Examining the role of trust in shaping customer satisfaction of mobile banking

    Get PDF
Mobile banking is the latest technology offered by service providers that allows customers to conduct banking transactions via mobile terminals. Mobile banking like other online transactions involve great uncertainty and risk, thus, customers need to build trust to alleviate perceived risk and facilitate their transactions. Owing to its significant role, trust has received considerable attention in information systems (IS) research, especially in the e-commerce context. However, little research has been done on the success of this technology, especially when investigating customer satisfaction. In this study, some modifications to the DeLone and McLean Model (2003) of IS Success are proposed whereby the model may be applicable to post adoption customer satisfaction. The target population is the users of mobile banking in Somaliland where mobile banking is at peak prevalence. Quantitative research method is deemed to be the suitable way of study. Partial Least Square (PLS) is the research instrument used to examine the role of trust in mediating the effects of independent variables on customer satisfaction. The findings suggest that quality factors and structural assurance have significant direct effect on both trust and customer satisfaction. Meanwhile, company reputation positively affects trust but not customer satisfaction. Trust is also shown to fully mediate the interrelationships of information quality, system quality and company reputation on customer satisfaction. Theoretical contributions of the findings are discussed and suggestions for future research are presented

The social mobility challenges faced by young muslims

Young Muslims face the 'broken promise of social mobility': compared to other groups, their improved success in education at all levels does not translate into good labour market outcomes. Despite their educational gains, Muslims experience the greatest economic disadvantages of any group in UK society. They are more likely than non-Muslims to experience neighbourhood deprivation, housing, educational and health disadvantage, and unemployment. This qualitative report explores the attitudes and reasons behind this situation. It offers an account of young Muslims’ perceptions of growing up and seeking work in the UK. The report is designed to contribute to a better understanding of the causes of low social mobility for young Muslims. Drawing on the perceptions of young Muslims (through focus groups and interviews) and of key stakeholders (through a three-stage Delphi survey) the research sought evidence on: ‱ The barriers young Muslims see to social mobility in the UK – in particular, why educational gains are not translating into employment gains for young Muslims. ‱ How these perceptions differ depending on gender, ethnicity, socio-economic background and different forms of educational participation

Independent on where in the world one is, patient safety is regarded as one of the most important aspects in the healthcare industry. On the contrary, depending on where you are, the patient safety will differ and is therefore location dependent. The patient safety in a developing country will therefore be evaluated in a different way compared to a developed country. This study, therefore aimed to identify the patient safety in Puntland, Somalia and with it, its healthcare environment in the hospitals. The goal was to identify the main factors that affected the patient safety. To investigate this, a field study to the region of interest was made and subsequently interviews with staff at the site were conducted as well as observations in the concerned hospitals. The obtained results were analysed using the method of Qualitative Content Analysis. At a later stage, the results could be thematized into four categories; “Need”, “Device”, “Training” and “Knowledge”, which pinpointed the main issues. The study show that there was a common transversal issue of a inherent lack of devices, training and knowledge which in turn could severely affect the patients and their safety in ways such as misdiagnosis, delayed treatment and in worst cases death. Furthermore, it was evident that rather than the lack of actual devices, the absence of knowledge was more prevalent.

    No full text
The effect of income inequality has been controversial issue for decades, which researchers have concluded conflicting results. Many researchers have found that income inequality is conducive on economic growth, while others found harmful effect. Hence, this paper investigates the impact of income inequality on economic growth by using the cross sectional analysis. The averaged data from periods of 2002-2006 were used and observations from 90 developed and developing countries were also used. We find that income inequality is negatively associated in economic growth
