    Material olahan bonggol jagung berbentuk balok memiliki karakteristik yang dapat dijadikan potensi sebagai bahan baku non-konvensional untuk pembuatan produk fungsional. Penelitian yang dilakukan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi lebih lanjut dari modul bonggol jagung berbentuk balok yang dapat diterapkan sebagai fungsi dari tableware. Adapun cara untuk mengetahuinya adalah dengan melakukan menerapkan beberapa teknik yang dapat mengekspos modul olahan bonggol jagung, sehingga nantinya menghasilkan gagasan yang dapat dimanfaatkan, terutama dari segi unsur visual berupa pemanfaatan tekstur pada modul bonggol jagung, sehingga menjadi suatu kebaruan untuk rancangan produk fungsional. Adapun produk yang diusungkan untuk penggunaan material olahan bonggol jagung adalah tableware. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah munculnya gagasan terkait pemanfaatan unsur visual berupa tekstur modul dengan penerapan teknik yang berbeda yang dapat menjadi kebaruan yang tepat untuk diterapkan pada perancangan tableware

    Dental laser technologies are one of the most rapidly developing areas in the modern technology. When the laser was discovered in the 1960s, it was classified as a solution in search of a problem, and today, laser technology is applied in many different areas. It basically remained a field of research. Typically in the most frequent dental surgery, the caries therapy was frequently compared to most types of lasers; the conventional mechanical drills are still superior, particularly CW or long-pulse lasers. Only laser systems capable of providing ultrashort pulses might be an alternative to mechanical drills. The number of laser applications is enormous, and it is not possible to explain all of them here. In this chapter, the development of suitable application units for laser radiation and other topics of interest in dentistry including laser treatment of soft tissue as well as laser welding of dental bridges and dentures are discussed. In some of these areas, research has been very successful. However, many clinical studies and extensive engineering effort still remain to be done in order to achieve satisfactory results

    Hepatoprotective Effects of Orthosiphon stamineus Extract on Thioacetamide-Induced Liver Cirrhosis in Rats

    Orthosiphon stamineus as medicinal plant is commonly used in Malaysia for treatment of hepatitis and jaundice; in this study, the ethanol extracts were applied to evaluate the hepatoprotective effects in a thioacetamide-induced hepatotoxic model in Sprague Dawley rats. Five groups of adult rats were arranged as follows: Group 1 (normal control group), Group 2 Thioacetamide (TAA) as positive control (hepatotoxic group), Group 3 Silymarin as a well-known standard drug (hepatoprotective group), and Groups 4 and 5 as high and low dose (treatment groups). After 60-day treatment, all rats were sacrificed. The hepatotoxic group showed a coarse granulation on the liver surface when compared to the smooth aspect observed on the liver surface of the other groups. Histopathological study confirmed the result; moreover, there was a significant increase in serum liver biochemical parameters (ALT, AST, ALP, and Bilirubin) and the level of liver Malondialdehyde (MDA), accompanied by a significant decrease in the level of total protein and Albumin in the TAA control group when compared with that of the normal group. The high-dose treatment group (200 mg/kg) significantly restored the elevated liver function enzymes near to normal. This study revealed that 200 mg/kg extracts of O. stamineus exerted a hepatoprotective effect

    The role of biomarkers in diagnosis of COVID-19 - A systematic review.

    AIMS:As of the 28th April 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has infiltrated over 200 countries and affected over three million confirmed people. We review different biomarkers to evaluate if they are able to predict clinical outcomes and correlate with the severity of COVID-19 disease. METHODS:A systematic review of the literature was carried out to identify relevant articles using six different databases. Keywords to refine the search included 'COVID-19', 'SARS-CoV2', 'Biomarkers', among others. Only studies which reported data on pre-defined outcomes were included. KEY FINDINGS:Thirty-four relevant articles were identified which reviewed the following biomarkers: C-reactive protein, serum amyloid A, interleukin-6, lactate dehydrogenase, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, D-dimer, cardiac troponin, renal biomarkers, lymphocytes and platelet count. Of these, all but two, showed significantly higher levels in patients with severe complications of COVID-19 infection compared to their non-severe counterparts. Lymphocytes and platelet count showed significantly lower levels in severe patients compared to non-severe patients. SIGNIFICANCE:Although research is still in its early stages, the discovery of how different biomarkers behave during the course of the disease could help clinicians in identifying severe disease earlier and subsequently improve prognosis. Nevertheless, we urge for more research across the globe to corroborate these findings

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Analisis Pemanfaatan Teknologi pada Penerimaan Zakat, Infak, dan Sedekah pada Lembaga Amil Zakat Yayasan Insan Madani Jambi. Penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian Kualitatif deskriptif dengan mengumpulkan data melalui Wawancara, Observasi, serta Dokumentasi sebagai pelengkap data. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan penelitian langsung dilapangan serta wawancara langsung dengan Pihak Lembaga Amil Zakat serta Masyarakat yang berdomisili di Jambi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan memanfaatkan teknologi untuk pembayaran Zakat, infak, dan sedekah yang dilakukan oleh Lembaga Amil Zakat Yayasan Insan Madani Jambi untuk sekarang masih belum efektif. Bisa dilihat dari pertumbuhan penerimaan zakat, infak, dan sedekah yang hanya meningkat di tahun 2019 dan ditahun 2020 hingga 2022 terjadi penurun yang lumayan drastis. Hal ini disebabkan karena kurangnya minat masyarakat untuk mendapatkan informasi dan kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat pada menggunakan teknologi serta kurangnya kesadaran pada masyarakat untuk berkewajiban membayar zakat

    The aim of this research is to describe the analysis of student difficulties and the factors causing the difficulties experienced by students in solving long unit mathematics story problems for class III elementary school. This research uses qualitative descriptive research. The research subjects were three third grade elementary school students who were identified as having difficulty in solving story problems. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, documentation and tests. The results of this research are that. Students experience difficulties, especially in reading comprehension, process skills, and encoding errors. The causal factors come from internal and external factors of students. For internal factors, such as students not understanding the questions, students not being careful enough, students not being used to story problems, and students not having enough practice in working on story problems. External factors, such as inappropriate methods, models, teaching aids and learning media used in learning, lack of motivation from the environment around students, and too much influence from gadgets

    Design of a facility layout model in hybrid cellular manufacturing systems under variable demand

    Changes in demand, as one of the issues of volatile manufacturing systems, decline the performance of manufacturing systems over the time; especially, it degrades the effectiveness of layout in manufacturing systems. Although the layout of the arrangement of facilities on the shop floor play a significant role in the effectiveness of manufacturing systems, it has not absorbed the attention of researchers in hybrid manufacturing systems. In this paper, a new mathematical model for facility layout in a hybrid cellular manufacturing system has been proposed, which considers demand varying over the planning horizon. The model minimises the material handling cost. To solve the model, a simulated annealing algorithm from literature has been improved. The comparison of results between two algorithms shows the superiority of the improved algorithm in both the quality of solutions and computational time
