A Study of the Finite Flat Plate Problem Using Various Kinetic and Continuum Models
Abstract. The supersonic flow past a finite flat plate at zero angle of attack is considered. The Navier-Stokes equations, Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) statistical method and deterministic solving relaxation-type model kinetic equations using a high-order shock capturing scheme are used for numerical simulation of the problem. The results obtained with different approaches are compared and analyzed. The limits of continuum approach applicability as well as the accuracy of description based on model kinetic equations are studied
A mathematical model of the rear-trailed top harvester and an evaluation of its motion stability
Received: October 7th, 2021 ; Accepted: December 10th, 2021 ; Published: December 10th, 2021 ; Correspondence: [email protected] the quality of sugar beet harvesting to a great extent depends on the first
operation in the process, which involves cutting and harvesting sugar beet tops. This
technological process is performed with the use of either the haulm harvesting modules of beet
harvesters or top harvesting machines as separate agricultural implements, which are aggregated
with a tractor. At the same time, front-mounted harvesters are as widely used as trailed
asymmetric implements, in which case the aggregating tractor moves on the already harvested
area of the field. The purpose of this work is to determine the optimal design and kinematic
parameters that would improve the stability in the performance of the technological process of
harvesting sugar beet tops by means of developing the basic theory of the plane-parallel motion
performed by the rear-trailed asymmetric top harvester. As a result of the analytical study, an
equivalent scheme has been composed, on the basis of which a new computational mathematical
model has been developed for the plane-parallel motion of the asymmetric top harvester in the
horizontal plane on the assumption that the connection between the wheeled tractor and the
rear-trailed top harvester is made in the form of a cylindrical hinge joint. Using the results of
mathematical modelling, the system of linear second-order differential equations that determines
the transverse movement of the centre of mass of the aggregating wheeled tractor and the rotation
of its longitudinal symmetry axis by a certain angle about the said centre of mass as well as the
angle of deviation of the rear-trailed asymmetric top harvester from the longitudinal symmetry
axis of the tractor at an arbitrary instant of time has been obtained. The solving of the obtained
system of differential equations provides for determining the stability and controllability of the
motion performed by the asymmetric machine-tractor unit, when it performs the technological
process of harvesting sugar beet tops
Comparative characteristics of quality of life in patients, suffering locally-spread mammary gland cancer after conduction of regional and intravenous chemotherapy
Objective. Investigation of quality of life (QL) in patients, suffering inoperable forms (locally-spread) of mammary gland cancer (MGC), before and after conduction of neoadjuvant courses of systemic polychemotherapy (SPCHTH) and selective intraarterial polychemotherapy (SIAPCHTH) in combination with SPCHTH.
Маterials and methods. Complex treatment was conducted in 154 patients, suffering locally-spread MGC T4A-DN0-3M0 in a period 2000 -2017 yrs, on base of Donetsk Regional Antitumoral Centre and The University Clinic of Odessa National Medical University. All the patients were divided into two groups. Tо Group I (control) were included 65 patients, suffering inoperable forms of a locally-spread MGC, to whom as a neoadjuvant course a SPCHTH was conducted; and to the Group II (investigating) - 89 patients, suffering inoperable forms of locally-spread MGC, to whom a SIAPCHTH was conducted as a neoadjuvant course.
Results. Through the period of treatment a wave-like dynamics of the quality of life index was observed, which indicated a definite advantage of SIAPCHTH over SPCHTH. A limited statistically trustworthy difference in favor of regional polychemotherapy was formed between the Groups of patients in accordance to the quality of life index.
Conclusion. Investigation of quality of life constitutes a secure, informative and economic method of estimation of a patient state of health on the groupings and the individuals levels. In oncological investigations the QL assessment constitutes an important criterion of the treatment efficacy estimation and has a prognostic significance. Estimation of quality of life in clinical investigations improves the investigation quality itself
RILEM TC 247-DTA round robin test: carbonation and chloride penetration testing of alkali-activated concretes
Many standardised durability testing methods have been developed for Portland cement-based concretes, but require validation to determine whether they are also applicable to alkali-activated materials. To address this question, RILEM TC 247-DTA ‘Durability Testing of Alkali-Activated Materials’ carried out round robin testing of carbonation and chloride penetration test methods, applied to five different alkali-activated concretes based on fly ash, blast furnace slag or metakaolin. The methods appeared overall to demonstrate an intrinsic precision comparable to their precision when applied to conventional concretes. The ranking of test outcomes for pairs of concretes of similar binder chemistry was satisfactory, but rankings were not always reliable when comparing alkali-activated concretes based on different precursors. Accelerated carbonation testing gave similar results for fly ash-based and blast furnace slag-based alkali-activated concretes, whereas natural carbonation testing did not. Carbonation of concrete specimens was observed to have occurred already during curing, which has implications for extrapolation of carbonation testing results to longer service life periods. Accelerated chloride penetration testing according to NT BUILD 443 ranked the tested concretes consistently, while this was not the case for the rapid chloride migration test. Both of these chloride penetration testing methods exhibited comparatively low precision when applied to blast furnace slag-based concretes which are more resistant to chloride ingress than the other materials tested
Voting 'against all' in postcommunist Russia
Since the early 1990s voters in Russia (and most of the other post-Soviet republics) have been offered
the opportunity to vote ‘against all’ parties and candidates. Increasing numbers have done so. The
evidence of two post-election surveys indicates that ‘against all’ voters are younger than other voters,
more urban and more highly educated. They do not reject liberal democracy, but are critical of the
contemporary practice of Russian politics and find no parties that adequately reflect their views. With
the ending of the ‘against all’ facility in 2006 and other changes in the Russian electoral system under
the Putin presidency, levels of turnout are likely to fall further and the protest vote will seek other
outlets within or outside the parliamentary system

Measurement of eta_c(1S), eta_c(2S) and non-resonant eta' pi+ pi- production via two-photon collisions
We report the measurement of gamma gamma to eta_c(1S), eta_c(2S) to eta' pi+
pi- with eta' decays to gamma rho and eta pi+ pi- using 941 fb^{-1} of data
collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider.
The eta_c(1S) mass and width are measured to be M = [2984.6\pm0.7 (stat.)\pm2.2
(syst.)] MeV/c^{2} and \Gamma = [30.8^{+2.3}_{-2.2}~(stat.) \pm 2.5~(syst.)]
MeV, respectively. First observation of eta_c(2S) to eta' pi+ pi- with a
significance of 5.5sigma including systematic error is obtained, and the
eta_c(2S) mass is measured to be M = [3635.1\pm3.7~(stat.)\pm2.9~(syst.)]
MeV/c^{2}. The products of the two-photon decay width and branching fraction
(B) of decays to eta'pi+ pi- are determined to be \Gamma_{gamma gamma}B =
[65.4\pm2.6~(stat.)\pm6.9~(syst.)] eV for eta_c(1S) and
[5.6^{+1.2}_{-1.1}~(stat.)\pm1.1~(syst.)] eV for eta_c(2S). A new decay mode
for the eta_c(1S) to eta'f_0(2080) with f_0(2080) to pi+ pi- is observed with a
statistical significance of 20sigma. The f_0(2080) mass and width are
determined to be M = [2083^{+63}_{-66}~(stat.)\pm 32~(syst.)] MeV/c^{2} and
\Gamma = [178^{+60}_{-178}~(stat.) \pm 55~(syst.)] MeV. The cross sections for
gamma gamma to eta' pi+ pi- and eta'f_{2}(1270) are measured for the first
time.Comment: 19 pages, 14 figure

Measurement of Branching Fractions of Hadronic Decays of the Baryon
Using a data sample of 980 of annihilation data
taken with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy
collider, we report the results of a study of the decays of the
charmed baryon into hadronic final states. We report the most precise
measurements to date of the relative branching fractions of the
into , , , and

of the into , , and , all with respect to the decay. In
addition, we investigate the resonant substructure of these modes. Finally, we
present a limit on the branching fraction for the decay
