    A performance study of routing protocols for mobile grid environment

    Integration of mobile wireless consumer devices into the Grid initially seems unlikely due to limitation such as CPU performance,small secondary storage, heightened battery consumption sensitivity and unreliable low-bandwidth communication. The current grid architecture and algorithm also do not take into account the mobile computing environment since mobile devices have not been seriously considered as valid computing resources or interfaces in grid communities. This paper presents the results of simulation done in identifying a suitable ad hoc routing protocol that can be used for the target grid application in mobile environment.     Unsupervised Anomaly Detection with Unlabeled Data Using Clustering

    Intrusions pose a serious security risk in a network environment. New intrusion types, of which detection systems are unaware, are the most difficult to detect. The amount of available network audit data instances is usually large; human labeling is tedious, time-consuming, and expensive. Traditional anomaly detection algorithms require a set of purely normal data from which they train their model. We present a clustering-based intrusion detection algorithm, unsupervised anomaly detection, which trains on unlabeled data in order to detect new intrusions. Our method is able to detect many different types of intrusions, while maintaining a low false positive rate as verified over the Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining - KDD CUP 1999 dataset

    Fuzzy C-Mean And Genetic Algorithms Based Scheduling For Independent Jobs In Computational Grid

    The concept of Grid computing is becoming the most important research area in the high performance computing. Under this concept, the jobs scheduling in Grid computing has more complicated problems to discover a diversity of available resources, select the appropriate applications and map to suitable resources. However, the major problem is the optimal job scheduling, which Grid nodes need to allocate the appropriate resources for each job. In this paper, we combine Fuzzy C-Mean and Genetic Algorithms which are popular algorithms, the Grid can be used for scheduling. Our model presents the method of the jobs classifications based mainly on Fuzzy C-Mean algorithm and mapping the jobs to the appropriate resources based mainly on Genetic algorithm. In the experiments, we used the workload historical information and put it into our simulator. We get the better result when compared to the traditional algorithms for scheduling policies. Finally, the paper also discusses approach of the jobs classifications and the optimization engine in Grid scheduling

    Hubungan etnik di Malaysia adalah dinamik sifatnya. Semenjak mencapai kemerdekaan 58 tahun dahulu, hubungan etnik secara umumnya adalah baik. Namun begitu, ada juga berlaku beberapa ketegangan sosial di antara etnik yang berakhir dengan konflik. Ketegangan dan konflik ini lebih diperhatikan berlaku di kawasan bandar berbanding dengan kawasan luar bandar dan di kawasan golongan berpendapatan rendah jika dibandingkan dengan kawasan bandar dalam kalangan orang berada. Justeru itu, mengukur persepsi hubungan etnik adalah penting bagi menjamin kestabilan dan pembangunan negara ini. Hakikatnya hubungan etnik terserlah di kawasan kediaman, dalam ruang awam, media dan juga tempat kerja. Melalui hubungan bersemuka terbina pola hubungan sosial yang berulang sifatnya. Kekerapan pergaulan akhirnya membina satu kesepaduan dalam masyarakat sebagai satu unit sosial. Dari itu pengurusan kepelbagaian budaya, mengiktiraf dan menghormati kehadiran pelbagai kumpulan dalam organisasi atau masyarakat, mengakui dan menghargai perbezaan norma sosial antara mereka serta menggalakkan dan membenarkan sumbangan berterusan setiap anggota secara inklusif merupakan acuan penting dalam membina hubungan etnik yang baik. Dalam organisasi, pengurusan kepelbagaian muncul apabila berlakunya suatu proses berterusan dengan pelbagai bakat dan keupayaan yang wujud dalam masyarakat yang pelb agai itu diiktiraf dan dibawa masuk menjadi budaya organisasi.     Comparative analysis of text classification algorithms for automated labelling of quranic verses

    The ultimate goal of labelling a Quranic verse is to determine its corresponding theme. However, the existing Quranic verse labelling approach is primarily depending on the availability of Quranic scholars who have expertise in Arabic language and Tafseer. In this paper, we propose to automate the labelling task of the Quranic verse using text classification algorithms. We applied three text classification algorithms namely, k-Nearest Neighbour, Support Vector Machine, and Naïve Bayes in automating the labelling procedure. In our experiment with the classification algorithms English translation of the verses are presented as features. The English translation of the verses are then classified as “Shahadah” (the first pillar of Islam) or “Pray” (the second pillar of Islam). It is found that all of the text classification algorithms are capable to achieve more than 70% accuracy in labelling the Quranic verses

    Intelligent lighting control system for energy savings in office building

    Lighting system is a crucial sub-system and consumes substantial electricity energy in the buildings. This paper proposes an intelligent lighting control system using artificial neural network (ANN). The minimization of dimming levels of luminaires has been considered as an objective function of the controller. Moreover, the light sensor field of view is also taken into consideration in objective function formulation. The proposed ANN controller has been tested on an actual office room of the Department of Mechanical Technology, Institute of Industrial Training, Selandar, Melaka, Malaysia. The simulation has been carried out using DIALux simulation lighting software. Based on the results, the proposed controller showed great performance in terms of adaptive less light sensor data and achieving dimming levels target that complies the European Standard EN12464-1. Furthermore, it can save energy up to 34%

    Measuring the service quality of airline services in Malaysia

    The perception of Malaysian consumers of the quality of airline services was examined in this study using the SERVQUAL measurement. The results of the study indicate that the most significant factors in Malaysian customers’ perception of service quality are Empathy, Tangibles and Assurance. In addition, the respondents indicated that the airlines surveyed performed better than expected on the Responsiveness dimension of service quality. There is also a strong indication that satisfaction with service quality results in future use and the likelihood of recommending the airline to others
