    Azimuthal anisotropy in Au+Au collisions at sqrtsNN = 200 GeV

    The results from the STAR Collaboration on directed flow (v_1), elliptic flow (v_2), and the fourth harmonic (v_4) in the anisotropic azimuthal distribution of particles from Au+Au collisions at sqrtsNN = 200 GeV are summarized and compared with results from other experiments and theoretical models. Results for identified particles are presented and fit with a Blast Wave model. Different anisotropic flow analysis methods are compared and nonflow effects are extracted from the data. For v_2, scaling with the number of constituent quarks and parton coalescence is discussed. For v_4, scaling with v_2^2 and quark coalescence is discussed.Comment: 26 pages. As accepted by Phys. Rev.     Search for rare quark-annihilation decays, B --> Ds(*) Phi

    We report on searches for B- --> Ds- Phi and B- --> Ds*- Phi. In the context of the Standard Model, these decays are expected to be highly suppressed since they proceed through annihilation of the b and u-bar quarks in the B- meson. Our results are based on 234 million Upsilon(4S) --> B Bbar decays collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. We find no evidence for these decays, and we set Bayesian 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions BF(B- --> Ds- Phi) Ds*- Phi)<1.2x10^(-5).     Guidelines for diagnosis and management of the cobalamin-related remethylation disorders cblC, cblD, cblE, cblF, cblG, cblJ and MTHFR deficiency

    BACKGROUND: Remethylation defects are rare inherited disorders in which impaired remethylation of homocysteine to methionine leads to accumulation of homocysteine and perturbation of numerous methylation reactions. OBJECTIVE: To summarise clinical and biochemical characteristics of these severe disorders and to provide guidelines on diagnosis and management. DATA SOURCES: Review, evaluation and discussion of the medical literature (Medline, Cochrane databases) by a panel of experts on these rare diseases following the GRADE approach. KEY RECOMMENDATIONS: We strongly recommend measuring plasma total homocysteine in any patient presenting with the combination of neurological and/or visual and/or haematological symptoms, subacute spinal cord degeneration, atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome or unexplained vascular thrombosis. We strongly recommend to initiate treatment with parenteral hydroxocobalamin without delay in any suspected remethylation disorder; it significantly improves survival and incidence of severe complications. We strongly recommend betaine treatment in individuals with MTHFR deficiency; it improves the outcome and prevents disease when given early

    A Precision Measurement of the Lambda_c Baryon Mass

    The Λc+\Lambda_c^+ baryon mass is measured using Λc+ΛKS0K+\Lambda_c^+\to\Lambda K^0_S K^+ and Λc+Σ0KS0K+\Lambda_c^+\to\Sigma^0 K^0_S K^+ decays reconstructed in 232 fb1^{-1} of data collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- storage ring. The Λc+\Lambda_c^+ mass is measured to be 2286.46±0.14MeV/c22286.46\pm0.14\mathrm{MeV}/c^2. The dominant systematic uncertainties arise from the amount of material in the tracking volume and from the magnetic field strength.Comment: 14 pages, 8 postscript figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.

    Incident energy dependence of p(t) correlations at relativistic energies

    Journals published by the American Physical Society can be found at http://publish.aps.org/We present results for two-particle transverse momentum correlations, , as a function of event centrality for Au+Au collisions at root SNN = 20, 62, 130, and 200 GeV at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. We observe correlations decreasing with centrality that are similar at all four incident energies. The correlations multiplied by the multiplicity density increase with incident energy, and the centrality dependence may show evidence of processes such as thermalization, jet production, or the saturation of transverse flow. The square root of the correlations divided by the event-wise average transverse momentum per event shows little or no beam energy dependence and generally agrees with previous measurements made at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron

    Multistrange baryon elliptic flow in Au plus Au collisions at root(NN)-N-S=200 GeV

    We report on the first measurement of elliptic flow nu(2)(p(T)) of multistrange baryons Xi(-)+Xi(+) and Omega(-)+Omega(+) in heavy-ion collisions. In minimum-bias Au+Au collisions at root s(NN)=200 GeV, a significant amount of elliptic flow, comparable to other nonstrange baryons, is observed for multistrange baryons which are expected to be particularly sensitive to the dynamics of the partonic stage of heavy-ion collisions. The p(T) dependence of nu(2) of the multistrange baryons confirms the number of constituent quark scaling previously observed for lighter hadrons. These results support the idea that a substantial fraction of the observed collective motion is developed at the early partonic stage in ultrarelativistic nuclear collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider

    Open charm yields in d+Au collisions at root s(NN)=200 GeV

    Midrapidity open charm spectra from direct reconstruction of D-0((D) over bar (0))-->K(-/+)pi(+/-) in d(+)Au collisions and indirect electron-positron measurements via charm semileptonic decays in p+p and d+Au collisions at roots(NN)=200 GeV are reported. The D-0((D) over bar (0)) spectrum covers a transverse momentum (p(T)) range of 0.1< p(T) < 3 GeV/c, whereas the electron spectra cover a range of 1< p(T) < 4 GeV/c. The electron spectra show approximate binary collision scaling between p+p and d+Au collisions. From these two independent analyses, the differential cross section per nucleon-nucleon binary interaction at midrapidity for open charm production from d+Au collisions at BNL RHIC is dsigma(c)((c)) over bar (NN)/dy=0.30+/-0.04(stat)+/-0.09(syst) mb. The results are compared to theoretical calculations. Implications for charmonium results in A+A collisions are discussed

    Measurements of the branching fraction and CP-violation asymmetries in B-0 -> f(0)(980)K-S(0)

    We present measurements of the branching fraction and CP-violating asymmetries in the decay B-0-->f(0)(980)K-S(0). The results are obtained from a data sample of 123x10(6) Y(4S)-->B (B) over bar decays. From a time-dependent maximum likelihood fit, we measure the branching fraction B(B-0-->f(0)(980)(-->pi(+)pi(-))K-0)=(6.0+/-0.9+/-0.6+/-1.2)x10(-6), the mixing-induced CP violation parameter S=-1.62(-0.51)(+0.56)+/-0.09+/-0.04, and the direct CP violation parameter C=0.27+/-0.36+/-0.10+/-0.07, where the first errors are statistical, the second systematic, and the third due to model uncertainties. We measure the f(0)(980) mass and width to be m(f0)(980)=(980.6+/-4.1+/-0.5+/-4.0) MeV/c(2) and Gamma(f0)(980)=(43(-9)(+12)+/-3+/-9) MeV/c(2), respectively

    Search for radiative penguin decays B+->rho(+)gamma, B-0 ->rho(0)gamma, and B-0 ->omega gamma

    A search for the decays B-->rho(770)gamma and B-0-->omega(782)gamma is performed on a sample of 211x10(6) Y(4S)-->B (B) over bar events collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) storage ring. No evidence for the decays is seen. We set the following limits on the individual branching fractions: B(B+-->rho(+)gamma)rho(0)gamma)omegagamma)(rho/omega)gamma]<1.2x10(-6), from which we determine a constraint on the ratio of Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements |V-td|/|V-ts|

    Search for the decay B+-> K+ v(v)over-bar

    We search for the rare flavor-changing neutral-current decay B+ -> K+ v (v) over tilde in a data sample of 82 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-factory. Signal events are selected by examining the properties of the system recoiling against either a reconstructed hadronic or semileptonic charged-B decay. Using these two independent samples we obtain a combined limit of B(B+ -> K+ v (v) over bar) pi(+) v (v) over bar) < 1.0 x 10(-4) using only the hadronic B reconstruction method
