and improve the sustainability of relevant industries. This work reports the quantification, by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC–MS) and quadrupole time of flight Q-TOF analyses, of the polyphenol content in the waste water. This waste was found to contain high concentrations of quercetin, gallic acid and ellagic acid, as well as smaller concentrations of kaempferol and its derivatives, all of which can influence plant, human and animal health. This research received no external funding
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF HEAVY-METAL DISPERSION IN THE HUERVA RIVER (IBERIAN RANGE, NE SPAIN)
In this study, the methodology of geochemical prospecting has been applied to the study of cadmium, lead, copper and zinc dispersion in the fine sediments of the upper course of the Huerva River (Iberian Range, NE Spain). The survey was organised in two stages: (1) general sampling along the river and its tributary channels, aimed at selecting the sections with the highest contents of the target elements, and (2) detailed study of those sections, aimed at an interpretation of possible positive geochemical anomalies and identification of their sources. The results of this study prove the existence of multiple and complex sources, with a significant influence of sources related to anthropogenic activity. However, the system shows a good ability to depurate itself under current conditions.Acero, P.; Mandado Collado, JMA.; Gómez, JB.; Gimeno, MJ.; Auqué, LF.; Torrijo, F. (2003). Annex to Deliverable Technical Report D1.2.2: FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions of WRF
This Annex report documents the first workshop series on the Weather Research Forecasting model (WRF) held by experts of the Cooling Singapore 1.5 project. The objective of the workshop series was to address technical questions for the next thematic areas:
1. General aspects of WRF,
2. Approach to Anthropogenic Heat modelling in WRF, and
3. Approach to Local Climate Zones modelling in WRF.
The Workshop consisted of rounds of Q&A made by each expert. The answer to each question was discussed for 5 – 15 mins and the conclusions were documented. The expected outcome of the workshop is one technical report summarizing the Q&A in a format similar to that of ‘Frequently Asked Questions’. We expect this material to facilitate a common understanding about the integration of WRF in the Cooling Singapore Project
