    Get PDF
A postal questionnaire survey of the 17 centres for paediatric cardiology in the UK investigated the attitudes of staff towards rehabilitation and the current level of provision. The majority of respondents (82%) believed they should provide rehabilitation for their patients, but only one centre had a programme for rehabilitation. Few respondents (18%) believed they were meeting the needs of their patients' for rehabilitation. Major barriers to providing rehabilitation were funding and the wide geographical catchment areas

Empirical research on relative and absolute effort estimation in software development projects

Should we be using relative estimation methods in software effort estimation? This thesis looks into an aspect of agile estimating by comparing the effects of using relative estimation methods with absolute estimation methods for software development effort estimates. The thesis describes a study conducted on a software development project where estimates in story points (relative) and ideal time (absolute) are provided using planning poker

Master's thesis in Change managementThere is a dynamic and interesting intersection between football and activism. As the world's most popular sport, football can be a formidable platform for activism. In this master thesis I will explore activism conducted by the supporters of Celtic FC. Social and political activism have strong traditions amongst Celtic supporters and in the Celtic community. The football club was founded as a charity in 1887 by the marginalized Irish-Catholic immigrant community in Glasgow. The purpose of this study is to gain insight into the social and political activism conducted by Celtic supporter activists. My research question was: to what extent does Celtic supporter activism constitute a new social movement? To find the answer to this, I conducted four field trips to Glasgow and Belfast. Here I used qualitative methods including 12 in-depth interviews, participant-observations and field conversations to gather data. This was in turn analyzed. I used new social movement theory as a theoretical framework. This theory considers both the structural and identity as being important to social movements (Peoples, 2019, p 17). I also explored the roles free space and collective identity play for social movements drawing on the work of Polletta (1999) and Polletta and Jasper (2001). In addition, I tried to reconceptualize new social movement theory as well as the roles of free spaces and collective identities by drawing on research in sport sociology on these concepts. I found that that Celtic supporter activism to a large degree constitutes a new social movement. Both the structural and identity are important in Celtic supporter activism. Firstly, Celtic supporter activists often fulfils Peoples (2019) requirement for social movements which are: “groups of people organizing to bring about – or resist – social change, using at least in part, non-institutional strategies and tactics” and often having social injustice and social inequality as core concerns which they mobilize around (p. 17). Secondly, Celtic is and has always been an important free space for its supporters. Collective identities which in turn fuel Celtic supporter activism are formed here. I found specifically six collective identities which play prominent roles in Celtic supporter activism. These are the Irish, Catholic, immigrant, inclusive, left-wing, and working-class collective identities. Furthermore, my research indicates that activism often is an important and integral part of Celtic supporter activists' lives, where it becomes something which is more than activism

Missoula Prescription Produce Program: Lessons Learned 2015-2017

    Get PDF
The Missoula Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Produce program (MFVPP) started in 2015 as a partnership between Garden City Harvest (a Missoula, MT food-security non-profit) and the Providence Endocrinology Center (a local health clinic focused on diabetes care). MVFPP allows physicians, physician assistants, and dieticians to prescribe fresh produce to their patients. Patients must be of low income and suffer from chronic disease. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of the MFVPP to lead to improved biometric measurements for patients. This paper also discusses the program’s limitations and complications and aims to chart a path forward for program stakeholders. Patients received $20 each month in the form of vouchers to spend at MFVPP market stands, and in exchange, enrolled in the 18-week program. The MFVPP addressed food access issues for patients by subsidizing the cost of produce these patients could obtain through the program. Patients met at market stands on Monday and Thursday evenings (4:30-6:30PM) from June 6th-October 5th, 2017. Most weeks, two MFVPP staff were present at each farm stand. Patients provided contact information and were measured for biometric variables (height, weight, blood pressure, and waist circumference) and filled out a demographic survey as time allowed. The biometric data we collected was inconclusive as to the MVFPP effectiveness in improving specific health measures. Forty patients enrolled in the MFVPP. We tracked patient participation and retention information. In addition, I interviewed some of the participants at the end of the program to learn about their experiences. I coded the interview data and analyzed for common themes. Forty patients enrolled in the MFVPP. The Interview results showed the MFVPP did not entirely eliminate barriers to accessing fresh produce, but did reduce some barriers, such as cost, during the farming season. Participants also reported trying new produce as a result of the program, and they described positive interactions with their health care providers as a result of the program. After interacting with MFVPP patients and providers for 20 weeks, and analyzing the data from interviews with patients, I recommend the program recruit additional providers and provider networks, establish a cohort model of enrollment, increase their program inputs, and hire a program coordinator

    Fundamental verdsettelse av NGIR

    Get PDF
Årsregnskap for perioden 2015-2021 normaliseres gjennom regnskapsanalyse.

An exploration of teaching and learning activities in mathematics flipped classrooms : A case study in an engineering program

Paper I is not available as a part of the dissertation due to the copyright. Author´s accepted manuscript of the paper is available in AURA as a separate file: https://hdl.handle.net/11250/2655384.This research project is a case-study of three consecutive cohorts of engineering students being subject to the pedagogical approach of flipped classroom (Bergmann & Sams, 2012). The study, which is qualitative and based on a naturalistic research paradigm (Moschkovich & Brenner, 2000), considers various aspects of mathematical learning when students are subject to this new form of learner-centred teaching (Stephan, 2014). Research on Flipped Classroom (FC) has increased substantially during the last decade. However, the bulk of studies consider mostly student satisfaction and performance comparisons between traditional lecture-based and FC teaching. As such, they provide little insight into the fundamental aspects of what makes the FC in tertiary mathematics education efficient or not. As such, there is a definite lack of research that provides qualitative socio-cultural studies of FC teaching and learning. The aim of the study was to address these shortcomings in the research field.publishedVersio
