In “The Postmodern Condition”, F. T. Lyotard argues that the logos is a myth with the concept of “sunset of metanarrative” and that the world can only be understood as a fictional story. Postmodernist aesthetics refers to this concept and puts forward the idea that the fictitiousness of a character in a literary work fictionizes its state and the events in which he participates. In this regard, in the context of the literary work, real space and characters are fictitious. Fictionality realizes in different ways, and we can see this in the analysis of British writer Jasper Fforde’s novels “Thursday Next”.In “The Postmodern Condition”, F. T. Get PDF
PurposeCaustic agent ingestion may produce corrosive lesions that can extend beyond adjacent organs. We report three cases of aortoesophageal fistulas (AEF) after caustic ingestion that were diagnosed by autopsy.ResultsAEF is a fatal complication that should be suspected in any patient with caustic ingestion who presents with gastrointestinal bleeding. A high index of suspicion, early recognition by gastrointestinal endoscopy, computed tomography scan, and aortography are important to improve the outcome

    Get PDF
Determining the optimal inventory control and selling price for deteriorating items is of great significance. In this paper, a joint pricing and inventory control model for deteriorating items with price- and time-dependent demand rate and time-dependent deteriorating rate with partial backlogging is considered. The objective is to determine the optimal price, the replenishment time, and economic order quantity such that the total profit per unit time is maximized. After modeling the problem, an algorithm is proposed to solve the resulted problem. We also prove that the problem statement is concave function and the optimal solution is indeed global

    Get PDF
This thesis describes the causative and the passive constructions of the Azerbaijani and English languages. The functions of the causatives and passives in the sentences and their similarities and differences are described comparatively in Azerbaijani and English. In Azerbaijani the causative and the passive verbs are used in different structures in the sentences. They are derived by adding affixes to transitive and intransitive verbs. In English, affixes are not used to derive the passive and causative forms of the verbs. They are used in different forms in the sentences. These different features and constructions are described from a comparative perspective

AbstractIn today's world, professionals with little or no knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) have a much more difficult task before them in comparison to co-workers at the same level but with a reasonable knowledge of ICT. To insure an effective competitive status in educational organizations, and universities there is a need to improve the ability of such organizations to improve consistently their ICT capabilities. The main goals of the research have been to determine the level of Familiarity and Usage of university college of Agriculture and Natural resources, University of Tehran's staff members (Faculty and Experts). A researcher's made questionnaire was used. The sample population based on Cochran's formula has been 124 staff members and the reliability of the questionnaire was approved by experts’ opinion and the validity was approved by calculating the Cronbach's alpha which has been 0.95. The results indicated that the areas of familiarity of most of the members was more of public websites, for example search engines such as Yahoo and Google, and largely used software like Microsoft Office Word, and the University of Tehran's e-office system. There was a positive relationship between the level of ICT usage and field of education and academic ranking, and negatively related to work experience, and there was no correlation to age. The results of mean analysis showed a difference between the amount of usage of and familiarity with ICT between men and women and the variance analysis results showed that the amount of familiarity with and usage of ICT is different between different levels of education, academic ranks and different types of employment. Regression analysis showed that the three variables of level of education, type of employment and age had a meaningful effect on the dependent variable of amount of familiarity with organizational ICT, and the three variables of familiarity, type of employment and gender had a meaningful effect on the dependent variable of the level of usage of organizational ICT. In general familiarity with organizational ICT is the most important factor effecting organization usage of ICT opportunities

Anketin oluşturulmasında Prof. Dr. Ali Çelik'in Halkın Hadis Bilgisi Ve Bilgi Kaynakları kitabında kullanılan anket ve dînî seviyenin tespitinde ise Türkiye Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığının Ve Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu (TÜİK)'in birlikte gerçekleştirdiği Türkiyede Dînî Hayat Araştırması anket çalışmasında kullanılan dindarlık ölçeği yönlendirici olmuştur. Anketin değerlendirilmesi zamanı toplam 400 anket Spss programında incelenmiştir. Analiz esnasında frekans ve yüzde dağılımlarını içeren tanımlayıcı istatistikler sunulmuş, farkli iki grup arasındakı ilişkinin anlamlılık derecesini belirlemek için bağımsız grup t-test (Independent Samples t-test), daha fazla grupların karşılaştırılmasında ise tek yönlü varyans analizi (Oneway Anova) tekniği kullanılmıştır.Çalışmada gerçekleştirilen anket uygulamasından elde edilen sonuç, halkın hadise bakışının olumlu yönde olduğunu göstermiştir. This thesis examines the hadith studies and public view on hadith in Azarbaijan after the independence, with the thought it would be beneficial to determine the level of Hadith studies and education in Azarbaijan. In the first part of the thesis, the level of education in the Hadith programs under the Faculties of theology in Baku, the capital city of Azarbaijan, was identified. Background: to compare the shear bond strength of brackets with and without enamel etching. Material and Methods: In this study, 60 sound premolars were randomly divided into four different groups: 1- TXE group: Enamel etching + Transbond XT adhesive + Transbond XT composite. 2- TXS group: Transbond plus self-etch adhesive + Transbond XT composite. 3- PQ1E group: Enamel etching + PQ1 adhesive + Transbond XT composite. 4- PQ1 group: PQ1 adhesive + Transbond XT composite. The shear bond strengths of brackets were evaluated using universal testing machine at cross head speed of 0.5 mm/ min. The Adhesive Remnant Index (ARI) was also measured. One-way ANOVA, Tukey’s post hoc, Kruskal-wallis and Mann-Witney U test were used for data analysis. Results: There was a significant difference between etched and unetched groups respect to SBS and ARI ( P <0.05), however; no significant difference was observed between unetched group and self-etch adhesive group ( P > 0.05). The shear bond strength of PQ1 group was the least but in acceptable range and its ARI was less than other groups. Conclusions: PQ1 adhesive can be used for bracket bonding without enamel etching with adequate bond strength and minimal ARI

Background: Tamsulosin is an inhibitory factor of alpha-adrenergic receptors that is used for relieving of the clinical symptoms and management of acute urinary retention. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of tamsulosin on the endocrine axis and testicular tissue in adult male rats. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 30 adult male Wistar rats (weighing 250-300 gr) were divided into three groups: 1) control (received distilled water), 2) experimental 1 (received 0.2 mg/kg/day tamsulosin) and 3) experimental 2 (received 0.4 mg/kg/day tamsulosin) through oral gavage for 28 days. Serum hormones level and testicular histopathology were evaluated at the end of the experiment. Results: In this study, the testicular weight decreased significantly in the experimental groups compared to the control group. A significant decrease was seen in testicular weight (p = 0.004) and the number of Leydig cells in tamsulosin-treated groups (p = 0.012). Tamsulosin improved the hormone profile in experimental groups. Also, higher dose of tamsulosin significantly changed the number of Leydig, spermatogonia cells, the thickness of germinal layer, and the diameter of the seminiferous tubules. Conclusion: Results showed that using tamsulosin, possibly reduces the testosterone concentration through adrenergic axis system and in turn has destructive effects on proliferative activity of germ cells. Key words: Tamsulosin, Seminiferous tubules, Histopathology, Rat, Testis
