The role of retailer's performance in optimal wholesale price discount policies
The main goal of this paper is to model the effects of wholesale price control on manufacturer’s profit, taking explicitly into account
the retailer’s sales motivation and performance. We consider a stylized distribution channel where a manufacturer sells a single kind of
good to a single retailer. Wholesale price discounts are assumed to increase the retailer’s motivation thus improving sales. We study the
manufacturer’s profit maximization problem as an optimal control model where the manufacturer’s control is the discount on wholesale
price and retailer’s motivation is one of the state variables. In particular in the paper we prove that an increasing discount policy is optimal
for the manufacturer when the retailer is not efficient while efficient retailers may require to decrease the trade discounts at the end of
the selling period. Computational experiments point out how the discount on wholesale price passed by the retailer to the market (passthrough)
influences the optimal profit of the manufacturer
Chemical Composition of Woody Species at Browsed Caatinga under Different Forage Allowance
Native rangelands are essential for Brazilian livestock production in the northeast Caatinga because they are abundant and inexpensive. Greater knowledge of nutritive values of these native plants is a needed because they fit well in prevailing edapho-climatic conditions. The chemical composition of plants, however, may differ according to ontogeny, elevation, soil, climate, plant community and human actions. Caatinga plants usually have high crude protein (CP) although some of this is fiber-bound (Santos et al., 2009). Browse can therefore become a key livestock diet component.
Condensed tannins (CT) in browse can provide benefits, including anthelmintic activity greater amino acid absorption, synthesis of microbiological protein and reduction in methane emission when consumed at 20 to 50 g kg-1 dry matter (DM) (Littlefield et al., 2011; Muir, 2011). Above those levels, animals may suffer negative consequences because of the strong linkage with enzymes, metal ions and carbohydrates although browsers can neutralize CT via salivary proline (Naumann et al., 2013). The objective of this study was to estimate the chemical composition of commonly browsed Caatinga woody species in four forage allowances

Comparison of post-exercise hypotension responses in Paralympic powerlifting athletes after completing two bench press training intensities.
Background and objective: Post-exercise hypotension, the reduction of blood pressure after a bout of exercise, is of great clinical relevance. Resistance exercise training is considered an important contribution to exercise training programs for hypertensive individuals and athletes. In this context, post-exercise hypotension could be clinically relevant because it would maintain blood pressure of hypertensive individuals transiently at lower levels during day-time intervals, when blood pressure is typically at its highest levels. The aim of this study was to compare the post-exercise cardiovascular effects on Paralympic powerlifting athletes of two typical high-intensity resistance-training sessions, using either five sets of five bench press repetitions at 90% 1 repetition maximum (1RM) or five sets of three bench press repetitions at 95% 1RM. Materials and Methods: Ten national-level Paralympic weightlifting athletes (age: 26.1 ± 6.9 years; body mass: 76.8 ± 17.4 kg) completed the two resistance-training sessions, one week apart, in a random order. Results: Compared with baseline values, a reduction of 5–9% in systolic blood pressure was observed after 90% and 95% of 1RM at 20–50 min post-exercise. Furthermore, myocardial oxygen volume and double product were only significantly increased immediately after and 5 min post-exercise, while the heart rate was significantly elevated after the resistance training but decreased to baseline level by 50 min after training for both training conditions. Conclusions: A hypotensive response can be expected in elite Paralympic powerlifting athletes after typical high-intensity type resistance-training sessions.publishedVersio

Leishmanicidal activity of fractions rich in aporphine alkaloids from amazonian unonopsis species
In vitro evaluation of alkaloidal fractions of twigs, barks and leaves from two Unonopsis species, Unonopsis guatterioides R.E. Fr. and Unonopsis duckei R.E. Fr., Annonaceae, against promastigote forms of Leishmania amazonensis revealed these species as sources of substances with promising leishmanicidal potential. All alkaloidal fractions from twigs, barks and leaves of U. guatterioides were classified as highly active, with IC50 1.07, 1.90, and 2.79 mg/mL, respectively. Only the alkaloidal fraction from the twigs of U. duckei was classified as inactive2261368137
