The general aim of this work is to present comunicacioninvisible.net, a subject gateway for film studies designed specifically for research, education and virtual learning within the professional and academic community. It describes, classifies and provides access to open content databases in film studies available on the Web, placing specific emphasis on the quality of their content, accessibility and usability. A survey applied to researchers, teachers and professionals in communication and film studies has been performed for the suitable selection of the databases.El propósito general de este trabajo es presentar comunicacioninvisible.net, un directorio temático especializado (DTE) en el campo de los estudios fílmicos. Diseñado específicamente para la investigación, enseñanza y aprendizaje virtual de la comunidad académica y profesional, describe, clasifica y proporciona acceso a la consulta de bases de datos de contenido abierto disponibles en la web, considerando especialmente la calidad de su contenido, accesibilidad y usabilidad. Para la selección adecuada de los contenidos se ha realizado un cuestionario dirigido a docentes, investigadores y profesionales de la comunicación audiovisual y cinematografía

Alternativas al alargamiento de miembros inferiores en el tratamiento de las discrepancias de longitud

Las discrepancias de longitud de miembros inferiores responden a muy diversas etiologías y diferentes patrones de desarrollo de las mismas. Ambos factores pueden condicionar seriamente el tratamiento de las discrepancias de longitud. Por ello, es interesante recoger en varias consultas diversos parámetros (edad ósea, edad cronológica, y diferencia absoluta o porcentajes de discrepancia de longitud de MM. II.) para pronosticar la diferencia de longitud final en la madurez esquelética. En base a estos datos se podrá planificar el tratamiento de las discrepancias de longitud dependiendo de la etiología, malformaciones asociadas y de la diferencia al final del crecimiento. Genéricamente se acepta como ideal el alargar o estimular el crecimiento del miembro inferior más corto. Pero indudablemente hay diferencias de longitud que previsiblemente no superarán los 2-2.5 cm al final del crecimiento y que por tanto no será necesario ningún t r a t a m i e n t o quirúrgico sobre dichos MM.II. La mayoría de los autores coinciden en que estas diferencias de longitud, independientemente de su etiología, deben ser tratadas únicamente con una alza compensatoria en el miembro inferior corto. En una larga serie de población general, Morscher(l) encontró que el 10% de la población general sin ningún antecedente de patología previa ni con ninguna consecuencia funcional ni cosmética, presentaba una pierna más corta entre 1 y 20 milímetros. Por tanto, estas diferencias de longitud precisarán únicamente revisiones periódicas en las consultas de un servicio de Cirugía Ortopédica para vigiliancia durante el crecimiento en la infancia y adolescencia e intentar encontrar una etiología específica que justifique la misma

Emotional Effects on University Choice Behavior: The Influence of Experienced Narrators and Their Characteristics

This study analyzes the influence that experienced users of university resources might have as narrative sources of information for other students in the process of choosing their schools. Informative videos about the benefits of studying at the university provide a reference model. In these videos, a group of young people present their views and explain their reasons for choosing the university in which they are pursuing their degrees; the various narrators detail all the resources available. This study investigates whether the individual identifiers of these narrators (e.g., gender, age, physical appearance, nonverbal gestures such as smiling, posture) influence perceptions of the credibility of the information they provide. Among a sample of 150 students in their last year of pre-university training, the results demonstrate that the students’ ability to identify with the narrators provides information and arouses emotions that inform their perceptions of reliability and therefore their consumption choices. None of these predictors appear to serve as determinants that can be generalized, but if emotional attitudes in response to narratives about the topic (i.e., the university) are positive, then they prompt a change in attitude toward that reference topic too

Project-based collaborative engineering learning to develop Industry 4.0 skills within a PLM framework

Training and learning methods for engineering students, in the disciplines of product design and manufacturing, are becoming more difficult and complex since they have to integrate theoretical technical knowledge, skills in computer-aided applications (CAx) and skills in collaborative work practices. Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools support structured collaborative practices and CAx supports engineering content creation. Both types of software applications are key in the Industry 4.0 development. They also evolve over time, incorporate new functionalities, and change their graphical user interface (GUI), adding complexity to the learning process. Traditionally, engineering education addresses the learning of CAx and PLM tools separately, hindering a holistic learning experience to the students. This communication presents a structured integrated vision of these tools and their learning. Project-Based Learning (PBL) is proposed as a learning approach suitable to provide a learning experience that facilitates the development of Industry 4.0 skills and competences
