International audienceElectrical generators of offshore wind or tidal current turbines are exposed to harsh marine and operating conditions. Predictive maintenance is therefore a key issue for the competitiveness of these energy generation systems. Generally speaking, the predictive maintenance is based on the monitoring of a Diagnostic Indicator (DI): the interpretation of its value or drift is used for the optimal planning of the corrective maintenance. In this work, we present briefly our new online monitoring technique of electrical machine winding insulation. This model-based approach consists in monitoring the drift of a DI built from the in-situ estimation of high-frequency electrical model parameters. The involved model structures are derived from the RLC network modeling of the winding insulation, with more or less lumped parameters. In the second part of the work, we investigate the effects of temperature changes on the estimated parameters of diagnostic models. A 1.5 kW low power wound stator is exposed to different temperature levels, from 30°C to 160°C, and for each temperature a series of experimental acquisitions is realized. Identification results show that resistance and inductance of a simple HF model structure are almost independent of temperature changes, while insulation capacitance increases with temperature increases: at 160°C it is 8% higher than its initial value at room temperature

It is important for implementing small and medium-sized initiatives in the country. At the same time, this method of attracting funds in Islamic countries is limited by the complexity of integrating Islamic values with modern financial solutions. This study is devoted to analysing the features of the development of Equity-Based crowdfunding in Oman using the example of the Ethis platform as the only Islamic crowdfunding platform in the country. The methodological basis of the research is qualitative analysis methods based on the analysis of statistical data or quantitative indicators. A conceptual approach was used to analyse scholarly articles, research papers, and online sources related to Islamic Equity-Based crowdfunding. The Islamic Equity-Based crowdfunding platform Ethis was chosen as the subject of the study because it has a successful track record of achieving Shariah-compliant investment goals. Based on the results of the analysis of the functioning of the Islamic share crowdfunding platform in Oman, a conclusion about the importance of adopting the Capital Markets Authority’s Decision No. E/153/2021 for developing the crowdfunding industry in Oman was made. The study theoretically proves the important role of CMA’s certification in increasing the legitimacy of crowdfunding platforms and public trust in the Omani Equity-Based crowdfunding industry. At the same time, it was concluded that the existing legal restrictions on the expansion of the investor community serve as disincentives for the development of investing in crowdfunding among the general public. In addition, the small number of Equity-Based crowdfunding platforms in Oman is due to the difficulty of combining traditional Islamic values with modern financial technology. It actualises the need to develop a comprehensive approach to the harmonisation of Islamic traditions with the specifics of the development of digital financial technologies. The results of the study are essential for researchers, practitioners and other interested persons from the point of view of deepening the basic principles of crowdfunding development and promoting their implementation in the context of increasing profits from the use of crowdfunding platforms

PURPOSE: To identify the characteristics of static standing balance and its postural control mechanisms during quiet side-by-side standing and the changes in these measures whilst wearing hinged ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) in children with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy (CP). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-one children with bilateral spastic CP (6.10 +/- 1.09 year-old) and 22 typically developing (TD) children (5.64 +/- 0.49 year-old) were recruited. Pressure data were recorded while subjects with or without AFOs stood on dual force platforms and net body center of pressure (CoP) coordinates were calculated from this data. Net body CoP was traced for measuring mediolateral (ML) and anteroposterior (AP) displacement and path length per second. Correlation coefficients between parameters representing ankle, hip, and transverse body rotation strategies were also analyzed. RESULTS: ML and AP displacement and path length per second of the CoP trajectory were higher in children with CP compared to TD children (p < 0.05). There were no significant improvements in these parameters whilst wearing hinged AFOs. Compared to TD children, children with CP used less ankle strategy though more hip and transverse rotation strategies for postural control during quiet standing. Whilst wearing hinged AFOs, the contribution of ankle strategy was significantly increased for ML balance control in children with CP (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Hinged AFOs for children with CP may be helpful in improving the postural control mechanisms but not the postural stability in quiet side-by-side standingope

Prior COVID-19 infection may increase risk for developing endothelial dysfunction following hematopoietic cell transplantation

Endothelial dysfunction underlies many of the major complications following hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), including transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (TA-TMA), veno-occlusive disease/sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (VOD/SOS), and engraftment syndrome (ES). Emerging evidence similarly implicates endothelitis and microangiopathy in severe COVID-19-related multi-system organ dysfunction. Given the overlap in these two illness states, we hypothesize that prior COVID-19 infection may increase risk for HCT-related endotheliopathies. This retrospective, multicenter study included patients aged 0-25 years who underwent autologous or allogeneic HCT for any indication between January 1, 2020 and September 21, 2021, with close attention to those infected with COVID-19 in either the six months prior to transplant or twelve months following transplant. Incidences of TA-TMA, VOD/SOS, and ES were compared among patients with COVID-19 infection pre-HCT and post-HCT, as well as with historical controls who were never infected with SARS-CoV-2. Those who underwent HCT following COVID-19 infection displayed significantly increased rates of TA-TMA compared to those who were never infected. Additionally, our data suggests a similar trend for increased VOD/SOS and ES rates, although this did not reach statistical significance. Therefore, a history of COVID-19 infection prior to undergoing HCT may be a nonmodifiable risk factor for endothelial-related complications following HCT. Further studies are warranted to better clarify this relationship among larger cohorts and in the era of the Omicron SARS-CoV-2 variants

Children with cerebral palsy exhibit greater and more regular postural sway than typically developing children

Following recent advances in the analysis of centre-of-pressure (COP) recordings, we examined the structure of COP trajectories in ten children (nine in the analyses) with cerebral palsy (CP) and nine typically developing (TD) children while standing quietly with eyes open (EO) and eyes closed (EC) and with concurrent visual COP feedback (FB). In particular, we quantified COP trajectories in terms of both the amount and regularity of sway. We hypothesised that: (1) compared to TD children, CP children exhibit a greater amount of sway and more regular sway and (2) concurrent visual feedback (creating an external functional context for postural control, inducing a more external focus of attention) decreases both the amount of sway and sway regularity in TD and CP children alike, while closing the eyes has opposite effects. The data were largely in agreement with both hypotheses. Compared to TD children, the amount of sway tended to be larger in CP children, while sway was more regular. Furthermore, the presence of concurrent visual feedback resulted in less regular sway compared to the EO and EC conditions. This effect was less pronounced in the CP group where posturograms were most regular in the EO condition rather than in the EC condition, as in the control group. Nonetheless, we concluded that CP children might benefit from therapies involving postural tasks with an external functional context for postural control
