_______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe goal of this article is to present and discuss an event occurred in a higher education environment, when a student, having studied Pedagogy of the Oppressed (Paulo Freire), explicitly demands to be oppressed by the professor. The episode, recorded in field notes, is analyzed from the perspective of the concepts of limit-situations and untested feasibility, both by Paulo Freire (1992), and Bourdieu’s (1983) concept of habitus. The concept of habitus is employed in the text in a heuristic perspective, being expanded and qualified as professorial habitus, as defined in Silva (2003). The text concludes that Freire’s thought should be adopted as a utopia sustained by the professorial habitus, expressing the negation of the fugacious or of fleeting dissatisfaction and associated with a collective movement for overcoming the state of things and dehumanized conditions of existence

Internet Banking is a platform that works to satisfy the needs of all users who are used to using this type of service. In a very general way, this entire banking service was born around basic functionalities such as the case of making a transfer, making a deposit, checking the account, making a withdrawal, changing personal data, processing salaries to employees by the entity employer, among other activities. However, to carry out this work, it is necessary to analyse the User Stories that were proposed for the implementation of the web app; to know the technologies that will be integrated into the site, such as React JS and JavaScript. Even so, for this development, it is also necessary to know agile methodologies such as Scrum, which was one of the methodologies used to organize the team. Thus, in developing this report and project, it is intended to demonstrate the technologies, tools and methodologies that satisfy the entire implementation of this project, being also possible to help the client to overcome barriers such as service queues and offer an online platform above all agile, easy to handle, safe and that meets the needs of those who use it

Using AFM to study erythrocytes’ biophysical properties on Stroke and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Stroke is the most common cause of death worldwide. It is associated with high fibrinogen levels in plasma. Fibrinogen promotes clot formation, which in some situations can promote venous thromboembolism. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating and fatal neurodegenerative disease, leading to severe respiratory insufficiency and hypoxia. The main goals of this study were: (i) to study the influence of fibrinogen on erythrocytes adhesion in stroke patients; and, (ii) to evaluate morphological and elasticity changes on erythrocytes from ALS patients. Human blood samples from stroke and ALS patients were analysed and compared with healthy donors (control). Samples were analysed by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and through haemorheological parameters. AFM was used to measure fibrinogen-erythrocyte and erythrocyte-erythrocyte interactions, as well as erythrocyte stiffness and morphology. Erythrocyte membrane fluidity and zeta-potential were also assessed on ALS. Erythrocytes from stroke patients are less deformable and have more propensity to aggregate. Fibrinogen-erythrocytes interactions on stroke are stronger than for the control group. They also have an increased concentration of ´ fibrinogen variant. These changes could be associated with high risk of cardiovascular events and a worst prognostic of the disease. Erythrocytes from ALS patients are more capable to deform and present morphological changes. Changes in erythrocytes physical-chemical and electrical properties and on their membrane organization were also observed. These findings could help to consider the fibrinogen-erythrocyte binding as a new cardiovascular risk factor for stroke disease. Understanding the role of fibrinogen on erythrocyte aggregation may be relevant for potential future drug interventions to reduce aggregation and enhance microcirculatory flow conditions. Fibrinogen in ALS disease could promote venous thrombotic events. In the future, finding a molecular biomarker of early respiratory dysfunction in ALS disease that could comprise prognostic value will be essential

The bioethics of genome editing in livestock

Recently, a host of genome editing technologies have emerged that can edit the genome with progressively increasing efficiency and ease of use. These technologies are based on the use of sequence-specific engineered nucleases, like zinc finger nucleases (ZFN), meganucleases and transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALEN). Genome editing has been revolutionized, in recent years, with the emergence of clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and associated protein 9 (Cas9). Consequently, there have been new applications of these genome editing technologies. These genome editing technologies have a huge range of possible applications in livestock welfare, health, productivity, disease resistance, enhance food to human health. These technologies and their applications have sparked both enthusiasm and worry, raising new questions on ethics and governance and generating many debates all over the world. The present work has, therefore, aimed to analyse the ethical issues raised through genome editing applications in livestock and how bioethics could contribute to the search for recommendations in scientific research in the area of genome editing. For this, a literature review based on methodology Preferred Report Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes (PRISMA) was made, in order to understand the state of the art. Issues like ethics, legal and social implications were raised. However, it seems necessary to carry out a revision of the regulatory framework or a boundary definition in order to better clarify the purpose and the limits of the use of this technology. In addition, defining a risk assessment and management procedure, as well as the public acceptance, are important factors for a higher integration of genome editing in our society. In conclusion, genome editing in livestock for all the applied purposes must be considered with prudence and caution until the risks have been rigorously characterised and answered, as well as the public has been properly informed and consulted.Têm vindo a surgir novas tecnologias de edição de genoma que têm a capacidade de editar o genoma com uma grande eficiência e facilidade.

The present paper considers and analyzes the role of management and entrepreneurship on the firm and region sustainability. This relation was explored in terms of managers’ behaviour related to three aspects of sustainable development, namely, economic, social and environmental.Through a questionnaire survey of 251 micro, small and medium firms in Vale do Sousa region located in the Northern Portugal, it was discovered that, contrary to what most of literature presents, managers are putting in first place the environmental aspect of sustainability, followed by the social aspect, and the economic as the last one. These results lead to a characterization of firms as being sustainable, but with a risk-averse and non innovative behaviour on the part of the firms’ management.small firms, entrepreneurship, sustainability
