Integration of autonomous sources of information is one of the most important problems in implementation of the global information systems. This paper considers multidatabase systems as one of the typical architectures of global information services and addresses a problem of storing and processing inconsistent information in such systems. A new data model proposed in the paper separates sure from inconsistent information and introduces a system of elementary operations on the containers with sure and inconsistent information. Entwicklung eines instationären Prognosewerkzeuges zur Berechnung der Klimawandelbedingten Veränderungen der Grundwasserneubildung

Im Forschungs- und Netzwerkprojekt dynaklim untersucht die Emschergenossenschaft u. a. die wasserwirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen von klimabedingten Veränderungen des Grundwasserhaushalts in den urbanen Siedlungsgebieten. Dazu sollen mit Hilfe der vorliegenden numerischen Grundwassermodelle unter Berücksichtigung der Realisationsergebnisse des regionalen Klimamodells COSMOCLM realistische Auswirkungsszenarien und Anpassungsstrategien für die Siedlungsentwässerung abgeleitet werden. Zur Abbildung der innerjährlichen Verschiebungen der Niederschläge ist es erforderlich, die Grundwasserneubildung als ausschlaggebende Wasserhaushaltsgröße für die Modellierung instationär und flächendifferenziert zu berechnen. Da bislang keine verifizierten instationären Wasserhaushaltsmodellansätze verfügbar sind, wurde in Anlehnung an die bisher bekannten Verfahren ein geeignetes Werkzeug entwickelt, dass bei der instationären Erweiterung der stationär kalibrierten Grundwassermodelle die Massenbilanz erhält. Die damit durchgeführten stationären und instationären Nachkalibrierungen der Grundwassermodelle weisen eine gute Anpassung auf. Aus der klimatischen Bodenwasserbilanz wurden Trends bis zu den Jahren 2050 und 2100 im Emschergebiet berechnet. Jiří Levý's The Art of Translation: from the Genesis of the Original to its Reception in the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking World

En este artículo tratamos de describir la génesis de la obra fundamental de Jiři Levý El arte de la traducción (1963) desde los primeros años de la década de los cincuenta, así como los avatares de su accidentada recepción internacional hasta la actualidad. La primera edición checa de la obra fue precedida por toda una serie investigaciones interdisciplinarias de las que queda constancia en artículos, manuales, conferencias y notas manuscritas. Este proceso se prolongó en las traducciones al alemán y al ruso de la obra (1969 y 1974), en las cuales Levý colaboró estrechamente con sus traductores realizando adaptaciones y modificaciones de diversos tipos para acercar la obra a sus receptores en las culturas de destino. En particular, la traducción alemana fue importante porque sirvió para difundir las ideas de Levý en el extranjero y también porque fungió, junto con el original checo, como patrón en la segunda edición checa de la obra, preparada por Karel Hausenblas en 1983, y que ha servido de modelo para todas las ediciones posteriores. Durante mucho tiempo la obra de Levý permaneció desconocida para el público internacional por motivos de índole lingüística y política, entre otros. Sin embargo, en la última década hemos presenciado un renacimiento del interés por su concepción teórica, evidenciado en la aparición de nuevas traducciones, a la que se considera como precursora de inquietudes teóricas contemporáneas.In this paper, we try to describe the genesis of Jiři Levý's groundbreaking work The Art of Translation (1963) from the early 1950s, as well as the vicissitudes of its international reception until the present day. The first Czech edition of the work was preceded by a whole series of interdisciplinary investigations recorded in articles, manuals, lectures and handwritten notes. This process was prolonged in the German and Russian translations of the work (1969 and 1974), in which Levý collaborated closely with his translators making adaptations and modifications of various kinds to bring the work closer to its recipients in the target cultures. In particular, the German translation was important because it served to spread Levý's ideas abroad and also because it acted, together with the Czech original, as a pattern in the second Czech edition of the work, prepared by Karel Hausenblas in 1983, which all subsequent editions have taken as model. For a long time, Levý's work remained unknown to international audiences for linguistic and political reasons, among others. However, in the last decade we have witnessed a revival of interest in his theoretical conception —evidenced in the appearance of new translations—which is considered now as a precursor of contemporary theoretical vistas

[ES] Este volumen reúne una serie de artículos en torno a la traducción y la interpretación en el par de lenguas alemán-español. Se estructura en distintas secciones temáticas, como reflejo de los diversos enfoques a los que da cabida: teoría de la traducción, historia de la traducción, traducción literaria, traducción especializada, lingüística, didáctica de la traducción e interpretación. En estas páginas se encontrarán enfoques históricos como los que pasan revista a las traducciones de la obra romántica Peter Schlemihls wundersame Geschichte, de la tetralogía wagneriana El anillo del Nibelungo o de los cuentos más emblemáticos de los hermanos Grimm. En otros artículos, los autores reflexionan sobre sus propias experiencias de traducción, incluyendo la esfera de la autotraducción. Se adoptan también perspectivas novedosas, como el análisis de los textos periodísticos de temática medioambiental desde una perspectiva ecolingüística o la aplicación de las teorías queer al análisis de traducciones. No faltan tampoco las contribuciones en el área de la lingüística contrastiva, de la lingüística de corpus y de la traducción especializada (catalogación de errores en la traducción biosanitaria, la fraseología en los textos jurídicos y médico-farmacéuticos, la hibridez textual, los neologismos relacionados con el terrorismo y los eufemismos de la crisis económico-financiera). Se abordan asimismo cuestiones relacionadas con la didáctica, como una reevaluación del método de gramática y traducción o el estudio de los argumentos elaborados por los estudiantes en los comentarios de traducción. Finalmente, los artículos dedicados a la interpretación estudian la comunicación intercultural en la antigua colonia alemana de Namibia, el lenguaje no verbal en la interpretación para los servicios públicos o el humor en conexión con la interpretación simultánea. Colonial Language Policy in the Former German South West Africa

The article deals with German colonial language policy and linguistic research carried out in the territory of Namibia during its time as a German colony. Since the language issue was one of the most challenging topics for both Germans and the indigenous population, a significant effort was made to establish substantial language training facilities. German colonists had the opportunity to attend the Seminar for Oriental Languages in Berlin and they received financial support from the government for their commitment to study. The local population learned the German language and culture, attending special courses under the auspices of missionaries. One of the most famous missionaries was Heinrich Vedder, who made a huge contribution to research on the Nama people, exploring their language and culture. Many contrastive linguistics textbooks were published, showing differences between the respective grammar and lexical systems. Another important attempt to support multilingualism was made by professional journals containing comprehensive information about new findings made in South West Africa.21522

A System Of Operations On Sliding Windows

One of the distinguishing characteristics of a data stream system is \u27a continuous query operating on dynamic data\u27 as opposed to \u27static data processed by instantaneous query\u27 in DBMS. In this paper, we propose a system of operators to process a continuous query on sliding windows over streaming data. We use the pre-defined notion of sliding windows over a data stream and provide an abstraction for a system of operations that supports evaluation of a continuous query on sliding windows.
