For the purposes of this thesis, object change was defined as an object entering the screen of an advergame to which a player must react to with a motor response using a mouse or keyboard. This study utilized a 2 (level of object change) x 5 (advergame) repeatedmeasures experiment. Explicit memory was measured using a speeded recognition test. Implicit memory was measured via a word-fill task assignment. A signal detection analysis of explicit memory data revealed that participants were less able to recognize brands they had seen in high object change games versus brands in low object change games. There were no significant differences in implicit memory for high object change game brands and low object change game brands

Torsion and the Electromagnetic Field

In the framework of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity, we study the dynamics of a gravitationally coupled electromagnetic field. It is shown that, besides being able to be minimally coupled to torsion, the electromagnetic field, through its energy-momentum tensor, is also able to produce torsion. Furthermore, it is shown that this kind of coupling of the electromagnetic field with torsion preserves the local gauge invariance of Maxwell's theory

Dinâmicas de gestão nas PME - O sector da restauração e bebidas

Dissertação apresentada como requisito parcial para obtenção do grau de Mestre em Estatística e Gestão de InformaçãoO sector da Restauração e Bebidas assume hoje uma importância relevante no contexto da oferta turística nacional, representando 83% das empresas, 79% do Emprego e 76% do volume de negócios gerado pela actividade turística em Portugal. Trata-se de uma realidade económica que gera mais de 187.000 postos de trabalho directos, repartidos por quase 61.000 empresas que facturam 6.400 milhões de euros (INE, 2004). Algumas das lacunas deste sector residem na falta de informação e na inexistência de um cadastro dos estabelecimentos de Restauração e Bebidas. Devido a esta situação, a informação produzida sobre o sector está subavaliada e é deficitária. Assim, propõe-se a elaboração de um projecto-piloto de registo dos estabelecimentos de Restauração e Bebidas numa área geográfica delimitada. Este estudo tem por base duas fontes principais de informação; uma série temporal de dados estatísticos, publicados pelo INE e pelo Eurostat, respeitantes às CAE’s 553 (restaurantes), 554 (estabelecimentos de Bebidas) e 555 (catering), para o total nacional e para cada uma das sete regiões que constituem a NUTS II, (especificando-se para a região do Alentejo), analisados a partir das variáveis “Número de Empresas”, “Pessoal ao Serviço” e “Volume de Negócios”; e um inquérito realizado aos estabelecimentos de Restauração e Bebidas da cidade de Évora

TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro Sócio Econômico, Curso de Administração.A partir da verificação de uma oportunidade, a qual consiste na abertura de uma clinica de acupuntura na cidade de Silo José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, Brasil, buscou-se elaborar um plano de negócios com o objetivo de estruturar os aspectos relevantes do negócio e permitir concluir quanto a viabilidade de abertura do empreendimento. A Alma clinica de acupuntura se localizará na região central de São José do Rio Preto, e contará com um ambiente que remete ao cliente uma sensação de paz, tranquilidade e equilíbrio. As estratégias de diferenciação serão relacionadas ao estreitamento do relacionamento com o cliente, buscando fidelização; e propagandas de conscientização da população em relação aos benefícios da acupuntura, com o objetivo de gerar interesse e atrair novos clientes. Foram levantados os aspectos jurídicos e legais que envolvem a abertura e a continuidade do negócio; elaborou-se o piano de marketing, por meio da análise do mercado consumidor, fornecedor e .concorrente, além das estratégias relacionadas ao composto de marketing; definiu-se a missão, a visão e os objetivos da empresa; desenhou-se uma matriz SWOT, a fim de identificar as forças e fraquezas do ambiente interno e as oportunidades e ameaças do ambiente externo e; elaborou-se o plano financeiro, com projeções de receitas, custos, despesas, demonstrativos e cálculos de indicadores

Implementação de modelos de produção em PGF. Aplicação de um caso de estudo no Concelho de Ponte de Sôr

Mestrado em Engenharia Florestal e dos Recursos Naturais - Instituto Superior de AgronomiaThe scope of the present work is to demonstrate the use of growth and yield models in forestry management practice, namely in the elaboration of a forestry management plan. The SUBER model, a growth and yield model for cork oak stands in Portugal was used to simulate the development of two cork oak stands in the area of Ponte de Sôr. By using data collected from forest inventory, the model SUBER v5.0 allowed to simulate the evolution of the cork oak stands for the next 30 years, according to several management alternatives defined in order to evaluate the effect of different management options in each stand. The resulting outputs include sustainability indicators of cork oaks stands, wood and cork production, carbon sequestration and also economic indicators. By the end of this work it is clearly demonstrated the importance of these growth and yield models as tools for sustainable forest management for areas of cork oak forests in Portugal, and for the additional information that they can generate and embed in a forestry management plan

A Criatividade como fenómeno causal O papel do Processo de Formação na criação de condições propensas à sua emergência

O Estágio Profissional assume-se como um dos momentos relevantes da formação académica, uma vez que apela a uma forma privilegiada de aprendizagem, vivenciada, no exercício da função. Assim, e porque o Relatório de Estágio revela-se, também, como um momento de excelência para se poder refletir acerca de determinados assuntos, este documento irá tentar versar sobre as inquietações que foram sendo levantadas durante essa mesma vivência.Decidi incluir no relatório de estágio um estudo sobre qual deveria ser o papel da Formação na criação de condições propensas à emergência da Criatividade nos jogadores, sendo esta um aspeto essencial para um Futebol de qualidade superior. Por ser uma temática complexa, pelo facto de envolver inúmeras variáveis, também elas complexas por sua vez, como é a aprendizagem ou o desenvolvimento das crianças e jovens, tentamos abordá-la de uma forma o mais abrangente possível por forma a não mutilar a complexidade do fenómeno, não nos tornarmos massudos e extensivos mas, essencialmente, porque não teríamos o tempo suficiente. Chegamos a uma resposta clara à nossa pergunta inicial, nomeadamente qual o papel do Processo de Formação na criação de condições propensas à emergência da Criatividade. Para isso, foi realizada uma revisão da literatura relativa à temática e, posteriormente, um levantamento de opinião de diversos peritos na área do treino de Futebol. As respostas dos entrevistados permitiram perceber que mais do que ir isoladamente sobre cada variável deste fenómeno, é importante entendermos a sua Complexidade. Como tal, é na Qualidade das interações que promovemos que o Desenvolvimento da Criança e do jovem Jogador acontecerá e a Criatividade emergirá naturalmente, e com isso, trazermos qualidade ao Futebol.The Professional Internship is one of the relevant moments of the academic formation, since it appeals to a privileged form of learning, experienced, in the exercise of the function. Thus, because the Internship Report also reveals itself as a moment of excellence to be able to reflect on certain subjects, this document will try to address the concerns that were raised during the same experience.I decided to include in the internship report a study on what should be the role of the Development Process in the creation of conditions propitious to the emergency of Creativity, this being an essential aspect for a Football of superior quality. Because it is a complex theme, for the fact that it involves many variables, also complex in their own, such as learning or child development, we tried to approach it as comprehensively as possible to not mutilate the complexity of the phenomenon, to avoid becoming tiresome and extensive, but essentially because we would not have enough time. We came to a clear answer to our question, namely what is the role of the Training Process in creating the conditions prone to the emergence of Creativity. For that, a review of the literature on the subject was done previously, and later an interview to understand the opinion of several experts in the field of football training. We confronted the different ideas with the literature review and realized that rather than approaching in isolation each variable of this phenomenon, it is important to understand its Complexity. As such, it is in the quality of the interactions that we promote the development of the Child and the young Player that will occur and then Creativity will emerge naturally, and with that, we bring quality to Football

Management of singlet and triplet excitons for efficient white organic light-emitting devices

Lighting accounts for approximately 22 per cent of the electricity consumed in buildings in the United States, with 40 per cent of that amount consumed by inefficient (similar to 15 lm W-1) incandescent lamps(1,2). This has generated increased interest in the use of white electroluminescent organic light-emitting devices, owing to their potential for significantly improved efficiency over incandescent sources combined with low-cost, high-throughput manufacturability. The most impressive characteristics of such devices reported to date have been achieved in all-phosphor-doped devices, which have the potential for 100 per cent internal quantum efficiency(2): the phosphorescent molecules harness the triplet excitons that constitute three-quarters of the bound electron-hole pairs that form during charge injection, and which (unlike the remaining singlet excitons) would otherwise recombine non-radiatively. Here we introduce a different device concept that exploits a blue fluorescent molecule in exchange for a phosphorescent dopant, in combination with green and red phosphor dopants, to yield high power efficiency and stable colour balance, while maintaining the potential for unity internal quantum efficiency. Two distinct modes of energy transfer within this device serve to channel nearly all of the triplet energy to the phosphorescent dopants, retaining the singlet energy exclusively on the blue fluorescent dopant. Additionally, eliminating the exchange energy loss to the blue fluorophore allows for roughly 20 per cent increased power efficiency compared to a fully phosphorescent device. Our device challenges incandescent sources by exhibiting total external quantum and power efficiencies that peak at 18.7 +/- 0.5 per cent and 37.6 +/- 0.6 lm W-1, respectively, decreasing to 18.4 +/- 0.5 per cent and 23.8 +/- 0.5 lm W-1 at a high luminance of 500 cd m(-2).Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/62889/1/nature04645.pd
