    Exploring Deep Space: Learning Personalized Ranking in a Semantic Space

    Recommender systems leverage both content and user interactions to generate recommendations that fit users' preferences. The recent surge of interest in deep learning presents new opportunities for exploiting these two sources of information. To recommend items we propose to first learn a user-independent high-dimensional semantic space in which items are positioned according to their substitutability, and then learn a user-specific transformation function to transform this space into a ranking according to the user's past preferences. An advantage of the proposed architecture is that it can be used to effectively recommend items using either content that describes the items or user-item ratings.     In-medium nucleon-nucleon potentials in configuration space

    Based on the thermodynamic Green function approach two-nucleon correlations in nuclear matter at finite temperatures are revisited. To this end, we derive phase equivalent effective rr-space potentials that include the effect of the Pauli blocking at a given temperature and density. These potentials enter into a Schr\"odinger equation that is the rr-space representation of the Galitskii-Feynman equation for two nucleons. We explore the analytical structure of the equation in the complex kk-plane by means of Jost functions. We find that despite the Mott effect the correlation with deuteron quantum numbers are manifested as antibound states, i.e., as zeros of the Jost function on the negative imaginary axis of the complex momentum space. The analysis presented here is also suited for Coulombic systems.Comment: 6 pages, 1 table, 4 figure

    Investigations of solutions of Einstein's field equations close to lambda-Taub-NUT

    We present investigations of a class of solutions of Einstein's field equations close to the family of lambda-Taub-NUT spacetimes. The studies are done using a numerical code introduced by the author elsewhere. One of the main technical complication is due to the S3-topology of the Cauchy surfaces. Complementing these numerical results with heuristic arguments, we are able to yield some first insights into the strong cosmic censorship issue and the conjectures by Belinskii, Khalatnikov, and Lifschitz in this class of spacetimes. In particular, the current investigations suggest that strong cosmic censorship holds in this class.     The purpose of this paper is to examine whether there is a relationship between variable stop management support, service culture and service orientation. Where is the service culture is antecedent of service orientation. This case, was also examined the relationship between service orientation, service quality, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty in starbucks coffee cibubur square, cibubur junction, bogor rest area, botani square, and university of Indonesia. In this study, data were collected through surveys and structural equation modeling is used for data analysis. The number of samples as many as 100employees and 100 customers starbucks coffee that is divided in cibubur square, cibubur junction, bogor rest area, botani square, and university of Indonesia and 100 customers of Starbucks Coffee. Factor analysis with SPSS and structural equation model with AMOS program used to test the hypothesis.The results of this study indicate that the support of top management, the service culture was positively related to service orientation and service quality. However, the service quality to customer satisfaction found a negative relationship.Then between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty is strong and positively related to each other

    One-dimensional infinite component vector spin glass with long-range interactions

    We investigate zero and finite temperature properties of the one-dimensional spin-glass model for vector spins in the limit of an infinite number m of spin components where the interactions decay with a power, \sigma, of the distance. A diluted version of this model is also studied, but found to deviate significantly from the fully connected model. At zero temperature, defect energies are determined from the difference in ground-state energies between systems with periodic and antiperiodic boundary conditions to determine the dependence of the defect-energy exponent \theta on \sigma. A good fit to this dependence is \theta =3/4-\sigma. This implies that the upper critical value of \sigma is 3/4, corresponding to the lower critical dimension in the d-dimensional short-range version of the model. For finite temperatures the large m saddle-point equations are solved self-consistently which gives access to the correlation function, the order parameter and the spin-glass susceptibility. Special attention is paid to the different forms of finite-size scaling effects below and above the lower critical value, \sigma =5/8, which corresponds to the upper critical dimension 8 of the hypercubic short-range model.Comment: 27 pages, 27 figures, 4 table

    Evidence for Strain-Induced Local Conductance Modulations in Single-Layer Graphene on SiO_2

    Graphene has emerged as an electronic material that is promising for device applications and for studying two-dimensional electron gases with relativistic dispersion near two Dirac points. Nonetheless, deviations from Dirac-like spectroscopy have been widely reported with varying interpretations. Here we show evidence for strain-induced spatial modulations in the local conductance of single-layer graphene on SiO_2 substrates from scanning tunneling microscopic (STM) studies. We find that strained graphene exhibits parabolic, U-shaped conductance vs bias voltage spectra rather than the V-shaped spectra expected for Dirac fermions, whereas V-shaped spectra are recovered in regions of relaxed graphene. Strain maps derived from the STM studies further reveal direct correlation with the local tunneling conductance. These results are attributed to a strain-induced frequency increase in the out-of-plane phonon mode that mediates the low-energy inelastic charge tunneling into graphene

    Orbital Dimer Model for Spin-Glass State in Y2_2Mo2_2O7_7

    The formation of a spin glass usually requires both structural disorder and frustrated magnetic interactions. Consequently, the origin of spin-glass behaviour in Y2_2Mo2_2O7_7 −- in which magnetic Mo4+^{4+} ions occupy a frustrated pyrochlore lattice with minimal compositional disorder −- has been a longstanding question. Here, we use neutron and X-ray pair-distribution function (PDF) analysis to develop a disorder model that resolves apparent incompatibilities between previously-reported PDF, EXAFS and NMR studies and provides a new and physical mechanism for spin-glass formation. We show that Mo4+^{4+} ions displace according to a local "2-in/2-out" rule on each Mo4_4 tetrahedron, driven by orbital dimerisation of Jahn-Teller active Mo4+^{4+} ions. Long-range orbital order is prevented by the macroscopic degeneracy of dimer coverings permitted by the pyrochlore lattice. Cooperative O2−^{2-} displacements yield a distribution of Mo−-O−-Mo angles, which in turn introduces disorder into magnetic interactions. Our study demonstrates experimentally how frustration of atomic displacements can assume the role of compositional disorder in driving a spin-glass transition.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure
