THE TYPES OF MAXIM VIOLATION FOUND IN LUCA MOVIE

The study aimed to determine the types of maxim violations used by characters. The investigation concerns the kinds of maxim violations and the context of the situation in the movie. This study aims to analyze the types of maxim violations by using the theory of Grice (1975). This study applied the descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the data collected by some steps; the first are by watching the movie while reading the subtitle, then reading the script of the movie again and taking a note of the conversation that violated in the movie. The findings showed four types of maxim violations used by the characters. The study results showed that the types of maxim violations found in the movie are 24 data. The dominant maxim violation uttered by the characters in this movie is maxim quality. The finding shows that the most dominant maxim violation used by the character is a violation of maxim quality. The characters in the movie, when they make the conversation, each character sometimes answer it by giving untruth information or lies. &nbsp

Pemasaran merupakan elemen penting dalam kegiatan penjualan suatu produk. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memecahkan masalah maupun kendala yang dihadapi mitra perusahaan PT. Alfajores Bali Enak. Masalah dan kendala yang ditemukan pada perusahaan adalah kurang memberikan promosi terhadap menu dan produk baru serta kurang memaksimalkan pemasarannya pada sosial media. Maka dari itu, tim pelaksana pengabdian merancang program kerja yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan pemasaran pada mitra yang terkait melalui sarana sosial media. Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini melalui beberapa tahapan, yang diawali dengan observasi yang selanjutnya diikuti dengan tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan secara langsung selama masa kegiatan. Adapun hasil pelaksanaan adalah bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penjualan melalui pembuatan promosi menu kombinasi, kartu diskon, kartu pelanggan, serta mengunggah promosi yang telah dipersiapkan dalam bentuk foto atau video ke sosial media. CATEGORY SHIFT OF NOUN PHRASES IN TRANSLATING FIVE LITTLE PIGS NOVEL BY AGATHA CHRISTIE

The purposes of this study are to identify the kinds of category shift and describe how the principles of translation occurs in the translation of noun phrase in Five Little Pigs novel. In this study the data was taken from a novel by Agatha Christie (1942) entitled Five Little Pigs as the source language and its translated version in Indonesian entitled Mengungkit Pembunuhan as the target language. The data were collected by using observation method and combine with note taking method to find out and classify the data. The theory used in analyzing the data ware a theory of Category Shift proposed by Catford (1965) and a theory of principles of translation by Nida (1975). Descriptive qualitative method was used to analyze the data. The findings of this study demonstrate that all kinds of category shifts were discovered in the novel's translation of noun phrases. The most frequent data found was the structure shift consisting of 155 data or 49.3%. The second is unit shift that has 108 data or 34.3%, the third was class shift which reach the number of 31 data or 9.8%. And the last is intra-system shift consisting 20 data or 6.3% percentages out of the total data were 314 data. Moreover, for the principles of translation, the highest frequency found is gain of information with 139 data or 44% out of 314 data. Facing Anxiety through Ego Defense Mechanisms on The Walking Dead: Michonne Movie Game

With the advancement of technology, a newly adopted form of literary work was found, known as a movie game. It is one of the game genres that resembles real movies that provide choices to the players who can actively determine the story, ending, and characters' action. In literary work, a character is one of the intrinsic elements that can be interestingly analyzed from the psychological perspective, including Ego Defense Mechanisms. This study focuses on how the protagonist in a movie game entitled The Walking Dead: Michonne faced her anxiety through her ego defense mechanisms. It aims to identify the types of ego defense mechanisms and how they can help the protagonist cope with her anxiety. The discussion was based on psychoanalysis theory, namely Ego Defense Mechanisms proposed by Sigmund Freud. This study elaborated the description of the protagonist's actions when she faced anxiety through a qualitative method. The analysis revealed that the protagonist adopted the four types of Ego Defense Mechanisms: repression, sublimation, rationalization, and aggression. It was found that aggression was the most frequently adopted mechanism, followed by sublimation, rationalization, and the least was repression. This finding indicated that the protagonist chose aggression to release resentment or dissatisfaction, especially when facing objects or other characters that create anxiety or frustration. It implies that the persistence of aggression, sublimation, rationalization, and repression could reflect the presence of continual threats in the environment from which people should survive.

An Analysis of Asperger’s Syndrome in a Brilliant Young Mind (X+Y) Movie

This research investigated the Asperger's Syndrome experienced by Nathan in A Brilliant Young Mind (X+Y) (2014) movie. Nathan is a nine-year-old boy who grew up with Autism Spectrum Disorder types called Asperger's Syndrome because he has shown two out of three main characteristics in the movie with six sub-characteristics included. With these characteristics, Nathan tends to have difficulties in mingling with society. The aim of this study is to identify the characteristics of Asperger’s syndrome that shows in A Brilliant Young Mind (X+Y) (2014) movie. The data in this research were taken from A Brilliant Young Mind (X+Y) (2014) movie and script directed by Morgan Matthews. In analyzing this movie, the theory formulated by Mesibov, Shea & Adams (2001) was used to analyze the characteristics of Asperger's Syndrome that Nathan suffered. This research used the qualitative method. The finding shows that there are six sub-characteristics of the Asperger's Syndrome that Nathan has; impairment in multiple nonverbal behaviors, difficulty in building a friendship, a lack of sharing pleasure, readability, or achievement with others, having social or temperamental retaliation, routines or ritual which never changes, and having an interest in a particular subject. Types of Slang Found in Raya and the Last Dragon Movie Series 2021 by Walt Disney

The objective of this study is to know what types of slang found in Raya and The Last Dragon movie. As said before, the data source for this paper is a movie entitled Raya an The Last Dragon. The data was analyzed using descriptive qualitative method use theory from Allan and Burridge (2006) who divided slang into five types, that are fresh and creative, flippant, imitative, acronym, and clipping.After doing the observation and collecting the data, researcher found 8 data. Moreover, after the analyzation researcher can conclude that the data that found can classified into four types of slang from Allan and Burridge that are 3 data for fresh and creative, 2 data for imitative, 1 data for flippant and 2 data for clipping, researcher do not found the data that can classified as acronym. Figurative Language Found In Harry Styles’ Song Lyrics

Figurative language is a language that conveys thoughts or feelings in different forms to obtain effects and to emphasize certain meanings. This study describes the analysis of figurative language in Harry Styles’ song lyrics. The purpose of this study was 1) to determine the type of figurative language in Harry Styles’ songs using the theory of Knickerbocker & Reninger (1963) and 2) to explain the meaning of the figurative language contained in it (Leech, 1981). The data sources were obtained from 10 Harry Styles songs that have the highest number of viewers on their YouTube channel. This research used the descriptive qualitative method to analyze data and the observation method in collecting research data. From the results of the analysis, there are ten types of figurative language in thirty-four sentences of the data. They are simile (1 sentence, 2.94%), metaphor (5 sentences, 14.70%), personification (5 sentences, 14.70%), synecdoche (1 sentence, 2.94%), metonymy (3 sentences, 8.82%, hyperbole (14 sentences, 41.18%), irony (2 sentences, 5.90%), paradox (1 sentence, 2.94%), dead metaphor (1 sentence, 2.94%), and allusion (1 sentence, 2.94%

The Derived Process of Derivational Morpheme Found in The Power of a Positive Wife Book

The purpose of the research is to describe the derived process of derivational morpheme found in “The Power of a Positive Wife Book” This study focused on: The derived process of each derivational morpheme used in “The Power of a Positive Wife Book.”  Qualitative and supported by quantitative method was used in this research and the data source was “The Power of a Positive Wife” Book. The method used in collecting the data was descriptive qualitative method. The result of the analysis was presented by using formal and informal method. In affixes, have three types as follows: suffix, infix and prefix. There are nine types of derived process of derivational morpheme such as Noun derived from Adjective, Adjective derived from Noun, Noun derived from Noun, Verb derived from Verb, Noun derived from Verb, Adjective derived from Adjective, Verb derived from Noun, Adjective derived from Verb and Adverb derived from Adjective. The frequencies of each kind of derivational morpheme are different to each other. The most frequently occurring were derived adverb from adjective and the most rarely occurring was derived Adjective from Adjective. Derived verb from Adjective and derived adjective from verb were not found in this data source.  The total data of derivational morpheme found in The Power of a Positive Wife Book was 195 words
