Les pantalles de cristall líquid són un element molt comú com a visualitzador (display) en els dispositius actuals de l'electrònica de consum. Programmable axial apodizing and hyperresolving amplitude filters with a liquid-crystal spatial light modulator

Amplitude-transmitting filters for apodizing and hyperresolving applications can be easily implemented by use of a two-dimensional programmable liquid-crystal spatial light modulator operating in a transmission-only mode. Experimental results are in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions. This approach can permit the analysis of various filter designs and can allow the filters to be changed rapidly to modify the response of an optical system

Status of women in physics in Spain

We describe measures adopted by the Spanish government to attain gender equality and discuss the status of women in the scientific field. Finally, we present statistical data updated from the last IUPAP Women in Physics Conference in 2005. The percentage of women at various staff levels at universities and at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) remains constant (approximately 32%). At CSIC, however, an increase in the number of available posts has led to an increase in the number of women in top positions. Integration in the Fourier domain for restoration of a function from its slope : comparison of four methods

Altres ajuts: European Community project CTB556-01-4175.In some measurement techniques the profile, f(x), of a function should be obtained from the data on measured slope f'(x) by integration. The slope is measured in a given set of points, and from these data we should obtain the profile with the highest possible accuracy. Most frequently, the integration is carried out by numerical integration methods [Press et al., Numerical Recipes: The Art of Scientific Computing (Cambridge U. Press, Cambridge, 1987)] that assume different kinds of polynomial approximation of data between sampling points. We propose the integration of the function in the Fourier domain, by which the most-accurate interpolation is automatically carried out. Selective IgA deficiency and presumptive polyclonal spike in the beta fraction in a dog with leishmaniosis

A 1-year-old, entire, crossbred, female dog examined for apathy, lethargy, unilateral nosebleed of 2-month duration and the presence of symmetrical ulcerative dermatitis (small ulcers covered by a haemorrhagic crust and surrounded by alopecia on the tip of the ear pinna). Laboratory alterations included anaemia and hyperglobulinemia with a presumptive polyclonal spike in the beta fraction. High antibody levels to Leishmania infantum were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. An anti-Leishmania therapeutic protocol was established and a reduction of the anti-Leishmania antibodies was detected by an end point sera dilution enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay during the first weeks of therapeutic protocol, while C-reactive protein concentration was reduced during the period of time when meglumine antimoniate was administered. A good clinical response to the treatment was detected after initiating the anti-Leishmania treatment. Quantitative serology is useful in the short-term, because using a two-fold serial dilution technique correlates with the clinical response. © 2022 British Veterinary Association

Proliferative papulo-nodular glossitis due to <i>Leishmania infantum</i> in a dog

Canine leishmaniosis, caused by the protozoan Leishmania infantum, is an endemic vector‐borne disease in Europe. From a diagnostic point of view, the disease can sometimes be a real challenge for the clinician, due to the variability of clinical presentations in a sick dog. These clinical signs can be classified, based on the frequency of presentation, in typical and atypical signs. In dogs is common to find different clinical presentations of cutaneous disease and systemic involvement, while clinical presentations in mucosa are not so common. A 6‐year‐old, entire, male German shepherd crossbred dog was examined for evident nodular lesions on the tongue. The most important laboratory alteration detected was hyperglobulinemia with an increase in the gamma fraction classified as polyclonal gammopathy. High anti‐Leishmania antibodies were detected by ELISA. Tongue biopsy samples were obtained from the lesions with the presence of a diffuse inflammatory infiltrate characterised by macrophages and neutrophils with no compatible forms of Leishmania parasites. However, the presence of Leishmania amastigotes was confirmed by specific immunohistochemistry. A good clinical response to the anti‐Leishmania based on meglumine antimoniate and allopurinol was observed after meglumine antimoniate administration. Simple expressions for performance parameters of complex filters, with applications to super-Gaussian phase filters

To study the three-dimensional (3-D) behavior produced by complex filters, we have extended the expressions for the axial and the transverse gain to the case in which the best image plane is not near the paraxial focus. Super-Gaussian phase filters are proposed to control the 3-D image response of an optical system. Super-Gaussian phase filters depend on several parameters that modify the shape of the phase filter, producing tunable control of the 3-D response of the optical system. The filters are capable of producing a wide range of optical effects: transverse superresolution with high depth of focus, 3-D superresolution, and transverse apodization with different axial responses

Mejora de la alimentación y cumplimiento del tratamiento en usuarios del Proyecto Hombre

RESUMEN -Introducción: en la intervención de drogodependencias, entendemos la enfermedad como una ruptura del equilibrio biopsicosocial. Este fenómeno multifactorial está formado por características individuales de la persona, su contexto social primario (pareja y familia) y su nivel cultural y socioeconómico. Estas características influyen en sus hábitos alimenticios y en el cumplimiento eficaz de su tratamiento. -Objetivo: elaborar un programa de salud para la mejora de los hábitos alimenticios y cumplimiento del tratamiento farmacológico de personas en tratamiento sustitutivo de opiáceos en el Proyecto Hombre de la ciudad de Zaragoza. -Metodología: se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica de los cinco últimos años acerca de pacientes en tratamiento sustitutivo de opiáceos y del trabajo de enfermería en la implementación de un programa de salud. -Resultados: en Aragón las situaciones de drogodependencia y adicciones se abordan desde el II Plan Autonómico sobre Drogodependencias y Adicciones. El programa de salud implementado, aumentaría la calidad de vida, nivel de salud y la reducción de la mortalidad prematura. -Conclusiones: el trabajo de la enfermería ante la drogodependencia es cada vez más amplio. Hablamos de intervenciones en materia de promoción de la salud y la prevención enfocada desde una perspectiva multifactorial de adicciones. Un programa que persigue la deshabituación de opiáceos, no solo debe tratar el cumplimiento de tratamiento farmacológico sino que además, debe trabajar hábitos tan básicos como la alimentación.<br /
