Methodology in Visual Poetics

The insertion of artists in the research in Visual Poetics in different Visual Arts postgraduate programs promotes a process of blending of these agents’ role. The combination of artist and researcher presents a need to build adequate methodologies to the objectives of this study field. To this construction were used different elements: the fundamental work of Marcel Duchamp, the concept of performance and the critical discussion on the theme and thesis and dissertations done by artists/authors who proposed inciting methodologies in post-graduation in the visual poetics’ field

Performance na contemporaneidade

The article analyses contemporary art projects to identify strategies of incorporation, shifting and participation of the visitors that lead to a process of expansion of the performance art. The study proposes terms to define such strategies as: animated performance, performatic ready-made, fictional agent performance, dynamics and exchanges between states of performance, intimate performance and internal performance.Analisam-se aqui projetos de arte contemporânea, identificando estratégias de incorporação, deslocamento e participação do público que remetem a uma ampliação da arte da performance. Metodologias em Poéticas Visuais

A inserção de artistas na linha de pesquisa em Poéticas Visuais em diferentes programas de pós-graduação em artes visuais promove um processo de hibridização do papel desses atores. A combinação do artista e do pesquisador apresenta uma necessidade de construir metodologias adequadas aos objetivos desse campo de estudos. Para essa construção foram utilizados diferentes elementos: a fundante obra de Marcel Duchamp, o conceito de performatividade e a discussão crítica sobre o tema e teses e dissertações de artistas/autores que propuseram instigantes metodologias em pós-graduações na área de Poéticas Visuais

Plasma Panel Sensors for Particle and Beam Detection

The plasma panel sensor (PPS) is an inherently digital, high gain, novel variant of micropattern gas detectors inspired by many operational and fabrication principles common to plasma display panels (PDPs). The PPS is comprised of a dense array of small, plasma discharge, gas cells within a hermetically-sealed glass panel, and is assembled from non-reactive, intrinsically radiation-hard materials such as glass substrates, metal electrodes and mostly inert gas mixtures. We are developing the technology to fabricate these devices with very low mass and small thickness, using gas gaps of at least a few hundred micrometers. Our tests with these devices demonstrate a spatial resolution of about 1 mm. We intend to make PPS devices with much smaller cells and the potential for much finer position resolutions. Our PPS tests also show response times of several nanoseconds. We report here our results in detecting betas, cosmic-ray muons, and our first proton beam tests.Comment: 2012 IEEE NS
