Measuring Co-Movements of CDS Premia during the Greek Debt Crisis

In this paper we test whether the co-movement of sovereign CDS premia increased significantly after the Greek debt crisis started in October 2009. We perform a bivariate test for contagion that is based on an approach proposed by Forbes and Rigobon (2002). Our sample consists of daily data between October 2008 and July 2010 for 39 countries including both emerging and industrialized countries. Our results indicate that there were periods of contagion for CDS markets during the Greek debt crisis, which is in contrast to the results from Forbes and Rigobon (2002) for equity markets after the Hong Kong crash and their conclusion of "no contagion, only interdependence". Sexualaufklärung an Oberwalliser Schulen: wie setzen die SIPE-Mitarbeitenden die Sexualaufklärung während der obligatorischen Schulzeit im Oberwallis um?

Die vorliegende Bachelorarbeit befasst sich mit der Thematik der Sexualaufklärung. Es wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie die Sexualaufklärung von den SIPE-Mitarbeitenden während den obligatorischen Schuljahren im Oberwallis durchgeführt wird. Der theoretische Rahmen widmet sich der Definition von Sexualität und den verschiede-nen Begrifflichkeiten. Wesentliche Fakten bezüglich der Jugendsexualität sowie die Rol-len der Eltern, Lehrpersonen, Fachpersonen und Medien innerhalb der Entwicklungs-jahre, werden erläutert. Gefolgt von einem geschichtlichen Teil der Sexualaufklärung wird auf die rechtliche Situation, international sowie national, eingegangen. Ein Blick auf die Schweiz macht auf die Verschiedenartigkeit, wie die Sexualaufklärung in einem fö-deralistischen Staat organisiert sein kann, aufmerksam. Eine Darstellung des politischen Diskurses soll veranschaulichen, wie sowohl die Befürworter wie auch Gegner, ihre An-sichten bezüglich der Sexualaufklärung, begründen. Autour du Mur (dit) d'Hannibal : appréhender un "dispositif militaire" du premier siècle av. J.-C. dans les Alpes poenines (Valais, Suisse et Vallée d'Aoste, Italie)

Des sites occupés par des militaires romains durant la seconde moitié du premier siècle avant J.-C. ont été mis en évidence entre 2300 et 3100 m d'altitude dans les Alpes poenines. Après une introduction au programme de recherche sur ces positions, un catalogue présente les résultats des investigations sur les sites valaisans. La confrontation de ces découvertes aux sources historiques et plus particulièrement aux événements ayant amené à l'établissement de l'hégémonie romaine sur cette région, ainsi que le rappel des réserves méthodologiques inhérentes à cet exercice font office de conclusion. L'ensemble amène un nouvel éclairage sur la période tardo- républicaine dans cette partie des Alpes et présente un état des lieux de cette recherche toujours en cours.Sites occupied by Roman soldiers during the second half of first century BC have been found between 2300 and 3100 m altitude in the Poenine Alps. After an introduction to the research program on these positions, a catalog presents the results of the investigations on the Valais sites. The confrontation of these discoveries with historical sources and, more particularly, with the events that led to the establishment of Roman hegemony over this region, as well as the reminder of the methodological reservations inherent to this exercise, serve as a conclusion. All this cast a new light over the late-republican period in this part of the Alps and presents a state of this ongoing research

Le présent travail a pour objectif d'identifier le phénomène de changement d'assureur. Le premier chapitre retrace brièvement l'évolution du système d'assurance-maladie en Suisse et présente quelques caractéristiques, spécifiques au libre-passage, des divers régimes légaux qui se sont succédés en Suisse. Dans une seconde partie, une étude empirique, basée sur les données de cinq assureurs-maladie regroupant plus de 240'000 assurés dans toute la Suisse, a pour ambition de déterminer les caractéristiques des assurés qui ont changé de caisse. L'analyse descriptive des données et une étude de régression doivent permettre d'établir le profil de ces individus et déterminer le lien qui existe entre le changement d'assurance et différentes variables relatives à ces assurés. Despite the fact that collaboration and information sharing are becoming more relevant for delivering high-quality services, PSN are not yet widely adopted in complex domains such as health care. While most of the literature is still focusing on the exposition of the unbound potential of PSN, this paper seeks to clarify the question of how to capture and manage the professional identity of an industry such that PSN can be purposefully anchored in the working context. Following an Action Design Research approach, we describe practical design propositions and possible tensions along the contextualization of a PSN, which was specifically catered for improving interprofessional and interorganizational collaboration in and between hospitals. We identify several implications for future research. In particular, we explain intended and unintended uses of PSN in hospitals and provide metaphors for explaining possible alternative understandings of domain engineering

Anti-malarial ozonides OZ439 and OZ609 tested at clinically relevant compound exposure parameters in a novel ring-stage survival assay

BACKGROUND: Drug efficacy against kelch 13 mutant malaria parasites can be determined in vitro with the ring-stage survival assay (RSA). The conventional assay protocol reflects the exposure profile of dihydroartemisinin. METHODS: Taking into account that other anti-malarial peroxides, such as the synthetic ozonides OZ439 (artefenomel) and OZ609, have different pharmacokinetics, the RSA was adjusted to the concentration-time profile of these ozonides in humans and a novel, semi-automated readout was introduced. RESULTS: When tested at clinically relevant parameters, it was shown that OZ439 and OZ609 are active against the Plasmodium falciparum clinical isolate Cam3.I(R539T). CONCLUSION: If the in vitro RSA does indeed predict the potency of compounds against parasites with increased tolerance to artemisinin and its derivatives, then the herein presented data suggest that following drug-pulses of at least 48 h, OZ439 and OZ609 will be highly potent against kelch 13 mutant isolates, such as P. falciparum Cam3.I(R539T)

Site index and height growth curves for Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) (Mirb.) Franco in the Patagonian Andean Region of Rio Negro and Chubut, Argentina

El objetivo de este trabajo fue establecer curvas de indice de sitio y crecimiento en altura para Pino Oregón, de aplicación en la región andino patagónica. Mediante el análisis fustal de 69 árboles dominantes, seleccionados de 28 rodales, distribuidos en el área comprendida por Bariloche como límite norte (41° S, provincia de Río Negro) y El Corcovado al sur (43°30´ S, provincia de Chubut) y las isohietas de 500 a 1500 mm de precipitación media anual, como límites este-oeste, se formó una base de 1481 observaciones altura - edad al pecho. Para la construcción de la familia de curvas de crecimiento en altura se procedió según la metodología de Curva Guía y su posterior armonización, aplicando técnicas de regresión no lineal al modelo de Schumacher. Las curvas de indice de sitio, basadas en altura y edad se dedujeron de la función armonizada de crecimiento en altura, tomándose como edad de referencia 20 años a la altura del pecho. Para la función de indice de sitio se realizó una validación contra sus propios datos y se contrastó la función de crecimiento en altura con curvas de aplicación en el área de origen de la especie. El modelo de indice de sitio presentó, en la distribución de los errores de predicción, patrones similares a los citados en la literatura, con errores inferiores a 0,10 m a la edad de 20 años y en el contraste de las curvas de crecimiento en altura se observaron patrones similares a las curvas desarrolladas por Bruce para su área de origen dentro del rango de edades de la muestra (<40 años), siendo la diferencia inferior al 2 % a la edad de 65 años.The aim of this paper was to establish Site Index and heitgh curves for Douglas-fir for the aplication in the Patagonian Andean region. There is no antecedence in the region. From stem analysis to 69 dominat trees, selected form 28 plots, into de area between Bariloche in the north (41°30' S, Río Negro Province) and El Corcovado in the South (43° 30"S, Chubut Province), and between 500 to 1500 mm mean annual precipitation isohyet, as east and west limits, we prepared a data base with 1481 heigth-age register. For the construction of the growth heigth curve family we proceeded according with the methodology of the guide curve method and its later armonization, applying no linnear method to the Schumacher Model. The site index curve were deduced from the heigth growth curve, the reference age is 20 years at breast heigth. The autovalidation was made and the function was constrasted with Bruce’s heigth growth curve applied in the origen region. Les "Emblèmes" d'André Alciat: introduction, texte latin, traduction et commentaire d'un choix d'emblèmes sur les animaux

L'humaniste et juriste milanais André Alciat (1492-1550) est connu pour être le créateur de ce qui deviendra, au cours du XVIe siècle, le genre de l'emblème, caractérisé par sa structure tripartite '(inscriptio, pictura, subscriptio)'. 'L'Emblematum liber', publié pour la première fois en 1531, réédité à de nombreuses reprises, augmenté de poèmes supplémentaires et de nouvelles illustrations durant le XVIe siècle, contient plus de 200 emblèmes. Le présent commentaire étudie un choix de 75 emblèmes consacrés aux animaux. L'introduction aborde les différentes problématiques en lien avec les emblèmes et offre une synthèse des principales observations tirées de l'analyse du corpus. Le commentaire adopte une forme adaptée à ce genre hybride: pour chaque poème, il présente un choix de gravures issues des principales éditions, afin de mesurer l'évolution des motifs et leur adéquation au texte, puis une traduction française en prose des épigrammes latines, suivie d'un commentaire mettant en évidence la structure de la 'subscriptio', ses procédés stylistiques, ses sources d'inspiration et son interprétation symbolique
