    Lo scritto riproduce, con l’aggiunta delle note, la lectio magistralis letta il 29 marzo 2003 in occasione del conferimento della laurea honoris causa da parte della Facoltà di Giurisprudenza dell’Università di Urbino “Carlo Bo”. Dopo aver illustrato le categorie ed i criteri correnti dell’imputazione penale, anche sotto il profilo delle interrelazioni con il diritto processuale, vengono presi in esame alcuni topoi del pensiero economico e della prassi aziendale, indagandone il significato per il diritto penale. I risultati di questa riflessione mettono in luce la necessità di elaborare criteri capaci di cogliere in modo adeguato i modelli di condotta e i processi decisionali del mondo dell’economia al fine di rendere applicabile la dommatica del diritto penale e i suoi fondamenti politico-criminali a quelle strutture del reale

    Within the last decade, big data became a promising trend for many application areas, offering immense potential and a competitive edge for various organizations. As the technical foundation for most of today´s data-intensive projects, not only corresponding infrastructures and facilities but also the appropriate knowledge is required. Currently, several projects and services exist that not only allow enterprises to utilize but also to deploy related technologies and systems. However, at the same time, the use of these is accompanied by various challenges that may result in huge monetary expenditures, a lack of modifiability, or a risk of vendor lock-ins. To overcome these shortcomings, in the contribution at hand, modern container and task automation technologies are used to wrap complex big data technologies into re-usable and portable resources. Those are subsequently incorporated in a framework to automate the deployment of big data architectures in private and limited resources

    Exploring the Applicability of Test Driven Development in the Big Data Domain

    Big data analytics and the according applications have gained huge importance in daily life. This results on the one hand from their versatility and on the other hand from their capability to greatly improve an organization’s performance when utilized appropriately. However, despite their prevalence and the corresponding attention through practitioners as well as the scientific world, the actual implementation still remains a challenging task. Therefore, without the adequate testing, the reliability of the systems and thus the obtained outputs is uncertain. This might reduce their utilization, or even worse, lead to a diminished decision-making quality. The publication at hand explores the adoption of test driven development as a potential approach for addressing this issue. Subsequently, using the design science research methodology, a microservice-based test driven development concept for big data (MBTDD-BD) is proposed. In the end, possible avenues for future research endeavours are indicated

    Low-code Development Platform Usage: Towards Bringing Citizen Development and Enterprise IT into Harmony

    The ongoing digitization of our world leads to many areas of our lives being more pleasant and improved. New technologies and paradigms are emerging to support the development of software and systems. Their proliferation not only leads to higher complexity of potential solutions, but also to the problem of finding qualified people. Especially enterprises, which are constantly confronted with this problem, are increasingly considering low-code development platforms (LCDP) to allow the development of software by inexperienced and untrained citizen developers. However, at this point, non-functional requirements, such as performance and security, can require a thorough system understanding. In this work, we identify issues that may occur when citizen developers use LCDPs, allowing to deduce success factors for their implementation. Eventually, this shall help decision makers when introducing LCDPs into their environments

    Automation of Customer Initiated Back Office Processes: A Design Science Research Approach to link Robotic Process Automation and Chatbots

    While the emerging technology of robotic process automation is primarily suitable for back office processes, companies use traditional chatbots to support customer interaction in the front office. However, customer requests that require more than written information usually demand an employee to execute an internal process. This paper summarizes the results of a technical design process for a combination of both technologies. After an introduction on both topics, the findings of a literature review regarding existing approaches are outlined. The development of the IT artefact is then carried out according to the design science research methodology. In particular, the research focuses on the constitution of a design theory in consideration of criteria that are found to be important for a purposeful appearance to the external user. After a proof of concept by testing the developed artefact and a summary of the results, an outlook on possible future developments is provided

    A sustainable economy fulfills societal needs in a fundamentally different way to the current economic system. Improvements to the efficiency of existing technologies or practices appear insufficient for achieving sustainable development within the planetary boundaries. Disruptive, systemic and transformational changes appear necessary in order to replace existing technologies and practices to establish a sustainable economy. Such innovations often start out in niches; however, the scaling up and the ultimate replacement of current socio-technical systems requires governance to allow for the coordination of actors, the reorganization of socio-technical systems and the mobilization and allocation of resources. As governmental institutions are part of the current (non-sustainable) systems and thereby fail to provide coherent, integrated and transformative governance, we explore whether institutional innovation from non-state actors can step in to provide governance of transformation processes. Based on explorative qualitative case studies of networks in the food sector, city planning and reporting tools, we analyze the potential of bottom-up institutional innovations to coordinate actors in transformation processes

    A Literature Review on the Challenges of Applying Test-Driven Development in Software Engineering

    Due to the ongoing trend of digitalization, the importance of software for today’s society is continuously increasing. Naturally, there is also a huge interest in improving its quality, which led to a highly active research community dedicated to this aim. Consequently, a plethora of propositions, tools, and methods emerged from the corresponding efforts. One of the approaches that have become highly prominent is the concept of test-driven development (TDD) that increases the quality of created software by restructuring the development process. However, such a big change to the followed procedures is usually also accompanied by major challenges that pose a risk for the achievement of the set targets. In order to find ways to overcome them, or at least to mitigate their impact, it is necessary to identify them and to subsequently raise awareness. Furthermore, since the effect of TDD on productivity and quality is already extensively researched, this work focuses only on issues besides these aspects. For this purpose, a literature review is presented that focuses on the challenges of TDD. In doing so, challenges that can be attributed to the three categories of people, software, and process are identified and potential avenues for future research are discussed

    Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in rodent testis

    We have previously described a 30 kDa basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF)-like protein in rodent testicular homogenates and have shown that pachytene spermatocytes are the sites of predominant immunoreactivity for this bFGF-like protein (Mayerhofer, A., Russell, L.D., Grothe, C., Rudolf, M. and Gratzl, M. (1991) Endocrinology 129, 921–924). We have now addressed the question whether this 30 kDa bFGF-like protein is a large bFGF form and whether it is produced by pachytene spermatocytes. We detected bFGF mRNA in homogenates of isolated mouse spermatocytes (which consisted mainly of pachytene spermatocytes) using S1 nuclease protection assays. As shown by Western blot analyses, the bFGF mRNA in mouse spermatocytes is translated into bFGF of an approximate molecular weight of 30 kDa. Neither bFGF mRNA, nor bFGF itself, was observed in isolated mouse Leydig cells. These results indicate that the immunoreactive bFGF-like protein observed previously in germ cells of the murine testis is identical to bFGF. Thus, germ cells of the testis produce bFGF, which may exert regulatory function in the process of spermatogenesis
