On the computation of one-loop amplitudes with external fermions in 4d heterotic superstrings

    Get PDF
We present the technical tools needed to compute any one-loop amplitude involving external spacetime fermions in a four-dimensional heterotic string model a` la Kawai-Lewellen-Tye. As an example, we compute the one-loop three-point amplitude with one "photon" and two external massive fermions ("electrons"). As a check of our computation, we verify that the one-loop contribution to the Anomalous Magnetic Moment vanishes if the model has spacetime supersymmetry, as required by the supersymmetric sum rules.Comment: 1+59 pages, TeX macros included (AMSFonts required

On the Compton Scattering in String Theory

    Get PDF
We explicitly compute the Compton amplitude for the scattering of a photon and a (massless) ``electron/positron'' at tree level and one loop, in a four-dimensional fermionic heterotic string model. We comment on the relationship between the amplitudes we compute in string theory and the corresponding ones in field theory.Comment: 1+12 pages, LaTe

Thesis, Jakarta : Economics Education Studies Program, Concentration of Education Administration, Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta, 2012. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between interpersonal communication with job satisfaction in employees of PT. Torsina Redikon. The study was conducted over two months, starting in May until June 2012. The method used is survey method with the correlational approach. The study population was all employees of PT. Torsina Redikon much as 201 people, and affordable population of this study were employees of the office staff totaling 50 people with 44 people as sample. Samples were taken using simple random sampling. Job Satisfaction (variable Y) used an instrument with a Likert Scale. Before the instrument is used variable, construct validity tested through the validation process is the calculation of the correlation coefficient score points with the total score and reliability testing with Cronbach Alpha formula. Reliability of the results of the variable item Y (Job Satisfaction) of 0.919. This proves that the variable Y has a very high reliability. Interpersonal Communications (Interpersonal) (Variable X) also used the instrument with a Likert Scale. Before the instrument variable X is used, tested the construct validity through a validation process is the calculation of the correlation coefficient score points with the total score and reliability testing with Cronbach Alpha formula. The results of the variable X reliabilits item (Interpersonal Communication (Interpersonal)) of 0.903. This proves that the variable X has a very high reliability. Test requirements analysis is performed by finding the regression equation obtained Y = 15.49 + 0.654 X. The results of normality test liliefors produce Lhitung = 0.095 whereas for n = 44 Ltabel at 0.05 significance level is 0.133. Because Lhitung <Ltabel the variables X and Y are normally distributed. Testing the hypothesis by generating regression test keberartian Fhitung (15.89)> Ftabel (4.07) which means that the regression equation produces Fhitung signifikan.Uji linearity regression (0.69) <Ftabel (2.19) thus concluded that the regression equation linear. Product moment correlation coefficient calculation result rhitung = 0.528. Subsequently keberartian correlation coefficient test using the t-test, produce tcount (3.99)> TTable (1.68). The results of these studies concluded that there is a positive relationship between interpersonal communication with the performance of the employee. With a coefficient of determination or test results obtained 27.45% determinant of job satisfaction variable (Y) is determined by interpersonal communication (interpersonal) (X). Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to gain a better understanding of the factors that constitute a positive and negative supervisor-supervisee relationship as perceived by speech-language pathology graduate students. Clinical practicum experiences were analyzed using qualitative methods via recorded in-depth participant interviews. After the data were collected and transcribed, the narratives were analyzed to draw useful inferences and discover underlying themes using a phenomenological methodology approach. Two overlaying themes, ASHA’s Task 1 of Supervision and Anderson’s Continuum Model of Supervision, were identified from the participants’ interviews and were used to categorize the data. Results indicate the most likely factors attributed to a positive clinical experience included constructive feedback, respect, positive praise, clear expectations and structured clinical guidance while the factors that were most likely attributed to a negative experience were lack of constructive feedback, lack of perceived respect, negative criticism, unclear expectations, and minimal clinical guidance

    World-Sheet Supersymmetry Without Contact Terms

Green and Seiberg showed that, in simple treatments of fermionic string theory, it is necessary to introduce contact interactions when vertex operators collide. Otherwise, certain superconformal Ward identities would be violated. In this note, we show how these contact terms arise naturally when proper account is taken of the superconformal geometry involved when punctures collide. More precisely, we show that there is no contact term at all! Rather, corrections arise to the ``na\"\i ve" formula when the boundary of moduli space is described correctly.Comment: 14pp., 2 figures (included

Vanishing Theorems for the Self-Dual N=2 String

    Get PDF
It is proven that up to possible surface terms, the only non-vanishing momentum-dependent amplitudes for the self-dual N=2 string in R2,2R^{2,2} are the tree-level two and three-point functions, and the only non-vanishing momentum-independent amplitudes are the one-loop partition function and the tree-level two and four-point functions. The calculations are performed using the topological prescription developed in an earlier paper with Vafa. As in supersymmetric non-renormalization theorems, the vanishing proof is based on a relationship between the zero-momentum dilaton and axion.Comment: 8 pages te

Higher Loop Spin Field Correlators in Various Dimensions

We compute higher-point superstring correlators involving spin fields in various even space-time dimensions D at tree-level and to arbitrary loop order. This generalizes previous work in D=4 space-time dimensions. The main focus are D=6,8 and D=10 superstring compactifications for which correlation functions with four and more spin fields are computed. More precisely, we present every non-vanishing six-point function. A number of results can even be derived for arbitrary D. A closed formula for the correlators with any number of fermions psi and two spin fields S in D space-time dimensions is given for arbitrary genus. Moreover, in D=6 and for arbitrary genus, we find a general formula for the correlators . The latter serve as basic building blocks to construct higher-point fermionic correlation functions. In D=8 we can profit from the SO(8)-triality to derive further tree-level correlators with a large numbers of spin fields.Comment: 47 pages, 1 figure; v2: typos corrected; submitted to JHE

Path-Integral Quantization of the (2,2) String

    Get PDF
A complete treatment of the (2,2) NSR string in flat (2+2) dimensional space-time is given, from the formal path integral over N=2 super Riemann surfaces to the computational recipe for amplitudes at any loop or gauge instanton number. We perform in detail the superconformal gauge fixing, discuss the spectral flow, and analyze the supermoduli space with emphasis on the gauge moduli. Background gauge field configurations in all instanton sectors are constructed. We develop chiral bosonization on punctured higher-genus surfaces in the presence of gauge moduli and instantons. The BRST cohomology is recapitulated, with a new space-time interpretation for picture-changing. We point out two ways of combining left- and right-movers, which lead to different three-point functions.Comment: 36 pages, LaTeX; published version (typos & eq.(7.12) corrected

Yukawa Corrections from Four-Point Functions in Intersecting D6-Brane Models

    Get PDF
We discuss corrections to the Yukawa matrices of the Standard Model (SM) fermions in intersecting D-brane models due to four-point interactions. Recently, an intersecting D-brane model has been found where it is possible to obtain correct masses and mixings for all quarks as well as the tau lepton. However, the masses for the first two charged leptons come close to the right values but are not quite correct. Since the electron and muon are quite light, it is likely that there are additional corrections to their masses which cannot be neglected. With this in mind, we consider contributions to the SM fermion mass matrices from four-point interactions. In an explicit model, we show that it is indeed possible to obtain the SM fermion masses and mixings which are a better match to those resulting from experimental data extrapolated at the unification scale when these corrections are included. These corrections may have broader application to other models.Comment: 24 pages, 4 figure
