In a recent paper, Idrisi, Ullah and Sikkandhar [1] considered some aspects of the Restricted Six-Body Problem. The problem consists of the motion of an infinitesimal mass under the gravity field of five bodies in a very special configuration: There are four equal points with equal masses m located at the vertices of a regular square that is rotating on its own plane about its center of mass with constant angular velocity ω. Besides, there is a fifth body of mass m0 placed at the center of the square..

Treball Final de Grau en Psicologia. Codi: PS1048. In order to identify and describe the factors that influence in general attitude towards organ donation (GAOD) in the Spanish general population, we conducted a telephone survey of 1,200 citizens over 18 years throughout the Spanish state. From the factorial analysis we were obtained the dependent variable (DV), where the influential factors to this were the personal and demographic variables. It also wanted to see the interaction between Community-Sex-Age variables among linear mixed models analysis. The results exhibit that although themselves are not influential variables, the interaction between these significantly affect to GAOD. Understanding and analysis of these results that favour or hinder the donation activity in the Spanish state provide useful information for the future design, development and implementation of educational intervention programs or projects to increase the number of organ donations and minimize the barriers that currently exist on the successful realization of this type of treatment for people with terminal illnesses in some organ of your body. To increase the number of donations we propose the design of programs and actions especially focused in each region, gender and age

Bayesian analysis of the mass composition of Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Rays using Xmax data recorded at the Pierre Auger Observatory

    Get PDF
Understanding the composition of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECRs) at Earth is crucial to unveil their origin and propagation mechanisms, and it is thus one of the main current challenges in the field of Astroparticle Physics. This thesis is aimed to study the mass composition of UHECRs using data measured at the Pierre Auger Observatory in a Bayesian approach. An innovative method for composition analysis based on Bayesian statistics is developed. This is then applied to Auger data to infer the composition of UHECRs under different primary cosmic ray mass scenarios and assuming different hadronic interaction models. As a result a transition from intermediate to lighter masses from 0.63 EeV to 2 EeV is found. Above this energy the composition becomes heavier as energy increases. Using these results and the all particle spectrum measured at the Auger Observatory a first estimate of the proton flux is inferred and its astrophysical interpretations are discussed

Knot Types Used by Transformable and Rigid Linear Structural Systems

    Get PDF
A knot is the joining place between two or more constructive elements in a framework or structure. They have a fundamental importance in the structure, according to their design they will be able to give a geometric configuration or another to the system and will also absorb certain forces or others. Depending on the movements they allow to the bars, there are rigid knots, articulated knots and slip knots. In this paper a study of cases about rigid knots or embedments used by structural systems so far will be presented. These types of knots prevent the rotation and movement of the constructive elements used for construction. In this paper also a study of cases about the articulated and slip knots used by transformable structural systems so far will be presented. An articulated knot allows the rotation but not the movement of the elements. A slip knot prevents movement in one of the three axes of the reference system, but not in the others, nor in the rotation between the elements. The research is focused in presenting a summary and comparison of rigid knots, articulated knots and slip knots that have been used in the structural design of some architecture. The union systems research will be crucial in this study. The investigation shows an important state of the art that provides technical solutions to apply on novel architectures based on rigid structural systems and articulated and slip structural systems. The research is useful to produce the current constructive solutions based on these constructive systems

    Tensegrities and Tensioned Structures

“Push-and-pull” efficient structures have been inconceivable between XVIII centuries. It is because of the incapacity of obtain an efficient behaviour of tensioned material. Since XVIII centuries, architecture developed some structural knowledge generating novel structural forms in the architecture and engineering that were not known before. Tensegrities and tensioned structures were studied due to the knowledge of geometry and tension. Some investigations about tensegrities and tensioned structures have been developed since that moment. Tensegrities are bar and cable structures that work only in compression or tension efforts. Bars and cables are balanced, but in appearance the growth is disorderly. Most of deployable structures are based on tensegrity systems. The research is focused in presenting a summary of tensegrities and tensioned architectures that have been used in the structural design of novel patterns. The research of adequate materials to tension efforts will be crucial in this study. The investigation presents an important state of the art that provides technical solutions to apply on novel architectures based on tensegrities and tensioned structures. The research is useful to produce the current constructive solutions based on these constructive systems

A Comparative Study of the Pliability of Separate Auxetic Architectonic Structures by Means of CAD

    Get PDF
If a lengthened structure gets fat in all directions and the same structure gets narrower when it is pressed, it is an auxetic structure. This happens because these kinds of structures have a negative Poisson's ratio (NPR). In this paper a comparative study of unity patterns of CAD auxetic geometries is presented. A Computer Aided Design library of auxetic geometries will be developed to apply them to architecture. The geometric behavior of the eighteen auxetic separate patterns is tested from the developed library in order to develop a systematic comparison, analyzing properties of these forms, such as their maximum achievable area reductions in relation with the total length of bars of the structure, in order to obtain a growth factor

Synthesis, characterization and performance of robust poison-resistant ultrathin film yttria stabilized zirconia – nickel anodes for application in solid electrolyte fuel cells

We report on the synthesis of undoped ∼5 μm YSZ-Ni porous thin films prepared by reactive pulsed DC magnetron sputtering at an oblique angle of incidence. Pre-calcination of the amorphous unmodified precursor layers followed by reduction produces a film consisting of uniformly distributed tilted columnar aggregates having extensive three-phase boundaries and favorable gas diffusion characteristics. Similarly prepared films doped with 1.2 at.% Au are also porous and contain highly dispersed gold present as Ni-Au alloy particles whose surfaces are strongly enriched with Au. With hydrogen as fuel, the performance of the undoped thin film anodes is comparable to that of 10–20 times thicker typical commercial anodes. With a 1:1 steam/carbon feed, the un-doped anode cell current rapidly falls to zero after 60 h. In striking contrast, the initial performance of the Au-doped anode is much higher and remains unaffected after 170 h. Under deliberately harsh conditions the performance of the Au-doped anodes decreases progressively, almost certainly due to carbon deposition. Even so, the cell maintains some activity after 3 days operation in dramatic contrast with the un-doped anode, which stops working after only three hours of use. The implications and possible practical application of these findings are discussed.European Union 298300Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad MAT2013‐40852R, 201560E05
