The position control of a 2D model helicopter falls into complex nonlinear problems domain which makes it rather hard. In this paper a fuzzy controller is proposed to stabilize the helicopter on a designated target. The 3D model of the helicopter is simplified to derive a 2D model and all the states are assumed to be measurable. Based on the model, it was possible to decouple the position and orientation control of the helicopter. However the two parts are related through a fuzzy rule base. To verify the proposed method a simulation program is written in C++ which takes advantages of OpenGL to enable having 3D features. The response graphs are then presented

Ankara : The Department of Computer Engineering and the Graduate School of Engineering and Science of Bilkent University, 2012.Thesis (Master's) -- Bilkent University, 2012.Includes bibliographical references.A common practice in software architecture design is to apply so-called architectural views to design software architecture for the various stakeholder concerns. Architectural views are usually developed based on architectural viewpoints which define the conventions for constructing, interpreting and analyzing views. So far most architectural viewpoints seem to have been primarily used either to support the communication among stakeholders, or at the best to provide a blueprint for the detailed design. In this thesis, we provide a software language engineering approach to define viewpoints as domain specific languages. This enhances the formal precision of architectural viewpoints and leads to executable views that can be interpreted and analyzed by tools. We illustrate our approach for defining domain specific languages for the viewpoints of the Views and Beyond framework. The approach is implemented as an Eclipse plug-in, SAVE-Bench tool, which can be used to define different views based on the predefined software architecture viewpoints. The tool also supports automatic generation of architecture documentation from view models.Demirli, ElifM.S

It is seen that education institutes use many techniques to increase the quality of the services being provided. However, as competition in the education sector has been rising dramatically, it is hard to differentiate the services offered. In this perspective, it is becoming hard to attract and keep loyal learners in education institutes. So, lifelong learning and continuing professional development are the two tools that enhance the level of loyalty to the education institutes. In this study, an attempt has been made to understand the factors that define learner’s loyalty in the Vocational Education Institutes. In addition, the relation of trust to the Institute, satisfaction, and learner’s loyalty variables to the service quality will be researched. In this sense, 184 questionnaires have been conducted to students who have attended the Public Oversight Board Education Program offered by Istanbul Commerce University’s Lifelong Learning Center. Data has been analyzed by Structural Equation Modelling. According to the results of the study, education institutes who deal solely with the issue of trust, satisfaction, and learner’s loyalty can have the potential to keep their learners on hand on a life-long basis thereby earning their loyalty to the fullest extent

In today's modern family structure, male and female roles are separated from the traditional order and shared in a more egalitarian way depending on the increase of education level and the work of both spouses. Despite this, the sharing of the role of earning money in the family between men and women does not increase the sharing of domestic roles at the same rate. In this context, the study was conducted to examine family role sharing in the context of gender role perception of white-collar working married women and men. The snowball sampling method was used in this study, which was conducted using the semi-structured interview technique, one of the qualitative research methods. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The working group consists of 20 participants in total, 10 married couples with children and working. As a result of the research, it is seen that there is a significant increase in an egalitarian way when compared to the traditional role understanding in terms of working with both spouses, decision-making situation, and sharing roles in the family. Despite this, most domestic roles are in women, and the majority of out-of-home responsibilities are in men was observed due to the internalization of gender role perception

Evaluation framework for software architecture viewpoint languages

    Get PDF
In general, software architecture is documented using software architecture views to address the different stakeholder concerns. The current trend recognizes that the set of viewpoints should not be fixed but multiple viewpoints might be introduced instead to design and document the software architecture. To ensure the quality of the software architecture various software architecture evaluation approaches have been introduced. In addition several documentation guidelines have been provided to ensure the quality of the software architecture document. Unfortunately, the evaluation of the adopted viewpoints that are used to design and document the software architecture has not been considered explicitly. If the architectural viewpoints are not well-defined then implicitly this will have an impact on the quality of the design and the documentation of the software architecture. We present an evaluation framework for assessing existing or newly defined software architecture viewpoint languages. The approach is based on software language engineering techniques, and considers each viewpoint as a metamodel. The approach does not assume a particular architecture framework and can be applied to existing or newly defined viewpoint languages. We illustrate our approach for modeling and reviewing the first and second editions of the viewpoint languages of the Views and Beyond approach. Copyright © ACM

Fuzzy Mobile-Robot Positioning in Intelligent Spaces Using Wireless Sensor Networks

    Get PDF
This work presents the development and experimental evaluation of a method based on fuzzy logic to locate mobile robots in an Intelligent Space using Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The problem consists of locating a mobile node using only inter-node range measurements, which are estimated by radio frequency signal strength attenuation. The sensor model of these measurements is very noisy and unreliable. The proposed method makes use of fuzzy logic for modeling and dealing with such uncertain information. Besides, the proposed approach is compared with a probabilistic technique showing that the fuzzy approach is able to handle highly uncertain situations that are difficult to manage by well-known localization methods
