Theory of Disordered Itinerant Ferromagnets I: Metallic Phase
A comprehensive theory for electronic transport in itinerant ferromagnets is
developed. We first show that the Q-field theory used previously to describe a
disordered Fermi liquid also has a saddle-point solution that describes a
ferromagnet in a disordered Stoner approximation. We calculate transport
coefficients and thermodynamic susceptibilities by expanding about the saddle
point to Gaussian order. At this level, the theory generalizes previous
RPA-type theories by including quenched disorder. We then study soft-mode
effects in the ferromagnetic state in a one-loop approximation. In
three-dimensions, we find that the spin waves induce a square-root frequency
dependence of the conductivity, but not of the density of states, that is
qualitatively the same as the usual weak-localization effect induced by the
diffusive soft modes. In contrast to the weak-localization anomaly, this effect
persists also at nonzero temperatures. In two-dimensions, however, the spin
waves do not lead to a logarithmic frequency dependence. This explains
experimental observations in thin ferromagnetic films, and it provides a basis
for the construction of a simple effective field theory for the transition from

Comment on "Critique of q-entropy for thermal statistics" by M. Nauenberg
It was recently published by M. Nauenberg [1] a quite long list of objections
about the physical validity for thermal statistics of the theory sometimes
referred to in the literature as {\it nonextensive statistical mechanics}. This
generalization of Boltzmann-Gibbs (BG) statistical mechanics is based on the
following expression for the entropy:

The author of [1] already presented orally the essence of his arguments in

Soil biochemistry and microbial activity in vineyards under conventional and organic management at Northeast Brazil.
The São Francisco Submedium Valley is located at the Brazilian semiarid region and is an important center for irrigated fruit growing. This region is responsible for 97% of the national exportation of table grapes, including seedless grapes. Based on the fact that organic fertilization can improve soil quality, we compared the effects of conventional and organic soil management on microbial activity and mycorrhization of seedless grape crops. We measured glomerospores number, most probable number (MPN) of propagules, richness of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) species, AMF root colonization, EE-BRSP production, carbon microbial biomass (C-MB), microbial respiration, fluorescein diacetate hydrolytic activity (FDA) and metabolic coefficient (qCO2). The organic management led to an increase in all variables with the exception of EE-BRSP and qCO2. Mycorrhizal colonization increased from 4.7% in conventional crops to 15.9% in organic crops. Spore number ranged from 4.1 to 12.4 per 50 g-1 soil in both management systems. The most probable number of AMF propagules increased from 79 cm-3 soil in the conventional system to 110 cm-3 soil in the organic system. Microbial carbon, CO2 emission, and FDA activity were increased by 100 to 200% in the organic crop. Thirteen species of AMF were identified, the majority in the organic cultivation system. Acaulospora excavata, Entrophospora infrequens, Glomus sp.3 and Scutellospora sp. were found only in the organically managed crop. S. gregaria was found only in the conventional crop. Integrative analysis based on HPLC-DAD-MS/MS and NMR of Bertholletia excelsa Bark Biomass Residues: Determination of ellagic acid derivatives
Bertholletia excelsa Bonpl. (Lecythidaceae) is a South American tree worldwide known for providing the Brazil nuts. In the Amazon Region, B. excelsa is found in monocultures, integrating agroforestries and providing raw materials for food and timber industries. Through the application of an integrative analysis based on high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detector and tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-DAD-MS/MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques, the present study showed that B. excelsa bark biomass residues contain large quantities of ellagic acid (EA) and its derivatives. Qualitatively, five compounds were characterized for the first time in this species. Quantitations were carried out to determine the total amount of these compounds in outer and inner bark tissues. A total of 4.96 and 44.09 g of EA derivatives per kg of dry residues was determined for the outer and inner barks, respectively. Among the EA derivatives, eschweilenol C, ellagic acid and valoneic acid dilactone were the main compounds. These results pointed B. excelsa barks as a valuable biomass residue with potential to be source of health-promoting compounds. Therefore, a potential raw material as source of valuable bioactive phenolic compounds is described herein. © 2019 Sociedade Brasileira de Química
Volume averaging in the quasispherical Szekeres model
This paper considers the volume averaging in the quasispherical Szekeres
model. The volume averaging became of considerable interest after it was shown
that the volume acceleration calculated within the averaging framework can be
positive even though the local expansion rate is always decelerating. This
issue was intensively studied within spherically symmetric models. However,
since our Universe is not spherically symmetric similar analysis is needed in
non symmetrical models. This papers presents the averaging analysis within the
quasispherical Szekeres model which is a non-symmetrical generalisation of the
spherically symmetric Lema\^itre--Tolman family of models. Density distribution
in the quasispherical Szekeres has a structure of a time-dependent mass dipole
superposed on a monopole. This paper shows that when calculating the volume
acceleration, , within the Szekeres model, the dipole does not
contribute to the final result, hence only depends on a monopole
configuration. Thus, the volume averaging within the Szekeres model leads to
literally the same solutions as obtained within the Lema\^itre--Tolman model.Comment: 8 pages; calculation of the spatial Ricci scalar added; accepted for

The Milky Way Bulge: Observed properties and a comparison to external galaxies
The Milky Way bulge offers a unique opportunity to investigate in detail the
role that different processes such as dynamical instabilities, hierarchical
merging, and dissipational collapse may have played in the history of the
Galaxy formation and evolution based on its resolved stellar population
properties. Large observation programmes and surveys of the bulge are providing
for the first time a look into the global view of the Milky Way bulge that can
be compared with the bulges of other galaxies, and be used as a template for
detailed comparison with models. The Milky Way has been shown to have a
box/peanut (B/P) bulge and recent evidence seems to suggest the presence of an
additional spheroidal component. In this review we summarise the global
chemical abundances, kinematics and structural properties that allow us to
disentangle these multiple components and provide constraints to understand
their origin. The investigation of both detailed and global properties of the
bulge now provide us with the opportunity to characterise the bulge as observed
in models, and to place the mixed component bulge scenario in the general
context of external galaxies. When writing this review, we considered the
perspectives of researchers working with the Milky Way and researchers working
with external galaxies. It is an attempt to approach both communities for a
