    Pihkva oblasti talupoegade kivihooned / The Stone Buildings of Pskov County Peasants

    The aim of the article is to give an overview of the characteristics of graniteboulder and lime-slate buildings in Pskov county in the north-western part of the Russian Federation. When studying the assembled fieldwork information, the author focuses on the different wall patterns connected to the methods used to split the stones and on the technologies used to build the stone walls. Both the master’s and the buyer's aesthetic preferences influence the final outcome. Similar to the rest of this region, the most active period of using local unprocessed stones in buildings was between the 1850s and 1930s. In this article, the decorative details of the buildings' walls, the most obvious qualities of the wall patterns, the types of joints and window frames, and dates on the building the chief objects of the author's attention. Based on the analysis of the collected information and on the study of written sources, he has been able to suggest when the use of boulders in construction increased, and also how the walls and joints might be classified

    Thermal protection implementation of the contact overheadline based on bay controllers of electric transport traction substations in the mining industry

    The article presents the principle of thermal protection of the contact overheadlineand substantiates the possibility of practical implementation of this principle for rail electric transport in the mining industry. The algorithm for the implementation of modern digital protection of the contact overhead line as one of the functions of the controller is described. A mathematical model of thermal protection is proposed, which follows from the solution of the heat balance equation. The model takes into account the coefficient of the electrical networktopology, as well as the coefficient of consumption of the current-carrying core of the cable, which determines the reduction in the conducting section from contact erosion and the growth of oxide films. Corrections for air flows are introduced when receiving data from an external anemometer, via telemechanics protocol. The mathematical model was tested by writing a real thermal protection program in the C programming language for the bay controller, based on the circuitry of which is the STM32F407IGT6 microcontroller for the microcontroller unit. Verification tests were carried out on a serial bay controller in 2020. The graphs for comparing the calculated and actual values of temperatures, with different flow rates of the current-carrying conductor of the DC cable, are given. To obtain data, telemechanics protocols IEC 60870-104 and Modbus TCP, PLC Segnetics SMH4 were used

    Analysis of User Activity in Wireless Local Area Network of Petrozavodsk State University

    Wireless networks are widely used for Internet access in public places, trading centers and educational institutions. The study of users' activity in these places can help solve problems of marketing, security, location, and monitoring of public transport. The article describes an experiment to measure the activity of users in wireless networks of Petrozavodsk State University because some educational and administrative processes are slowed because of a strict speed limit for all users. The authors developed a method to determine users' activity without the access to the service equipment and personal data, as well as a software complex to implement this method. Then they collected and analyzed data on the hours of the highest and lowliest activity, class schedule effect, and the dynamics of users' returns to the network. The information obtained was used to determine the allowed constraints of the Internet access speed for network users. A number of equations take into account the typical behavior of wireless network users, their activity and the capacity of external network channels. Computed rates for speed limits significantly exceed the established indicators in the network of Petrozavodsk University during hours of average and minimum network load. The results obtained can be used in corporate networks to dynamically calculate the permissible speed limit and to improve the quality of user service

    Tungstate Based Ceramics Obtained By Spark Plasma Sintering Method – Possible Material for Consolidation of Radioactive Wastes’ Components

    The Spark Plasma Sintering method was used to produce high-density ceramics from tungstates SrWO4 and NaNd(WO4)2 with scheelite structure. These compounds are proposed as possible matrices for the consolidation of radwaste components. Powder samples were obtained by coprecipitation method and studied by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). After sintering, the samples retained their phase identity (scheelite structure). The total duration of sintering was ∼ 13-15 min, the relative density was reached ∼ 92, 99%.
