    Towards the higher point holographic momentum space amplitudes

    In this paper, we calculate higher point tree level vector amplitudes propagating in AdS4_4. We use bulk perturbation theory to compute tree level Witten diagrams. We show that when these amplitudes are written in momentum space, they reduce to relatively simple expressions.     Fusion of Learned Multi-Modal Representations and Dense Trajectories for Emotional Analysis in Videos

    When designing a video affective content analysis algorithm, one of the most important steps is the selection of discriminative features for the effective representation of video segments. The majority of existing affective content analysis methods either use low-level audio-visual features or generate handcrafted higher level representations based on these low-level features. We propose in this work to use deep learning methods, in particular convolutional neural networks (CNNs), in order to automatically learn and extract mid-level representations from raw data. To this end, we exploit the audio and visual modality of videos by employing Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and color values in the HSV color space. We also incorporate dense trajectory based motion features in order to further enhance the performance of the analysis. By means of multi-class support vector machines (SVMs) and fusion mechanisms, music video clips are classified into one of four affective categories representing the four quadrants of the Valence-Arousal (VA) space. Results obtained on a subset of the DEAP dataset show (1) that higher level representations perform better than low-level features, and (2) that incorporating motion information leads to a notable performance gain, independently from the chosen representation

    Surface Brightness Variation of the Contact Binary SW Lac: Clues From Doppler Imaging

    In this study, we present the preliminary light curve analysis of the contact binary SW Lac, using B, V light curves of the system spanning 2 years (2009 - 2010). During the spot modeling process, we used the information coming from the Doppler maps of the system, which was performed using the high resolution and phase dependent spectra obtained at the 2.1 m Otto Struve Telescope of the McDonald Observatory, in 2009. The results showed that the spot modeling from the light curve analysis are in accordance with the Doppler maps, while the non-circular spot modeling technique is needed in order to obtain much better and reliable spot models.Comment: This study was presented at the IAU Symposium 282, From Interacting Binaries to Exoplanets: Essential Modeling Tools Slovakia, July 18-22 2011.     The impact of software development companies on software engineers' responses to incomplete requirements

With incomplete requirements, depending on the requirement software engineers attempt to fi ll gaps differently; either by getting feedback from the user or by making assumptions. Assumptions may be explicit or implicit. Explicit assumptions are preferable to implicit assumptions because explicit assumptions can be validated. We conduct an empirical study to determine whether the number of explicit assumptions made by software engineers is related to the companies that the engineers work for. Using data from eight companies we investigate the responses of 251 software engineers to the same incomplete software requirement.     Towards adaptive multi-robot systems: self-organization and self-adaptation

The reason for this is that system designers are not able to fully specify the system during specification and development and before it is being deployed. Natural swarm systems enjoy similar characteristics, yet, being self-adaptive and being able to self-organize, these systems show beneficial emergent behaviour. Similar concepts can be extremely helpful for artificial systems, especially when it comes to multi-robot scenarios, which require such solution in order to be applicable to highly uncertain real world application. In this article, we present a comprehensive overview over state-of-the-art solutions in emergent systems, self-organization, self-adaptation, and robotics. We discuss these approaches in the light of a framework for multi-robot systems and identify similarities, differences missing links and open gaps that have to be addressed in order to make this framework possible

    Effect of Gr Contents on Wear Properties of Al2024/MgO/Al2O3/Gr Hybrid Composites

    In the present study, hybrid metal matrix composites, Al2024/10Al2O3, Al2024/10Al2O3/3MgO, Al2024/10Al2O3/6MgO, Al2024/10Al2O3/3MgO/1.5 Gr, Al2024/10Al2O3/3MgO/3Gr, and reinforcement samples (AA 2024) produced with powder metallurgy process. AA 2024 and reinforcement powders were determined mixture rations and separately mixed during 30 minutes in a three-dimensional Turbula mixer. The mixed compositions were pressed at 300 MPa and sintered at 550°C during 1 h. After that, three materials were extruded at the same temperature. Experimental results show that hybrid metal matrix composites (HMMCs) a better wear resistance than the reinforcement samples because of higher hardness. Gr behave as a lubricant during wear process. The wear resistance of HMMCs can be optimized with controlling of the reinforcement content and type. © 2018 The Authors
