Nonrelativistic double photoeffect on lithiumlike ions at high energies
The total cross section for double ionization of lithiumlike ions by a
high-energy photon is calculated in leading order of the nonrelativistic
perturbation theory. The partial contributions due to simultaneous and
sequential emissions of two electrons are taken into account. The cross section
under consideration is shown to be related to those for double photoeffect on
the ground and excited 2^{1,3}S states of heliumlike ions. The double-to-single
ionization ratio is equal to R = 0.288/Z^2 for lithiumlike ions with moderate
nuclear charge numbers Z. However, even for the lightest three-electron targets
such as Li and Be^+, analytical predictions are found to be in good agreement
with the numerical calculations performed within the framework of different
rather involved approaches.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures. to be published in Physics Letters

A cloud-based Analytics-Platform for user-centric Internet of Things domains â Prototype and Performance Evaluation
Data analytics have the potential to increase the value of data emitted from smart devices in user-centric Internet of Things environments, such as smart home, drastically. In order to allow businesses and end-consumers alike to tap into this potential, appropriate analytics architectures must be present. Current solutions in this field do not tackle all of the diverse challenges and requirements, which were identified in previous research. Specifically, personalized, extensible analytics solutions, which still offer the means to address big data problems are scarce. In this paper, we therefore present an architectural solution, which was specifically designed to address the named challenges. Furthermore, we offer insights into the prototypical implementation of the proposed concept as well as an evaluation of its performance against traditional big data architectures
An Interactive Decision Support System for Analyzing and Linkage of Weather-Related Restrictions of Opencast Lignite Mines
Opencast lignite mines leave behind large cratered
landscapes, which also represent a large intervention in nature.
In addition to being unusable, these areas also pose a hazard to
the surrounding areas. Therefore, the goal is to renaturalize and
recultivate these areas in order to recreate natural and usable
areas again. These areas can then be used as nature reserves, for
agriculture or tourism. The process of recultivation is based on
a large amount of information, such as how should an area be
implemented, what restrictions should be observed, and under
what conditions may the whole recultivation process take place.
While all of this information is available and there are many
tools for displaying weather data, for example, this information
is not linked to the specific area data. Linking a weather-related restriction (that only exists in a purely textual report
for an area) to the weather data for a specific area at a specific
time is very time-consuming and cumbersome. We support the
experts in performing their tasks by linking the different types
of data and providing visualizations of these data together with
an appropriate filtering mechanism and selection mechanisms,
implemented in an interactive decision support system. Textual
information and explanations of the various restrictions are
additionally linked to provide a clear explanation of the validity
of specific restrictions
Observation of Non-isotropic Auger Angular Distribution in the C(1s) Shape Resonance of CO
Angle-resolved high-resolution C(KVV) Auger spectra of CO were taken in the vicinity of the C(1s) Ï* shape resonance. These spectra show clear evidence for the theoretically predicted anisotropic K-shell Auger emission in molecules. Complementary results from angle-resolved photoion spectroscopy show that the small size of the observed effect is, besides the varying intrinsic anisotropy of the Auger decay, also due to a smaller anisotropy in the primary absorption process than originally predicted but in good agreement with more recent calculations. Contrary to this, satellite Auger transitions show unexpectedly large anisotropies
