The possibility of application of Sørensen and Renkonen indexes in the study of winter avifauna in small plots of the urban green areas

Quantitative studies of winter avifauna (1999/2000) were conducted in three fragments of urban green areas in central Poland. Two observers independently controlled three plots six times, doing two subsequent counts (10 ha/1.5 hour) on the same day. All visits that were carried out in the same plot by the same observer during the same time of day were defined as a "survey". Differences between maximum and minimum values of similarity in species composition (Sørensen index - QS) and dominance structures (Renkonen index - Re) between two plots during all "surveys" ranged from 8.4 to 11.9% (QS) and from 11.8 to 22.4% (Re). Coefficients of variation (CV) for values of Sørensen and Renkonen indexes obtained for similarity of winter avifauna between two plots during all "surveys" ranged from 4.9 to 7.6% (QS) and from 8.9 to 14.1% (Re). Significant differences were found in one case between values of similarity in species composition (QS) obtained by two observers between two different plots (Mann-Whitney test, U = 0.0, n = 8, P = 0.02). The results show that there is no possibility to estimate clearly the similarity of dominance structure (Re) and, to a lesser degree, species composition (QS) of winter avifauna between two small fragments of the urban green areas

Flexible Organization of Repositories for Provisioning Cloud Infrastructures

The paper proposes an architecture of a system automating the provisioning process of cloud computing infrastructures. Its structure and components are specified, based on an analysis of three types of requirements: infrastructure providers, service providers and end users. These considerations have led us to formulate a new infrastructural model, offered to end users as a collection of Virtual Machines (VM) connected by a dedicated Virtual Private Network (VPN) with QoS guarantees. The role of repositories in cloud provisioning systems is specified along with the relevant data acquisition processes. The applicability of the proposed system is illustrated by practical usage scenarios

The attempts of maintaining the USSR not only resulted in failure, but even accelerated the process of its collapse. That was determined by the imperial structure and functioning system of the Soviet state. Along with the initiation of perestroika even the strict executives were conscious that the party had been losing the initiative to lead the nation. The question arose: to continue the policy or to return to the current methods? The continuation was opted for with the maintenance of system-forming elements characteristic for the Soviet state. The conclusion of a new union treaty was to be a solution. etween 1990 and 1991, the y ear of the d issolution, five d rafts h ad been published. The changes were to concern, among others, the catalogue of the treaty entities and mechanisms of implementation of their interests, as well as economic functioning of the new union and entities. With existing variety of nations, nationalities and peoples, decentralizing actions were initiated all over the country. They weakened the national and state structure and created new conflicts. White stork (Ciconia ciconia) in the former District of Kutno in 1984 and 1985

The White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) bred in the former district of Kutno in 1985 at a density of 5.33 pairs/100 km 2. The mean number of nestlings per nest occupied by a pair was 2.24 and the mean number of nestlings per nest with nestlings was 2.73. 93% of the nests were situated on trees (mainly poplar trees) and 92% were up to 100 m from buildings. Storks nesting in the eastern part of the former Kutno district show a regular distribution of nests, while those from the western part a contagious one. Virtual Grid - New Paradigm of System Resources Dynamic Organization

This paper describes the model and software tools for virtualization of the Grid execution environment. The basic assumption of this study is that Virtual Grid (VG) is constructed dynamically according to application requirements with virtualized computational and communication resources. A VG instance is dynamically created for each application and its initial configuration can be further modified during runtime to satisfy the requested level of resource usage and to maintain the quality of service indexes at agreed-upon values. A VG model that takes into account this approach has been proposed and analyzed in the context of Grid-related technology
