Askskottsjuka

40 Gbit/s silicon-organic hybrid (SOH) phase modulator
A 40 Gbit/s electro-optic modulator is demonstrated. The modulator is based on a slotted silicon waveguide filled with an organic material. The silicon organic hybrid (SOH) approach allows combining highly nonlinear electro-optic organic materials with CMOS-compatible silicon photonics technology
Relationship and genetic structure among autoecious and heteroecious populations of Cronartium pini in northern Fennoscandia
Epidemics of Scots pine blister rust, caused by Cronartium pini, have become an increasing problem in northern Finland and Sweden. The biology of the rust fungus is complex, with two different life cycle forms that cannot be morphologically distinguished, and it is unclear to what extent the two forms contribute to the epidemics. Genetic structure of fourteen populations of C. pini were investigated in Fennoscandia. Distinction between the two life cycle forms, a heteroecious and an autoecious one, was made by determining zygosity using microsatellite markers, and AFLP markers were developed to analyse population genetic relationships. The results showed that the two life cycle forms are clearly differentiated and occur in separate populations. Within the life cycle forms, geographic differentiation was evident, probably due to restricted gene flow as well as connection with different alternating hosts. The host-alternating form dominated in the epidemic regions in northern Fennoscandia. Implications for silvicultural practices are discussed
100 Gbit/s electro-optic modulator and 56 Gbits/s wavelength converter for DQPSK data in silicon-organic hybrid (SOH) technology
CMOS-compatible silicon photonics combined with covers of chi (2) or chi (3)-nonlinear organic material allows electro-optic modulators and all-optical wavelength converters for data rates of 100 Gbit/s and beyond. The devices are not impaired by free carriers
Bounded droop controller for parallel operation of inverters
In this paper, the stability of parallel-operated inverters in the sense of boundedness is investigated. At first, the non-linear model of parallelled inverters with a generic linear or non-linear load is obtained by using the generalised dissipative Hamiltonian structure and then the robust droop controller, recently proposed in the literature for parallel operation of inverters, is implemented in a way to produce a bounded control output. The proposed controller is called the bounded droop controller (BDC). It introduces a zero-gain property and can guarantee the boundedness of the closed-loop system solution. Therefore, for the first time, the closed-loop stability in the sense of boundedness is guaranteed for parallelled inverters feeding generic non-linear/linear loads. The controller structure is further improved to increase its robustness with respect to initial conditions, numerical errors or external disturbances while maintaining the stability property. Moreover, the controller is tuned to avoid any possible limit cycles in the voltage dynamics. Real-time simulation results for two single-phase inverters operated in parallel loaded with a non-linear load are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed BDC
