    We show that a rank two finite group G admits a finite G-CW-complex X homotopy equivalent to a sphere, with rank one prime power isotropy, if and only if G does not p'-involve Qd(p) for any odd prime p. This follows from a more general theorem which allows us to construct a finite G-CW-complex by gluing together a given G-invariant family of representations defined on the Sylow subgroups of G.Comment: 16 page

The main observation is the following: If D is a restriction functor for a finite group G, then the mark morphism φ : D+ → D+ is the same as the norm map of the Tate cohomology sequence (over conjugation algebra for G) after composing with a suitable isomorphism of D+. As a consequence, we obtain an exact sequence of Mackey functors 0 → over(Ext, ̂)γ- 1 (ρ, D) → D+ over({long rightwards arrow}, φ) D+ → over(Ext, ̂)γ0 (ρ, D) → 0 where ρ denotes the restriction algebra and γ denotes the conjugation algebra for G. Then, we show how one can calculate these Tate groups explicitly using group cohomology and give some applications to integrality conditions. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

    Cataloged from PDF version of article.Let G be a finite group and ℱ be a family of subgroups of G closed under conjugation and taking subgroups. We consider the question whether there exists a periodic relative ℱ-projective resolution for ℤ when ℱ is the family of all subgroups H ≤ G with rk H ≤ rkG - 1. We answer this question negatively by calculating the relative group cohomology ℱH*(G, F{double-struck}2) where G = ℤ/2 × ℤ/2 and ℱ is the family of cyclic subgroups of G. To do this calculation we first observe that the relative group cohomology ℱH*(G, M) can be calculated using the ext-groups over the orbit category of G restricted to the family ℱ. In second part of the paper, we discuss the construction of a spectral sequence that converges to the cohomology of a group G and whose horizontal line at E 2 page is isomorphic to the relative group cohomology of G. © 2014 Copyright Taylor & Francis Group, LLC

Math. 51 (2000) 169-181] which states that if G is a finite group and k is a field of characteristic p, then any k G-module is a direct summand of a module which has a filtration whose sections are induced from elementary abelian p-subgroups of G.     Cataloged from PDF version of article.We prove that if a finite group G acts smoothly on a manifold M such that all the isotropy subgroups are abelian groups with rank ≤ k, then G acts freely and smoothly on M × double struk S signn1 ×... × double struk S signnk for some positive integers n1, ..., nk. We construct these actions using a recursive method, introduced in an earlier paper, that involves abstract fusion systems on finite groups. As another application of this method, we prove that every finite solvable group acts freely and smoothly on some product of spheres, with trivial action on homology.     A note on the effect of pre-slaughter transport duration on nutrient composition and fatty acid profile of broiler breast meat

    WOS: 000294933400008The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of pre-slaughter transport duration, as a stress factor, on nutrient and fatty acid composition of broiler breast meat. The study was conducted on 48 breast muscles obtained from Ross broilers slaughtered at the average weight of 1.8 or 2.6 kg, 36 and 46 days old, respectively. Transport duration was 1.5 or 3 h. Heavier broilers transported for longer duration had the higher protein content, while lighter broilers gave similar results. Lower moisture but higher lipid content was observed for the long transported broilers. Fatty acid composition was significantly influenced by body weight and transport duration: a lower content of PUFA was obtained for heavier broilers. Ratios of PUFA/SFA was lower in heavier broilers.     The collisional removal Of 02 molecules in selected vibrational levels of the c state is studied using a two-laser double-resonance technique. The output of the first laser excites the 02 to nu = 9 or 10 of the c Sigma - state, and the ultraviolet output of the second laser monitors specific rovibrational levels via resonance-enhanced ionization. The temporal evolution of the c Sigma u state vibrational level is observed by scanning the time delay between the two pulsed lasers. As the rate constants for 02 and N2 are similar in magnitude, N2 collisions dominate the removal rate in the earth's atmosphere. For v= 10 colliding with 02, we find a removal rate constant that is 2-5 times that for v=9 and that single quantum collision cascade is an important pathway for removal
