The effects of resistance training on females’ self-perception. Introduction: It is generally accepted that exercise enhances physical self-perceptions, but the impact of resistance training programs on females’ self-perceptions is unclear. Because exercise is an important public health behavior, and because physical self-perceptions have motivational implications, this study has potential to add knowledge that is relevant to exercise promotion. Purpose: The primary aim of the study was to explore the effect of two different types of resistance training programs on physical self-perceptions of college age females. Methods: Participants (n=30) were randomized to muscular strength, muscular endurance resistance training groups or a comparison group. Experimental resistance training groups followed a progressive resistance training program which consisted of three, one hour sessions per week for nine weeks. Participants completed the Physical Self-Perception Profile (PSPP) pre and post study to investigate the effects of physical self-perceptions after resistance training. Height, weight, skin folds and circumference measurements were taken pre- and post-test. Results: Results showed a significant difference between groups on sum of skinfolds (p =0.013). The pairwise comparison indicates that strength was different from endurance (p =0.013). PSPP differences were only indicated for the physical condition subscale (p =0.004). Strength competence subscale (p = 0.015) and the attractive body adequacy subscale (p = 0.018) were trending and may be practically significant. Discussion: Resistance training improved females’ physical self-perception. The post hoc comparisons indicate that only the strength group was different from the comparison and no differences existed between endurance and either group

Una experiencia de capacitación en etnomatemática

    Get PDF

Universities need to transfer the results of their research to be applied to the production by translating them into business value. This gives o to the creation of University Spin -Off, converted in recent years into one reference in transfer technology mechanisms. The Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) provides a framework of business to design, develop, integrate and consolidate legacy and distributed systems. The Business Process Management (BPM) includes concepts, methods, techniques and software tools that allow the analysis and detection of problems and opportunities that, electronically designed, can be implemented and continuously improved .This article approach the creation of spin off at the National University of Austral Chaco under the paradigm of SOA with the BPM intervention strategies to establish guidelines which integrate the technology and business concepts in an business architecture with the goal of innovative customers services and adapt agilely to changes, including the early reaction competitiveness

Efficient Removal of Magnetic Contamination from Drilling Fluids – The Effect on Directional Drilling

    Get PDF
Magnetic debris in a drilling fluid have a significant influence on the ability of the drilling fluid to maintain its function. Down hole logging can suffer from poor signal to noise ratios. Directional drilling in areas close to the magnetic North Pole, such as in the Barents Sea, Northern Canada, or Russia, can suffer because of magnetic contamination in the drilling fluid. Magnetic particles in the drilling fluid introduce additional errors to the magnetic surveying compared to those normally included in the ellipsoid of uncertainty calculation. On many offshore drilling rigs, there are mounted ditch magnets to remove metallic swarf from the drilling fluid. These magnets normally only remove the coarser swarf. In this project, we use a combination of strong magnets and flow directors to significantly improve the performance of the ditch magnets. This combination, together with proper routines for cleaning the ditch magnets, significantly helps to clean the drilling fluid. Through the combined use of flow directors and ditch magnets, it was possible to extract more than five times as much magnetic contamination from the drilling fluid as normal compared with other proper ditch magnet systems. This is verified by comparing the ditch magnet efficiencies from two drilling rigs drilling extended reach drilling (ERD) wells in the North Sea area. In this paper, it is discussed how the accuracy of directional drilling and well position effected by various interferences can be improved by the use of a drilling fluid with minimal effect to the measurement while drilling (MWD) measurement.publishedVersio
