    Jesus, the Prophet, the Messiah, and the Host: an Interpretation of Luke 24:13-35

    The story of Jesus' encounter with two disciples on the journey to Emmaus is a unique story, among which is the story contains the question: what really made two disciples not recognize Jesus?, and why after inviting Jesus to their home, the identity of Jesus was recognized. Many solutions have been offered to answer these complicated problems, but it seems that the answers proffered are less than convincing. According to the author, the Emmaus story must be seen from the entire book of Luke and Acts because in this episode there are important themes scattered throughout Luke's two writings. The two disciples are representatives of Jews who cannot understand that the Messiah must suffer, be crucified, and be resurrected. What made them recognize Jesus again was when Jesus entertained them to eat? It was because it reminded them of a similar event before Jesus' death and at the same time referred to the role of Yahweh as the host of His OT people and the hope of an eschatological meal. In the end, the theme of this dining table fellowship became important in the Acts of the Apostles in relation to Jewish and Gentile relations within the early church. Yang membuat mereka mengenal kembali Yesus adalah ketika Yesus menjamu mereka makan, karena itu mengingatkan peristiwa yang serupa sebelum kematian Yesus sekaligus merujuk pada peran Yahweh sebagai penjamu umat-Nya dalam PL dan harapan akan jamuan eskatologis. Pada akhirnya, tema persekutuan meja makan ini menjadi penting dalam Kisah Para Rasul dalam kaitan dengan relasi Yahudi dan non Yahudi dalam gereja mula-mula.     Study of the Temperature Behavior in the Flow of Combustion Gases of a Gasoline Engine in its Exhaust System Using the PTEC-593 Driving Cycle

    This study aims to analyze the temperature behavior along the exhaust system based on the PTEC-593 conduction cycle using thermocouples. A bibliographic review has been carried out to understand the temperature distribution throughout the system; therefore, four points were chosen for the study the exhaust manifold, before the catalyst, then the catalyst, and the end of the exhaust pipe. Thus, the vehicle exhaust system is coupled with type K thermocouples and modified to include a three-way catalyst and a new system with SAE J403 1008 steel pipe of 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The tests during the driving cycle were carried out in the city of Latacunga at an altitude of 2800 meters and an average temperature of 12∘C. Other tests involved idling at different times of the day, and the last one was on the route of ”the chasqui,” so the vehicle is in several possible scenarios. As a result, the exhaust manifold temperature was higher than 417∘C, the initial system temperature after the catalyst was 310∘C, the exhaust pipe end temperature was lower than 160∘C, and the idling temperature did not exceed 230∘C. It was concluded that the best place to place a TEG is after the catalyst because at this time we do not affect the wrong readings of the lambda probe, which would lead to fuel consumption and high emissions of polluting gases. Resumen El propósito de este estudio es analizar el comportamiento de la temperatura a lo largo del sistema de escape basado en el ciclo de conducción PTEC-593 utilizando termocuplas. Para ello se ha realizado una revisión bibliografíca donde se puede entender la distribución de temperatura a lo largo del sistema, por tanto se escogieron 4 puntos para el estudio: el colector de escape, antes del catalizador, después el catalizador y el final del tubo de escape. Así, al sistema de escape del vehículo se acoplo termocuplas tipo K, y se modificado para incluir un catalizador de tres vías y un nuevo sistema con tubería de acero SAE J403 1008 de 2 1/2 pulgadas de diámetro. Las pruebas durante el ciclo de conducción se realizaron en la ciudad de Latacunga a una altura de 2800 msnm y un clima promedio de 12∘C, otras pruebas en ralentí a diferentes horas del día y en la última fue en la ruta de “el chasqui”, por lo que el vehículo se encuentra en varios escenarios posibles. Como resultado, la temperatura del colector de escape fue superior a 417 ∘C, la temperatura inicial del sistema después del catalizador fue de 310 ∘C, la temperatura al final del tubo de escape fue inferior a 160 ∘C y la temperatura de ralentí no superó los 230 ∘C. Se concluyó que el mejor lugar para colocar un TEG es después del catalizador, debido a que en este momento no afectamos las lecturas erróneas de la sonda lambda, que conllevaría a un consumo de combustible y alta emisión de gases contaminantes.     Implementation of an Electric Motor for Light River Transportation Units

    The fluvial transport is the way that allows the development of the communities in post of improve the communication, but its use with combustion engines causes an environmental impact and damage to the ecosystem by emitions, noise pollution or oil spill. In fact, to finding other alternatives to improve operating conditions and reduce environmental impact, the application of electric motors being a new alternative for river transport. In this design, two direct current motors will applied, such as the propulsion of an environmentally friendly light boat coupled with a set of energy accumulators that supply the propulsion system. The applied motors and the type of battery used indicate in the design characteristics. This analysis shows the results obtained in the simulations and designs of the boat in relation to the resistance generated by the displacement in the water and the aerodynamic flow conditions. Resumen El transporte en lugares fluviales es un medio importante que permite el desarrollo de las poblaciones impulsando la comunicación entre comunidades, pero su uso con motores de combustión interna provoca un impacto ambiental y daños al ecosistema por emisiones, contaminación acústica o derrame de derivados del petróleo. Esto conlleva a encontrar otras alternativas para mejorar las condiciones de operación y reducir el impacto ambiental siendo la aplicación de motores eléctricos una nueva alternativa para el transporte fluvial. En este diseño aplica dos motores de corriente continua como propulsión de una embarcación ligera amigable con el medio ambiente acoplado con un conjunto de acumuladores de energía que abastecen al sistema de propulsión. Se indica además en las características de diseño los motores aplicados y del tipo de batería usada. En este análisis se muestran los resultados obtenidos en las simulaciones y diseños de la embarcación en relación a la resistencia generada por el desplazamiento en el agua y además las condiciones del flujo aerodinámico.     Thesis (M.Com.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2004.The promotion of Small, Medium and Micro enterprises (SMMEs) has been identified as key strategy of government for employment creation and income generation. For some time now small business owners had to fend for themselves. Small business was neglected and was in the main ignored by government. Since the 1994 democratic process the challenge for the new order has been to create an enabling environment for the small business sector of the economy. The historical neglect and the consequent policy vacuum has had to be re assessed. To this end the 1995 White Paper on a National Strategy for the development and Promotion of Small Business in South Africa was the first major effort by government to design a policy framework targeting the small business sector. The promulgation of the Small Business Act in 1996 and the establishment of the Ntsika Enterprise Promotion agency under the aegis of the Department of Trade and Industry has attempted to provide direction and facilitate the provision of Non Financial support to the Small Business Sector. Various incentive schemes have been developed and put into operation together with a range of tax incentives to help promote Small Business. Eight years have passed since the promulgation of the Small Business Act and the perception that finance for SMMEs has been the greatest stumbling block to development. However the failure of the vast numbers of micro lending agencies have revealed that low levels of entrepreneurship has led to their demise.     Análisis de la eficiencia de un disco de freno convencional ventilado con respecto a un disco hiperventilado mediante mecanizado

    The objective of this study is to redesign a ventilated brake disc as a hyperventilated disc to compare the differences in temperature and brake distances; for this purpose, a monitoring system was installed in the vehicle which consisted of the implementation of two temperature sensors located near each disk and a data acquisition card. With the implementation of hyperventilated discs, the temperature generated by the braking friction could be reduced. The temperature values that occur between the discs when braking was monitored. To obtain the temperature values of the brake discs, road tests were conducted with different types of discs: ventilated discs on the two front wheels, hyperventilated discs on the two front wheels and mixed discs. In the mixed discs there is a ventilated disc on the right front wheel and a hyperventilated disc on the left front wheel. By displaying time data of the brake discs, it was possible to conclude that hyperventilated discs have better heat dissipation, since they have better ventilation. From all the results obtained on the route tests, it was possible to visualize the temperature behavior in the discs at the moment of braking and it was evidenced that hyperventilated discs tend to heat up less than normal discs, thus leading to a decrease in time and stopping distance.El objetivo de este estudio tiene como finalidad rediseñar un disco de freno ventilado a un disco hiperventilado para comparar las diferencias de temperatura y distancias de frenado, para ello se instaló un sistema de monitoreo en el vehículo, que consistió en la implementación de dos sensores de temperatura ubicados cerca de cada disco y una tarjeta de adquisición de datos. Con la implementación de los discos hiperventilados se pudo disminuir la temperatura generada por la fricción del frenado. Se realizó el monitoreo de valores de temperaturas que se producen entre los discos al momento de frenar. Para obtener los valores de temperaturas de los discos de frenos, se realizaron pruebas de ruta con diferentes tipos de discos: discos ventilados en las dos ruedas frontales, discos hiperventilados en las dos ruedas frontales y discos mixtos. En los discos mixtos van un disco ventilado en rueda delantera derecha y uno hiperventilado en rueda delantera izquierda. Mediante visualización de datos en tiempo en los discos de freno se pudo concluir que los hiperventilados poseen una mejor disipación de calor ya que presentan una mejor ventilación. A partir de todos los resultados de las pruebas de rutas obtenidas, se pudo visualizar el comportamiento de temperatura en los discos al momento de frenar y se evidenció que los discos hiperventilados tienden a calentarse menos que los normales, llevando con esto a disminuir el tiempo y distancia de frenado

    Design and Implementation of the Electric Propulsion Train of a Prototype for the Eco Shell Marathon Competition

    The main objective of this thesis project focused on designing and implementing an electric propulsion train for a vehicle prototype and subsequently achieving an adequate driving technique, where man and machine come together to achieve an efficient participation in the Eco Shell Marathon competition. In this context, the methodology sought to identify needs such as: equipment and driving strategies. Therefore, for the equipment selection, the technique of the ordinal method corrected of weighted criteria was applied, resulting in: a Brushed Speed WPHMOTO 48v 1000w motor with a score of percent; A TDPRO YK31C Accelerator Driver with a 40 percent priority, and Turnigy Graphene Panther Batteries (6000mAh, 6S 75C Lipo with XT90) with a 44 percent priority, from three possible options for each of them. After the equipment implementation, experimental trials of four types of practices were carried out. In the analysis of the results when contrasting the first two practices carried out on the sloping track zero degrees, it is revealed that in Test 01 the vehicle travels 35.056 km per kW.h, while in Test 02 the distance is 37.466 km per each kW.h. In the case of Test 03 and 04 performed on the track with an inclination of two degrees, the coefficients of the relationship between distance traveled and energy consumed are: 34.29 km/kWh and 42.219 km/kW.h respectively. Therefore, the relationship between the distance traveled and energy consumed present favorable data when applying the driving strategy based on giving impulses through the accelerator as the speed of the two types of tracks decreases. Resumen En este presente proyecto de tesis el objetivo principal se fundamentó en diseñar e implementar un tren de propulsión eléctrico para un prototipo de vehículo y posteriormente conseguir una técnica adecuada de conducción, donde hombre y maquina se junten para lograr una participación eficiente en la competencia Eco Shell Marathon. Bajo este contexto la metodología se regio al reconocimiento de necesidades como: equipos y estrategias de conducción. Por tanto, para la selección de equipos se aplicó la técnica de método ordinal corregido de criterios ponderados, dando como resultados: un motor Brushed Speed WPHMOTO 48v 1000w, con una puntuación de treinta y seis por ciento; Un Driver Acelerador TDPRO YK31C, con una prioridad de cuarenta por ciento y Baterías Turnigy Graphene Panther (6000mAh, 6S 75C Lipo con XT90), con una prioridad de cuarenta y cuatro por ciento, de tres posibles opciones para cada uno de ellos. Posterior a la implementación de equipos, se procede a las practicas experimentales de cuatro tipos de ensayos. En cuyo análisis de resultados al contrastar los dos primeros ensayos realizados sobre la pista inclinada cero grados, revela que el Ensayo 01 el vehículo recorre 35,056 km por cada kW.h, mientras que en el Ensayo 02 el recorrido es de 37,466 km por cada kW.h. Para el caso del Ensayo 03 y 04, realizados sobre la pista con una inclinación de dos grados, los coeficientes de la relación entre distancia recorrida y energía consumida son: 34,279 km/kW.h y 42,219 km/kW.h respectivamente. En tal virtud la relación distancia recorrida y energía consumida presenta datos favorables al aplicar la estrategia de conducción basada en dar impulsos mediante el acelerador al disminuir la velocidad en los dos tipos de pistas.     Prática de ensino supervisionada em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico

    O presente relatório foi realizado no âmbito da Unidade Curricular de Prática de Ensino Supervisionada, integrada no curso de Mestrado em Educação pré-escolar e Ensino do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico desenvolvida e pretende traduzir a experiência formativa de aprendizagem profissional, que realizamos ao longo de dois semestres, em dois ciclo de educação e ensino diferentes. No âmbito da Educação pré-escolar foi desenvolvida num jardim de infância integrado em meio rural e no 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, numa sala integrada num centro escolar do meio urbano. No que respeita à Educação pré-escolar o grupo, com o qual se desenvolveu a ação educativa era constituído por dezoito crianças com idades compreendidas entre os quatro e os seis anos. Relativamente ao 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, tratava-se de uma turma composta por vinte e um alunos com idades compreendidas entre os seis e os sete anos. O relatório encontra-se estruturado em vários pontos: a contextualização das instituições onde foram desenvolvidos os estágios, bem como a caracterização dos grupos de crianças. Apresentam-se, posteriormente as experiências de aprendizagem que, de alguma forma mostram as opções educativas que assumimos em ambos os contextos. Nas atividades propostas procuramos ter em consideração uma abordagem integradora das diferentes áreas disciplinares, valorizadoras das mútiplas linguagem da criança e favorecedora de uma visão holística da educação. As experiências de aprendizagem que descrevemos neste relatório, bem como as decorreram ao longo do estágio, procuraram dar voz às crianças incentivando-as a ter um papel ativo no decorrer das mesmas. Os registos fotográficos e as falas das crianças que apresentamos ajudaram a documentar o processo vivenciado, constituindo-se como fontes importantes na compreensão da ação desenvolvida. Este tipo de registos, pensamos que são importantes para valorizar as ideias, interesses e necessidades das crianças. This report was carried out under the Curricular Unit of Supervised Teaching Practice, integrated into the Master course in Pre-school and teaching 1º Cycle of Basic Education and intended to describe the formative experience of professional learning, we conducted over two semesters, two-cycle education and tuition. Under the Pre-school was developed in a kindergarten in rural and integrated on the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, a room built in the school center in a rural area. Regarding Pre-school group, with which it has developed educational activities the group was represented by children aged between four and six years. Regarding the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, it was a class represented by of twenty-one students aged between six and seven years. The report is structured in several points: the contextualization of the institutions which were developed stages as well, the characterization of groups of children. Describes themselves later learning experiences that somehow show educational choices we made in both contexts. In the proposed activities seek to take into account an integrated approach of different disciplines, fully enhance the child's language and multiple hard supportive of a holistic education. Learning experiences that we describe in this report, as well the elapsed along the stage, sought to give voice to the children encouraging them to take an active role in the course of the same. The photographic records and the children testimonies we present helped to document the process experienced, becoming as important sources in understanding the action developed.     A Large Area Fiber Optic Gyroscope on multiplexed fiber network

    We describe a fiber optical gyroscope based on the Sagnac effect realized on a multiplexed telecom fiber network. Our loop encloses an area of 20 km2 and coexists with Internet data traffic. This Sagnac interferometer achieves a sensitivity of about (10-8 rad/s)/sqrt(Hz), thus approaching ring laser gyroscopes without using narrow linewidth laser nor sophisticated optics. The proposed gyroscope is sensitive enough for seismic applications, opening new possibilities for this kind of optical fiber sensors
