    Coliform Distribution Around The Antang Landfill Soil Makassar City, South Sulawesi

    Tamangapa Antang landfill in its operation was conducted by open dumping, which potentially contaminate the surrounding soil. Research has been conducted on the distribution of Coliform bacteria as soil contaminants around Antang Landfill in Makassar City. This research aimed to determine to what extent the distribution of Coliform bacteria contaminate the soil around Antang Landfill. The sampling was divided into 4 Lines, 2 Lines were in the direction of the groundwater flow (Line A and Line C) and 2 Lines were perpendicular to the groundwater flow (Line B and Line D), at the depth of 0 to 10 cm, 10 to 20 cm and 20 to 30 cm. Samples were analyzed using Nutrient Agar and Biochemical Test method. The results show that Coliform Bacteria have spread vertically on Topsoil. The highest abundance population of Coliform bacteria was detected in Line B (240 cfu/gr) at 10 to 20 cm depth, Line D (210 cfu/gr) at 0 to 10 cm depth, Line A (110 cfu/gr) at 10 to 20 cm depth and Line B (23 cfu/gr) at 0 to 10 cm depth. The abundance of Coliform bacteria in the soil is very potential to contaminate the bio-soil environment, plants, damage the soil surface and structure around the Antang Landfill

    Sero-prevalance of anti-R7V antibody in HIV infected patients in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria

    Studies in some parts of the world have shown that Anti-R7V antibodies, which neutralize 100% of the different variant’s panel (targeted against a beta2-microglobulin epitope acquired when the virus is released by budding) in vitro, are found in 30 to 50% of naïve HIV positive patients, but even more in socalled “long-term survivor’’ patients with a close to 90% correlation. The seroprevalence of Anti-R7V antibody was therefore investigated in HIV patients attending clinic within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and compared with HIV negative patients. Correlation between the presence of the antibody and the clinical status of patients was also investigated. The HIV positive patients were categorized intodrug naïve and drug experienced subjects and their Anti-R7V antibody together with CD4 counts were determined using Anti-R7V ELISA kits and BD FACS count, respectively. About 47.2% of the HIVinfected patients tested positive for the Anti-R7V antibody while 25.2% were negative for this antibody. Patients with Anti-R7V antibody had a mean CD4 count (355 ± 19.2) significantly (P < 0.05) higher than that of Anti-R7V antibody negative patients (215 ± 42.6). Also it was observed that Anti-R7V antibody was significantly (P < 0.05) lower in drug experienced patients as compared to drug naïve patients. The significance of these findings is discussed. It was concluded that Anti-R7V antibody may be a naturalimmunity against HIV-infection in drug naïve HIV patients and that the synthesis and release of this antibody may decrease with ARD treatment

    Ewald methods for inverse power-law interactions in tridimensional and quasi-two dimensional systems

    In this paper, we derive the Ewald method for inverse power-law interactions in quasi-two dimensional systems. The derivation is done by using two different analytical methods. The first uses the Parry's limit, that considers the Ewald methods for quasi-two dimensional systems as a limit of the Ewald methods for tridimensional systems, the second uses Poisson-Jacobi identities for lattice sums. Taking into account the equivalence of both derivations, we obtain a new analytical Fourier transform intregral involving incomplete gamma function. Energies of the generalized restrictive primitive model of electrolytes (η\eta-RPM) and of the generalized one component plasma model (η\eta-OCP) are given for the tridimensional, quasi-two dimensional and monolayers systems.     Functionalized Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube-Reinforced Epoxy-Composites: Electrical And Mechanical Characterization

    Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) got great attention because of their interesting physical and mechanical properties. Due to these interesting properties observed at the nanoscale have motivated scientific community to utilize CNTs as reinforcement in composite materials. In the present study, different CNTs and epoxy nano-composites with different wt% (1, 2, 3, and 4%) of f-MWCNTs were prepared and their surface morphology and orientation has been investigated in detail. Further, the surface investigation, electrical and mechanical tests were carried out on CNTs-filled and unfilled epoxy at maximum sonication time 30 minute to identify the loading effect on the properties of the materials. Experimental results depicts well dispersion of f-MWCNTs, significant improvement that the resistivity of pure epoxy decreased from 108 .m to average value 103 .m with 1, 2, 3, and 4wt% f-MWCNTs. The 4.5wt% CNTs/epoxy was attributed to poor dispersion of f-MWCNTs in the nanocomposte. The hardness of nanocomposite loading 1, 2, 3, 4wt% of CNTs, increased 20.7%, 23.02%, 25.62%, 29.09% respectively as compared to pure epoxy. We believe that our strategy for obtaining CNT–reinforced epoxy nanocomposites is a very promising technology and will open a new doors in fields of aviation, aerospace, marine and sporting goods

    Impact of Starvation, Refeeding of Freshwater Fish Channa punctatus Via Comparatively Protein Level Investigation on Target Tissues

    Using Lowry\u27s approach, the current study investigated how starvation and refeeding affected the amount of protein in various tissues of the freshwater fish Channa panctatus (1951). The fish were categorised into two groups, the first group had normal feedings, while the second was denied food for periods of 7, 14, 21, and 28 days respectively. Notably, the previously starved fish were fed again. Fish show a significant rise in protein levels relative to normal following feeding because prolonged starvation causes a steady drop in tissue protein levels

    Synchronization is the first operation in a digital base band receiver. The accuracy of the synchronizer shapes up the performance of the base band receiver. Synchronization is broadly divided into Carrier Frequency and Phase Synchronization, Symbol Timing and Frame Synchronization. If number of false detections in frame synchronization are high then large amount of power is wasted for processing unwanted packets. In this paper, we are proposing a packet detection and transmission system with differential encoding for low power IoT networks which reduces the number of false packet detections compared to existing preamble detection techniques. The proposed frame synchronization method decides packet is valid or not by cross correlating received packet with fixed preamble sequence and determine its boundaries. The proposed system is analyzed with smart metering power data and corresponding probabilities of packet missing and false detection, power consumption and bit error rate are analyzed. At 3 dB SNR the number of false detections are reduced by 170 compared to conventional correlation method thereby saving 15.8 % of processing power at receiver
