    Top quark decays with flavor violation in the B-LSSM

    The decays of top quark tcγ,  tcg,  tcZ,  tcht\rightarrow c\gamma,\;t\rightarrow cg,\;t\rightarrow cZ,\;t\rightarrow ch are extremely rare processes in the standard model (SM). The predictions on the corresponding branching ratios in the SM are too small to be detected in the future, hence any measurable signal for the processes at the LHC is a smoking gun for new physics. In the extension of minimal supersymmetric standard model with an additional local U(1)BLU(1)_{B-L} gauge symmetry (B-LSSM), new gauge interaction and new flavor changing interaction affect the theoretical evaluations on corresponding branching ratios of those processes. In this work, we analyze those processes in the B-LSSM, under a minimal flavor violating assumption for the soft breaking terms. Considering the constraints from updated experimental data, the numerical results imply Br(tcγ)5×107Br(t\rightarrow c\gamma)\sim5\times10^{-7}, Br(tcg)2×106Br(t\rightarrow cg)\sim2\times10^{-6}, Br(tcZ)4×107Br(t\rightarrow cZ)\sim4\times10^{-7} and Br(tch)3×109Br(t\rightarrow ch)\sim3\times10^{-9} in our chosen parameter space. Simultaneously, new gauge coupling constants gB,  gYBg_{_B},\;g_{_{YB}} in the B-LSSM can also affect the numerical results of Br(tcγ,  cg,  cZ,  ch)Br(t\rightarrow c\gamma,\;cg,\;cZ,\;ch).Comment: 20 pages, 4 figures, published in EPJC. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1803.0990

Top executives nowadays confront great challenges in acquiring new corporate accounts to meet agreed targets and drive rapid, profitable growth. Accordingly, corporations commonly decide to reinstate former top executives since their managerial experience is expected to improve corporate performance. The aim of this study is to provide practical guidelines for companies that are considering such decisions and favorable information that can help investors to adjust their portfolios in response to such potential decisions

    In this paper, we address the issues related to the design of fuzzy robust linear regression algorithms. The design of robust linear regression analysis has been studied in the literature of statistics for over two decades. More recently various robust regression models have been proposed for processing noisy data. We proposed a new objective function by using fuzzy complement and derive improved algorithms that can produce good regression analysis from the spoiled data set. Data set from the U.S. Department of Transportation is used to evaluate the performance of the regression algorithms

    Interaction between Thymidylate Synthase and Its Cognate mRNA in Zebrafish Embryos

    Thymidylate synthase (TS), which catalyzes the de novo synthesis of dUMP, is an important target for cancer therapy. In this report, the effects of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and ZD1694 on the regulation of TS gene expression were evaluated in zebrafish embryos. Our results revealed that the expression of TS was increased by about six-fold when embryos were treated with 1.0 µM 5-FU and there was a greater than 10-fold increase in the TS protein level after treatment with 0.4 µM ZD1694. Northern blot analysis confirmed that expression of TS mRNA was identical in treated or untreated embryos. Gel shift and immunoprecipitation assays revealed that zebrafish TS was specifically bound with its cognate mRNA in vitro and in vivo. We identified a 20 nt RNA sequence, TS:N20, localized to the 5′-UTR of TS mRNA, which corresponded to nt 13–32; TS:N20 bound to the TS protein with an affinity similar to that of the full-length TS mRNA. The MFold program predicted that TS:N20 formed a stable stem-loop structure similar to that of the cis-acting element found in human TS mRNA. Variant RNAs with either a deletion or mutation in the core motif of TS:N20 were unable to bind to the TS protein. In vitro translation experiments, using the rabbit lysate system, confirmed that zebrafish TS mRNA translation was significantly repressed when an excess amount of TS protein was included in the system. Additionally, a TS stability experiment confirmed that treatment of zebrafish embryos with 5-FU could increase the TS stability significantly, and the half life of TS protein was about 2.7 times longer than in untreated embryos. Our study revealed a structural requirement for the interaction of TS RNA with TS protein. These findings also demonstrated that the increase in TS protein induced by 5-FU occurs at the post-transcriptional level and that increased stability and translation efficiency both contributed to the increase in TS protein levels induced by TS inhibitors

    Multicomponent polysaccharide alginate-based bioinks

    3D-Bioprinting has seen a rapid expansion in the last few years, with an increasing number of reported bioinks. Alginate is a natural biopolymer that forms hydrogels by ionic cross-linking with calcium ions. Due to its biocompatibility and ease of gelation, it is an ideal ingredient for bioinks. This review focuses on recent advances on bioink formulations based on the combination of alginate with other polysaccharides. In particular, the molecular weight of the alginate and its loading level has an impact on materials performance, as well as the loading of the divalent metal salt and its solubility, which affects the cross-linking of the gel. Alginate is often combined with other polysaccharides that can sigificantly modify the properties of the gel, and can optimise alginate for use in different biological applications. It is also possible to combine alginate with sacrificial polymers, which can temporarily reinforce the 3D printed construct, but then be removed at a later stage. Other additives can be formulated into the gels to enhance performance, including nanomaterials that tune rheological properties, peptides to encourage cell adhesion, or growth factors to direct stem cell differentiation. The ease of formulating multiple components into alginate gels gives them considerable potential for further development. In summary, this review will facilitate the identification of different alginate-polysaccharide bioink formulations and their optimal applications, and help inform the design of second generation bioinks, allowing this relatively simple gel system to achieve more sophisticated control over biological processes
