Electromagnetic wave generation processes in the hybrid log-periodic microstripe antenna on the dielectric substrate integrated with field-effect transistor are experimentally studied in the frequency range of 6─20 GHz. The possibility of synchronization and power combining in the array consisting of antenna-coupled oscillators placed on the common dielectric substrate is investigated. It is shown that the considerable increasing the generation efficiency and power combining can be obtained by using the external synchronization signal or quasi-optical design of the array

WIRELESS TERAHERTZ COMMUNICATIONS WITH SPECTRAL MODULATION OF ULTRA-WIDEBAND NOISE SIGNALS

    No full text
An ultra-wideband wireless communication system based on continuous carrier noise signals with low radiation level for digi-tal information transfer in terahertz frequency range has been investigated. Autocorrelation and spectral methods of processing received ultra-wideband noise signals with coded spectral modulation are considered. The error probability on bit of transmit information versus the energetic signal to noise ratio at the receiver input is theoretically analyzed for different bit rate per-formance and frequency band of carrier noise signals. The proposed terahertz wireless communication system is characterized by high interference immunity and information transmission reliability under conditions when the amplitude of desired signal becomes lower then the interference level. The range of radio communication at low radiation power of ultra-wideband carrier noise signals is evaluated. The performed investigations confirm the development possibility of prospective ultra-wideband systems of noise communication

Arylamine Analogs of Methylene Blue: Substituent Effect on Aggregation Behavior and DNA Binding

The synthesis of new phenothiazine derivatives, analogs of Methylene Blue, is of particular interest in the design of new drugs, as well as in the development of a new generation of agents for photodynamic therapy. In this study, two new derivatives of phenothiazine, i.e., 3,7-bis(4-aminophenylamino)phenothiazin-5-ium chloride dihydrochloride (PTZ1) and 3,7-bis(4-sulfophenylamino)phenothiazin-5-ium chloride (PTZ2), are synthesized for the first time and characterized by NMR, IR spectroscopy, HRMS and elemental analysis. The interaction of the obtained compounds PTZ1 and PTZ2 with salmon sperm DNA is investigated. It is shown by UV-Vis spectroscopy and DFT calculations that substituents in arylamine fragments play a crucial role in dimer formation and interaction with DNA. In the case of PTZ1, two amine groups promote H-aggregate formation and DNA interactions through groove binding and intercalation. In the case of PTZ2, sulfanilic acid fragments prevent any dimer formation and DNA binding due to electrostatic repulsion. DNA interaction mechanisms are studied and confirmed by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy in comparison with Methylene Blue. The obtained results open significant opportunities for the development of new drugs and photodynamic agents

ABSTRACT Objective: In this paper we report the clinical and radiological results of lumbar intervertebral disk (IVD) replacement with M6-L for the treatment of patients with IVD degeneration. Methods: One hundred and fifty-six patients with IVD degeneration were operated with the one level implantation of an M6-L prosthesis at three neurosurgical departments, in Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk and Vladivostok. We assessed pain intensity (VAS), the Oswestry disability index (ODI) and outcomes by the Macnab scale up to 36 months after surgery. Instrumental data were used to assess range of motion in the operated segment and heterotopic ossification by the McAfee-Suchomel classification. Results: The average VAS before surgery was 6.9 Β± 1.6 cm. After surgery, this value reduced significantly, to an average of 1.3 Β± 1.2 cm (p<0.001). The average ODI before surgery was 40.2 Β± 6.9%, and after IVD arthroplasty, this indictor improved to 12.3 Β± 6.1% (p <0.001). Range of motion in the operated segment at baseline averaged 36.8 Β± 2.6o, and within 36 months after the operation, this had increased to 41.2 Β± 2.9o. During the entire follow-up period, signs of severe (13.4%, n = 21) or moderate (10.2%, n = 16) heterotopic ossification were observed. Conclusions: The use of M6-L prosthesis can significantly reduce the level of pain, improve quality of life and maintain the physiological range of motion in the operated spinal segment in patients with degenerative lesions IVD at a low level of adverse outcomes.
