Building the "black" city: approaches developed by Portuguese architects in colonial Africa
In the final period of Portuguese colonization (1945-1975), architects faced a challenge: to build
the city for the local populations. This paper intends to explain the process of discovery of the
native settlements and how its study contributed to develop a "black" city planned by architects.
From the late 1950s on, the urban space and housing for the African populations is one of the
main architectural and urban programs carried by Portuguese architects in Africa. Facing the
fact of being economically impracticable and culturally undesirable to build neighbourhoods for
the "native" population in a European canon, architects start to survey the African habitat in
missions. The African house is one of the most studied subjects

do público-alvo.
fluidez do processo.
identidade.
Posteriormente
integrado numa instalação grupal, a marca criativa individual versus criação coletiva,
evidenciou a força do contexto grupal, fazendo sobressair cada criação individual.
The art project “Identity through toy translated into artistic creation”, developed in
the scope of supervised teaching practice, was carried out at the Escola Profissional
Gustave Eiffel – Lumiar school, with a group of 20 students, from the Child Care
Technician course, within the subject of plastic expression. The lack of habitability of
the word creativity, familiarity with the artistic process and with the language of
contemporary art were flaws in the vocabulary and identity of the target audience. This
project aimed to raise awareness for contemporary art work, plastic creativity and the
importance of art in the construction and expression of one's own identity, meeting the
gaps found in the attempt to fill them. Working on these issues so as not to trigger fears
and blockages was an essential initial care and concern for the fluidity of the process.
Adolescence, the growth phase in which the target group was, and also taken into
account, a period of transition from childhood to adulthood, inseparable from the word
metamorphosis, as well as from the word identity.
In this context, the idea of working from the object-toy arose, familiar and nourished
by memories, experiences, feelings and emotions of the past, contained in itself
favourable elements for the creative act and, acting as a starting point, for other
perspectives, demanding new forms of thinking, watching and interpreting.
The transformation that one’s identity undergoes from childhood to adolescence was
symbolically the same that affected the object-toy when recreated / interpreted through
the creation act with a contemporary artistic language. Later integrated in a group
installation, the individual creative brand versus collective creation, highlighted the
strength of the group context, making each individual creation stand out.
In this project, education and art embrace the emergence of contributing to the internal
construction process of the individuals, with art being a privileged field of action,
developing a new perspective on art and, above all, on itself
As tendências
duas áreas geográficas: Portugal e o grupo de países da Europa dos 15.Nowadays, the use of Internet grows exponentially, becoming significant its presence
in everyday actvivities. The time spent on Internet, goes beyond simple search in the search
engines or the checking the email. Trends show that the Internet users need high bandwidth
and fast response times since the most frequent behaviors are peer-to-peer (P2P), such as file
sharing, streaming videos, music, movies and series. Streaming content is increasingly the
way to listen to music or watch movies and series. The Internet is increasingly the content
provider worldwide. But, will be the choices homogeneuous among the Europe 15?
Answering this research questions is the aim of this study, which analysis the comsuption of
musical contents and/or movies and series, as well consumers’ profile. Using the data base of
Flash Eurobarometer 437, two geographic areas were compared: Portugal and the group of
countries of the Europe of the 15

Cannabinoid type 1 and 2 receptors (CB1R and CB2R) have been shown to differently modulate neurogenesis. However, low attention has been given to the interaction between CB1R and CB2R in modulating postnatal neurogenesis (proliferation, neuronal differentiation and maturation). We focused on a putative crosstalk between CB1R and CB2R to modulate neurogenesis and cultured SVZ and DG stem/progenitor cells from early postnatal (P1-3) Sprague-Dawley rats. Data showed that the non-selective cannabinoid receptor agonist WIN55,212-2 promotes DG cell proliferation (measured by BrdU staining), an effect blocked by either CB1R or CB2R selective antagonists. Experiments with selective agonists showed that facilitation of DG cell proliferation requires co-activation of both CB1R and CB2R. Cell proliferation in the SVZ was not affected by the non-selective receptor agonist, but it was enhanced by CB1R selective activation. However, either CB1R or CB2R selective antagonists abolished the effect of the CB1R agonist in SVZ cell proliferation. Neuronal differentiation (measured by immunocytochemistry against neuronal markers of different stages and calcium imaging) was facilitated by WIN55,212-2 at both SVZ and DG. This effect was mimicked by either CB1R or CB2R selective agonists and blocked by either CB1R or CB2R selective antagonists, cross-antagonism being evident. In summary, our findings indicate a tight interaction between CB1R and CB2R to modulate neurogenesis in the two major neurogenic niches, thus contributing to further unraveling the mechanisms behind the action of endocannabinoids in the brain. This work was supported by LISBOA-01-0145-FEDER-007391, project co-funded by FEDER through POR Lisboa 2020 (Programa Operacional Regional de Lisboa) from PORTUGAL 2020, and by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT).
Continuous learning and development are central factors on the contemporary paradigm of organizations, societies and individuals. It is in this context that Human Resource Development (HRD) emerges as a professional and scientific field progressively stronger and more autonomous among the Human Resources domain.
It is facing this framework that, with this paper, we aim to understand the contemporary conceptualization of HRD, exploring its main approaches, dimensions and associated issues. It is with this goal that we developed three different studies. The first study consisting on a systematic revision of literature, aiming to understand the conceptual scientific construction on HRD. A second study, which analyzes HRD professional associations with the intent of acquiring a more professionalizing perspective of the reality of HRD worldwide. The third study consists on a questionnaire to HRD professionals with the purpose of approaching the professional reality of HRD in Portugal.
The research revealed that HRD is a process directly connected to the human potential available in a determined society or organization. It aims to contribute to the acquisition and continuously improvement of individuals occupational skills and, consequently, to societies and organizations, enabling them to take a better benefit from their human capital. For this motive, the development of HRD strategies point out to be fundamental towards the alignment of society, organizations, and people, as the primer labor force element.
The most highlighted dimensions associated with HRD, are the socio-economic context (reporting to the questions of qualification and labor market), the organizational context (associated to the several activities of learning and continuous improvement) and the individual development (related to the management of one´s individual career). In all the approaches, HRD emerges as a reinforcement process of the intern skills of societies and organizations in order to deal with current and future challenges.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
movimento surrealista do século XX.
que aumentariam o risco de psicose infantil, em especial a psicose simbiótica.ABSTRACT: This dissertation is an exercise of Applied Psychoanalysis, having as object the analysis and
interpretation of the life and work of the painter Salvador Dalí, an artist associated with the
Surrealist movement of the twentieth century. Dalí used his work to express his fixations and
anxieties, especially those experienced in his childhood, demonstrating the stabilizing
property of artistic production in the psychotic structure, bypassing his delusions that invaded
him in a persecutory form. Similarly arises an intense fear of death associated with the issue
of the deadly "double", which is inherited from her dead brother and used as a paranoidcritical
method, which leads to his interpretation of the painting "L'Angelus de Millet" (1857-
1859). This question has created a confusion of identity in the artist associated with symbiotic
emotional ties, portrayed in the analysis made of the Angelus, a simulacrum of his own pain
which appears subjected to maternal desire, with no possibility of triangular. All these issues
will be reflected through the psychoanalytic interpretative paradigm, in particular through the
ideas of Freud, Lacan, Klein, Mahler, Winnicott and Bion. The emphasis will fall on themes
related to the early emotional development and their flaws that increase the risk of childhood
psychosis, especially the symbiotic psychosis
Microaerophilic growth characteristics of Pseudomonas aeruginosa importance to the successful treatment of chronic infections in cystic fibrosis lungs
Patients with CF lung disease are susceptible to chronic infections by
various pathogens, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This pathogen is
able to adaptat to the environment in CF lungs, characterized by
inflammatory defences, oxygen restriction, and poor nutrient availability. It
is well established that, once P. aeruginosa infection is installed in the
lungs, it is almost impossible to eradicate, due to sophisticated genotypic
and phenotypic adaptation mechanisms that develop according to the
stage of infection. Understanding those changes and the identification of
specific characteristics that allow P. aeruginosa eradication before the
onset of chronic infection is urgent. In this work, P. aeruginosa adaptation
under microaerophilic and anaerobic conditions was assessed in terms of
phenotypic charatceristics, antibiotic susceptibility and expression of
antibiotic resistance mechanisms (mexAB operon). Results showed,
when compared with aerobic conditions, similar growth and emergence of
intermediate resistance profiles for ciprofloxacin and imipenem, but no
significant variation in operon mexAB expression. It was also observed an
increase of colony morphotypes with the decrease of oxygen availability,
mainly in 5% O2. Nevertheless oxygen depletion has no significant effect
on P. aeruginosa growth and mexAB expression, affecting, however, the
phenotypic characteristics and antibiotic susceptibility profiles. Despite
the overall observations, the microaerophilic environment with 5% O2,
seems to demonstrate a transient distinct behaviourwhich can be a point
of evolution into chronic infection and as such a possible treatment target
